So I've been doing a bunch of searching and couldnt really find an answer to my question. Now i have been a pot smoker for a couple years now, and its great as I'm sure you can imagine. But recently I've realized that its ruined a couple opportunities at having relationships and I'm sure stopping before exams couldn't hurt either.

To any of you who used to smoke pot and have quit how has it affected your life? Is it better, worse, the same?

My question to you bluelight is how bad is smoking pot for you really? Now i don't want a real scientific answer by any means because i lack the intelligence to understand most of it, a factual answer would be nice, but personal experiences are great too. How bad is it, physically, mentally, emotionally, just on your life in general?

personal experience. I've seen it fuck up my close friend worse than any of the hard drugs. This person loves toking, but it always seems to ramp them up into a state of psychomotor agitation or psychosis, worse than amphetamines or psychedelics.

I guess everyone has different brain chemistry, but this my personal experience seeing marijuana being a very harmful substance.

as a rule of thumb, overdoing anything will potentially backfire.
I can surely attest to how weed screwed my relationship with certain people, destabilized my mental health at the worst possible times, and barred me from certain jobs. Not to mention the loads and loads of money spent on getting it.

But I really don't see how weed could interfere with your life as long as you hold on to a concept of moderation.

Even the most moderate of people find it hard to moderate something they love doing, still a poor excuse though. willpower /etc.

& Physically it's not done much damage to me that I know of, mentally it's made me a lot more withdrawn / anti social. I Can honestly say sometimes i'd rather sit at home blazed playing video games than going out partying. Not all the time mind but a lot more than I used to..

but then it's easy to blame the weed, i'm the tard thats been smoking it pretty much everyday for the past 4 years. :)

more often than not it makes me anti social, lazy, and sometimes very anxious and uncomfortable. a few years ago every time i smoked i would get very uncomfortable and feel quite messed up. overall it wasn't a very nice feeling. weed messes with my head pretty bad sometimes, other times im fine. theres certain parts of cannabis smoking i love, and some parts that i dont like very much

^This, sometimes.

Also, some of my friends that smoke a lot complain of some short-term memory loss, but that could be just an exaggeration or to be attributed to other factors.

I think the biggest problem that one could experience, in my opinon, is too much of a dependence on weed, without realizing it. One of my closest friends is like this. He's one of those "I can stop anytime!", but smokes every day at least once a day with abandon. I think that he couldn't stop if he had to, and that's kind of sad.

My short term memory is non existent. To the point where my folks are always telling me to lay off the dank. Lol

^^^And thats me to the T. Except I admit i cannot stop at anytime, and the fact that I rely on it so much actually affects my beliefs. So much that I refuse to have anything to do with anyone who promotes the prohibition of cannabis. This is a complete detrimental mind-fame in general because of the society we live in. But again its my choice to follow the beliefs, and as a relief I go to what I love, but can also hate at times.

Hence the saying "tuff titty said the kitty, but the milk is still good."

I smoke alotand trytoo stop as the onllllly ome bad thing weed does is it makes me a zombie with everyone and I just dont give a fuck.
If I do find my self becoming successful in taking a day or2 off I feel norml again though

However no there aren't any other negative effects really . And I've been smoking everyday for years .

for most people it's harmless, but for a not insignificant number of people it can:
kill motivation
bring on social anxiety
be psychologically addictive
cause paranoia
and in extreme cases bring on the onset of schizophrenia.
marijuana is far from harmless, it's just that it doesn't harm most people who smoke it.

Unlimited Supply

Last year I had what at the time seemed to be an unlimited supply, and it did indeed make me lazy. If I had to go to work, fine, but as far as getting out and looking for a better job, no go.

I have nothing negative from it. Maybe the only problem I have is memory, I tend to forgot stuff, but remember other stuff very well. Depends where my concentration is at ay.. I'll be going somewhere and just totally forget where.

I won't preach and go on how initially smoke is harmful to lungs in general. But when I did smoke it flat (cones) I did tend to have shortness of breathe after big nights smoking while in bed and stuff, felt very cold and tight on my lungs til i quit smoking and only vaped. I think that is the only negative side effect I get off smoking it. But abusively..

I think the only time I've had problems with marijuana was when I thought I was having problems with marijuana. As in there wasn't any. If I have it I'll smoke every day (but only at the end of the day) and the only thing I'll experience is memory loss after several weeks.

I've often thought about it effecting my ability to form relationships and experience life as a young person but when I'm out I'll find myself doing the same things I would with pot.

I think it's a problem if you make it one.

Man as a 2 year, everyday smoker(almost, im sure ive had a day of here and a week off there but rarely over a week), i have to say its not as bad as you think man .
My life is the same now as it was pretty much. But i lost my main friends due to different views on pot so that kind of sucked but im not one to let someone tell me what to do or smoke or not to smoke.

Anyway yea dont do it everyday because when you stop for a day or more you May or may not experience the following: irratibility, extreme boredom, anorexia, insomnia, psychosis*,craving for altered perception, coughing up grey shit ,anger, increase in masturbation and decreased libido, pain, muscle soreness, no need to shit, and a frowny face.
Im not saying it has physical withdrawl all the above are psychological in nature and im not really psycho i just FUCKING FEEL LIKE IT.

*all these happened to me but it varies from person to person...but dont get in the habit of going to sleep high PLEASE because i have to take a fucking botle of benadryl to get to sleep, unless im extremely sleep deprived.
So take care, and remember moderation,,,,
AND PS. each time i quit the symptoms get less severe in nature. i used to get really depressed, now i just feel out of my element and plain pissy

as far as actual harm short term memory loss would be about as far as it would go for the large majority of people. Of course they can cause some mental effects but usually that has more to do with the individual than the pot

I believe the "harm" in no way comes from the marijuana itself. It comes from the patterns of use/abuse we find ourselves in the midst of. I would be shocked and amazed to hear of anyone that became a life-long psychopath, dropped out of high school, or became homeless after smoking one joint; i.e. using infrequently and with, at most adhering to a strict concept of moderation.

There are no chemicals ive ever heard of in marijuana that cause any of the symptoms posted in this thread. it seems like all negative effects are a reflection of excessive use coupled with poor lifestyle decisions..
