Hi guys, I haven't been here for a LONG while now... Been pretty fucked up to be honest... I don't know if any of you noticed a couple stupid threads I started, hopefully there were deleted. Have been dealing with a lot of shit lately, paranoia (from being locked up for 12 months a couple years ago), depression, and family issues!

Well, I decided to get help. My mum was the one who suggested I think about it. Not addiction help, I have cut off everything (almost) cold turkey (apart from smoking weed, as it helps from withdrawals from codeine and pristiq). Off to see a shrink in a couple days, hopefully something positive comes out of $300 sessions for 10 weeks! :( Fuck knows where I'm gonna find the money!

I thought I'd start this thread and update after each session to let you know how it's all going...

I was up to 1600 - 1800mg a dose of codeine (on about 100mg a dose now, it's too hard to drop it totally) and was about to move to heroin (actually had it sitting right in front of me) until I came browsing on here for more information. I wanted to do it, but some of the horror stories I read, made me flush it... So thank you BL!

Good choice, I think if you get a referral from a doctor you can claim most the session back on medicare. You get like 12 visits a year i think...

^ I've done heroin for years and never found it had any appeal. That is, until I started doing codeine. This 'soft, harmless' drug may be so on it's own, but I think all too often the pleasure gained off codeine piques an interest in the stronger opiates. With the tricks I learnt from my codeine usage (potentiators, anti histamines to kill the nausea etc), heroin, a once uninteresting drug to me, became my DOC. (And just to reiterate to a close friend, this was entirely my own choice and doing).

Well done on deciding to make a change, I really hope it works out for you.

^ yep try and get on a mental health care plan? Should net you some free sessions. Keep us up to date AyahuascaSeeker :)

^ It is 12 visits a year, but it only covers you upto $80. So, if your practinior costs more than that, you'll still be paying the difference. OP, are you in Vic...? If so I could recommend some great free places.

Edit - Just saw that you are, I'll PM you some of the places I've found awesome...

Good to see you back bro :)

Excellent that you're seeking help. I agree with others that $300 a session is a bit steep and it's worth getting a mental health care plan to at least cut the costs (mine were all free). If you can afford it though, I'm sure it'll be worth it. Good luck with everything, keep us updated!

Addiction is like that, but heroin is extremely good at activating previously unseen addictive potentials in most individuals that use it regularly.

I'm sure you and I both know enough people in which this was the drug that they lost their shit on.

And even after you escape it's vile clutches do you constantly think about the chemical rain-coat and it's warmth - especially on that cold lonely winters day.

Man 1800 mg of codeine. I thought i read that it had no more effects after like 400 mg or somehtin idk.

It's not really a "myth", there just isn't 1 ceiling dose for all people. Similar to buprenorphine, 32mg of buprenorphine is the accepted "common" ceiling dose for people, but some people could consume many times more of it than that. For me, I would probably top out somewhere below 8mg.

I know someone who is a chronic pain patient, and they were taking 800mg - 900mg of codeine per day.

what he said

congrats for taking the step bud.
my gf has just be cleared for depression and dosnt have to see the psyc anymore, off the meds etc, and its great, she's so much better to be around now.

i dunno about anyone else, but after my missus went to the phyc, she come back a different person, in a good way thats for sure! for her, the $250~ was well worth it [ a few times a month over the last 2 years]. put alot into perspective for her.

Taking 800-900mg codeine a day for chronic pain is one thing. But the OP was taking 1800mg in one dose!!

I know personally anything over around the 600 mark is really just a waste. I end just kind of annoyed. Not angry, per se, but able to find myself pretty fuckin angry at the drop of a hat if the right stimulus were to present itself.

Was going for 1600mg at once just to chase that elusive high (that remains elusive unless you force yourself to take a break and reduce tolerance issues), or did you actually notice that felt more of an effect at that dose? (@OP).

PS.

Just a quick update... All is well... Only smoking a joint in the evening for sleep... Other than that, counselling and exercise is working a treat... (Thanks footscrazy for the info too).

Happy to hear it. ;)
