Just wondering does anyone know where I can get bacteriostatic water from in Australia? I've googled it and it seems really hard to find.

I'm looking at filling a vial with a diluadid solution for injection and need this water to keep it safe and easy.

For those who don't know what bacteriostatic water is, it is sterile water that has .9% Benzyl Alcohol in it acting as a preservative to keep things clean for the veins.

You can see it being used in the filtering mega thread (in the NSFW tags)

My memory is really bad but I think I asked last time I was at the exchange I asked about it and they said they only have sterile water for injections but I'll ring them tomorrow and find out.

Yeah my memory isn't so flash either, I seem to remember bacteriostatic water being offered at Biala but I can't be sure of it. A phone call probably wouldn't help. :)

I found them on this site here and they ship to australia but it's not cheap ~$50 just for shipping 8o

I'll keep looking.

You can't safely make up a solution with sterile water and use it over the course of a month, even if you have a sterile vial to store the solution in. You would need to filter the solution with a .22um wheel filter each time you use it for it to be safe and that is a waste of money, effort and can't be done with an insulin syringe (what I shoot up with because it's 29g and the exchange here only has luer locks up to 27g).

I live in WA but if you find the name of any pharmacies/needle exchanges that have bacteriostatic water let me know and I will ring and enquire if they can post me some (phone order).

two good sites.

Micron Filtering Mega Thread and FAQ

^guide to check for storable solutions. you need a preservative within the bacteriostatic water for longer storage - benzyl alcohol. if not you'll run into trouble like hemolysis

Thanks. I mentioned the first site you gave as being good in my previous post but I'm looking for cheaper shipping if possible (preferable from an australian source). The second site you mentioned, GPZ services, I couldn't find any bacteriostatic water on. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as I know leftwing benzyl alcohol (the preservative in bacteriostatic water) should keep the solution preserved for 28days in a sealed vial. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I don't want to mess with my health but that was the impression CH's megapost gave me when I made this thread.

Cheers.

oh shit my bad, they took bacteriostatic water off their products a while back i think.

my understanding is it should keep the solution sterile for around that time. personally i've kept solutions for no longer than seven days - call me paranoid but for me it's better to be safe than sorry. i would prepare what i was willing to use in a week.

i think you're going to be hard pressed finding an australian site with reasonable shipping costs as. bulk purchasing is where you begin to get discounts.

i don't think they do though i could be wrong as the last time i went there was the night myself and ifonly came for a visit.

they do definitely stock sterile water which they generally charge a dollar per unit unless you can sweet talk the lady in there:D

I really doubt any NSP in Australia would have bacteriostatic water. Sterile water for injection yes - and micron filters widely available.

Do you really need to make up a mega solution? Why not just make up what you need as you go?

If you are dead keen, you could check out big medical suppliers like Clifford Hallam. Don't bother getting a price from them - for a one off it would probably be too much. But if you went into an NSP and asked if they could order it for you, and you would then pay them back - that could work. I know of similar instances where this has been done.

Cheers that's a really good idea otherwise I will just order the water from the american website with a few other things and get it shipped here.

Yeh I'm not really looking at making up a solution for more than a week or two but I want to make it to save effort, equipment and drug wastage + if I'm drawing up from a labeld vial it looks less dodgy to the uninitiated than drawing up from a spoon or some other shit + vial, insulin syringe and alcohol pad is a lot easier to carry around if I want to shoot up in a mates bathroom before watching a movie or some other time at last minute I feel like shooting up before going out it's all ready just draw and shoot. The main reason I'm doing this however is because I'm going on a family trip (with my GF's family) and I want to be able to quickly and discreetly use in a quick amount of time because I can't assume I'll have privacy whenever I want to shoot up.

This is the service I use although I live in the United States.

That is pretty steep for S&H though, I am sorry to hear that.

If you can find benzyl alcohol - you can calculate how much 0.9% is for the volume of water you'll be using, and make your own. :)

When you make it, you'll have to use it within 28 days though, it won't have a longer shelf life than that from what I gather.

Yeh that is good advice CH but I just bit the bullet, payed up and bought the shit from that website. Expensive but I value my health and safe practice above everything else so I will feel more comfortable with the real thing.

Cheers Everyone.
