oramorph just not working for me...(new to opiates - morphine dosage question)

hey all

i have a bottle of oramorph liquid, 10mg/5ml but it doesnt seem to do much

tried upto 90mg (45ml) and nothing apart from a light body buzz similar to MDMA

i'm quite a big bloke, 16stone.. no previous history with opiates but too much experience elsewhere!

what would be a safe dose for me to take?

thinking of uping it to 60ml?

Check out the Beginner's Dosage Guide for morphine in BDD Threads of Note. I don't know if oramorph has any other active ingredients besides morphine but that would be something to mention.

Hmmm I didn't read your numbers until just now. 90mg of morphine is quite a lot for someone without any tolerance. It seems you have a natural tolerance, fat metabolism, or poor absorption (assuming you aren't experiencing the high and just not noticing/recognizing it). No one can really safely recommend increasing your dosage as for most people this would be a dangerous proposal. That being said titrating up slowly is relatively safe so long as no other factors suddenly change (e.g. stomach contents).

Hey scenes, welcome to Bluelight!

Since you're a big guy and morphine has poor oral BA (in other words, poor oral activity - morphine is an IV drug). I would suggest trying 120 mg and see how that works out for you.
 
thanks for the replies, yeah i was thinking of moving to 120

90 had a light body buzz but no nodding or anything else...weed made the buzz a bit stronger but it was more a strong weed high than anything else! had a few beers to try and incease the effects but that didnt do much

have had high tolerance to weed, alcohol, cocaine and everything else i ever tried to thought that would be the case

Okay, well yeah like I originally told you - 120 mg should be good. Try not using the weed, as it may mask the opiate high. I hate weed. Have a couple of beers instead, that might help with the nod you're looking for.
 
^fair enough, kokaino was just saying that if you smoke a lot of weed, or a medium amount of good weed, it will overpower the morphine and you'll more or less be wasting your morphine.

disapointing so far, whenever i feel something is happening i seem to just snap out of it

got a bottle of wine and some weed.. thinking of having a glass of red.. reckon this will help at all?

Well it should take 45-60 minutes to kick in so you shouldn't really be feeling it all yet. But don't expect too much, opiates can be an acquired taste. Also, sustained release Morphine is subtle, nothing like IV administration.
 
hmm.. that was pretty crap

itchy and not a lot else.. i have heard reports of people nodding off oramorph.. one question.. HOW!

should I increase dosage?
 
If at first you don't succeed, take more. Try 150-180mg if 120mg didn't work. You aren't alone, with MSContin (sustained release Morphine) I needed 200mg to feel anything and I didn't have much of a tolerance to opiates either. Doses below that never did much but make me very lightly sedated, mild analgesia & itchy. I'm not the biggest fan of sustained release Morphine but when I finally tried 200mg I enjoyed myself. After an hour I got a fairly decent nod, not too powerful, but I did feel nicely sedated. A few hours later and I felt really nice. So my recommendation would be 180mg. If someone says that's too much, well that's their opinion, but from my experience I always needed high doses of MSContin (basically the same thing you have) and without much of a tolerance either. I mean, I was probably taking around 40-60mg of oxycodone at the time.
 
cheers man.. i will up the doseage next time i get some.. all out at the moment

probably a good thing i am all out as the constipation that came after 120mg almost killed me, it was like shitting out a starfish when i finally was able to go
