Opioids Codeine - bad reaction? (on Olanzapine and caffeine)

So I managed to get hold of some OTC codeine/paracetemol tablets, and I took one just to see if I was allergic. A few seconds later I went through a panic reaction, in which I was worried that I wasn't breathing normally. I'm taking Olanzapine, which I verified with the pharmacist wouldn't be a problem. Now the thing is, I consume a record breaking amount of caffeine. Is it possible it caused such a negative reaction to just one pill, or was it CNS depression caused by an interaction with the Olanzapine?

It was just a panic attack.

Being allergic would result in hives, itchiness, swelling of the throat and other symptoms of anaphylaxis. I doubt there would be much of an interaction with olanzapine, but regardless the codeine wouldn't have had time to interact with any other meds in seconds either way as it wouldn't have been absorbed yet.

I hate them codiene tablets with the caffeine in them some people are caffeine intolerant as i am , as soon as they drink something liek coffee their heart starts racing and can make you feel anxious , its a horrible feeling

If your going to do codeine again i suggest you get the none caffeine ones and do a cold water extraction to remove the paracetamol so your not buggering your liver

Its very easy to do and takes very little time :)

It's quite easy to get rid of the caffeine in those pills, not really a big deal.

Codeine is strange, about 1 out of 5 times in doses above 300mg, i break out in hives and rashes and get extremely itchy, then it seems to die down after about 20mins. After doing it a few times i've noticed it only happens if i take it on an empty stomach, either that or i'm not doing the CWE right, but the reaction seems to lie in with codeine
