Ok I know this is a stupid question and tobacco is bad for you, but I'm a hardcore nicotine addict and I have to talk about this...

I just got a new apartment after living with my dad for a few years. In my new apartment theres a no smoking rule so I should go outside everytime when I smoke. I've been thinking about using smokeless tobacco(dipping tobacco/snus), but that stuff can't be bought legally here in Finland where I live, so I'd have to make my own smokeless tobacco...

When I tried tobacco first time when I was 15, I actually tried smokeless tobacco before I tried smoking cigarettes. I just took some pipe tobacco/RYO tobacco, mixed it with baking soda and started chewing it. The tobacco has to be mixed with baking soda before chewing it, because nicotine is absorbed through the mucus membranes only when its in alkaline solution(just like the South Americans mix coca leaves with alkaline limestone before chewing to get the cocaine absorbed better).

The problem is, chewing tobacco made that way tastes REALLY bad, and almost makes you puke... I've seen some recipes in the net where the RYO/pipe tobacco was first dried in the oven at about 100 degrees celcius for some time, before wetting it with a solution of table salt and baking soda and some spices like pepper were also added to it before using, to make it taste better.

Has anyone else made their own smokeless tobacco?
