So I was at the gym yesterday at my apt. and I starting talking to this guy about random stuff and the subject of steroids and supplements came up. He told me he has done a couple cycles and just finished with one. But what surprised me was that he said he only works out at the gym once a week due to his work schedule.

He said he only does 3 workouts a week with two of them at home doing dumbbells and push ups for 30mins.

What's odd is he was actually big. he said he went from 175-210 last 4 months.
He was about 6ft and had a decent bf% and looked ripped.

But his diet was on check tho. He said he eats 3-4k cal a day with lots of protein.

Also his cycle was very basic with just some test. and pct.

So does diet make that much of difference because he clearly was working out to the bare minimum? or was he a rare exception?

Diet is probably the most important thing. Eat correctly and you will most likely look healthy. You are what you eat.

Good diet mixed with very fortunate genetics.
Do not make an example out of him, or get any ideas. The chances of anyone else doing so is extremely slim.

Either that, or you're just exaggerating.

I just met him so I cannot confirm how long it took him to make those gains.
Or maybe he was already in somewhat shape before he started his cycles.

He did like to brag about other things in life.

So I'll just either take this as rare genetics situation or more of a exaggeration.

I just wanted to confirm people weren't normally making those kind of gains without real effort.

Any one of those could be a possibility. It's all speculation. For all you know, he could even be bullshitting about being on steroids.

I would never recommend anyone attempt this.

175-210 in 4 months working out once a week...... something doesnt add up. Someone in this story is exaggerating because even if you had the best possible conditions gaining 35 pounds in 4 months is going to be like 80% fat at best.

well he could be lieing to seem like he does more. if you did 1 workout with regular roid cycles, you would probably just look like a normal person who works out 3 times a week haha seems like a waste of roids if you dont workout.

okay so I saw him at the gym again today. He said while he was on his cycle he was working out 3-4 times a week at the gym but last couple of weeks he doesn't have much time for gym because of work. But he did confirm to me in more detail that he gained a good 30lb during his 12 week cycle. I believe him.

He also said he's been losing pounds these past couple weeks. Also that he was trying to maintain the weight he gained on the cycle but was having a hard time.

Now that i talked to him more he seems like a good guy but a bit lazy using shortcuts alot. He feels he doesn't have the same drive and energy when not on a cycle.

So how long b4 he loses most of the weight he gained with his new "workouts"?

I only workout 3-4 times a week. Anymore and I tend to get burned out. As long as you're hitting it really hard that's all that matters. I didn't lose any weight after my test only cycle. Just a bit of confidence (strength).

Right now I work out 4 days a week, I am not an extreme ecto, but I do have that build... so I have to be careful not to overwork myself. On my off days I will often take my dog for a walk or something like that, but I need to be careful not to burn myself out.

4 days is optimal...i still love running outside though so i usually do that once a week for the mental aspect and exposure to uv...

my current training split:

back-tri
legs
off
chest-bi
shoulders traps
off (run 5 miles outside)
off

Funny because i don't juice and i'm so lean and big right now for my body..actually saw a guy in town the other night who said that him and his friends want to look like me out of everyone at my gym..and my gym is full of bodybuilders...i love bodybuilding but im doing more of an athletic routine...

I do a lot of biking, that's done outside and I like to play with traffic.

Not that you asked but I'll present meh newish split.

Legs
Chest/Bi
Back/Tri
Delts/Traps

Having back after legs would be tiring to me because I do deadlifts on back day.

I'll throw abs in every other workout now. I take time off when I need to. I think resting is great and you should too. I also sleep 8-11 hours a day because I work from 1pm-9pm. According to CapHeroin all that sleep causes cancer. ...or was that my MD magazine? ???
Okay,

Working out once a week? I find that near impossible, unless he trained everybody part on the one day... He's diet would have to be near perfect.

I guess this is kind of on topic..I always thought you can take all the steroids you want but if you don't do any sort of exercise you won't see any gains. True?

Yes, true.

Strength will increase to a degree but in terms of actual body composition, slight to no gains whatsoever.

You can always just waste the cycle by doing a bitch routine but even then you will make gains. Nothing spectacular nor impressive though. For the most part, you're wasting health and money if your lifestyle isn't in place before you're on cycle.

I was saying that sleeping 5 to 7 hours per night is optimal. :)

Not for me. If I get a minute less than 8 hours in the night before I can immediately tell by the time I even start the oatmeal. If I'm on a caffeine cycle it's somewhat easier but sometimes I don't even like to get a lift in if I don't think I'm well enough rested.

Well, he said he worked out literally 3 times per week, that could be plenty too grow if you know what you are doing, he was in the GYM - 1 time per week, but worked out at home 2 more days.. so
