Valium (diazepam) tolerance

had a 3 day bender of smoking lots of pot, getting very drunk and took about 100mg of valium over the three days

the last night of the binge was the night before last. . . iv got one valium left which i planned to take casually at the pub tonight but am thinking it might better seeing as its my last to wait a bit? i mean i got to the stage where i put two 10mgs under my tongue and it hardly effected me, should i wait or does the tolerance deplete quickly?

no experience with benzos before this

to make things clear, i have 1 10mg roche valium and the last time i took them was 48 hours ago

Benzo tolerance appears quickly but sadly does not disappear nearly as fast. So the answer to your question depends on how long you plan on waiting. If I were you I would just hold onto it for another day. Alcohol and benzos are cross-tolerant with each other so while you were drinking and taking benzos the alcohol was driving your benzo tolerance up as well.

My advice is, skip taking your last Valium at the pub tonight and take it in another few days. You certainly can take it tonight if you want to, but the usual warnings about mixing alcohol and benzos still apply...
 
In the spirit of harm reduction I want to inform you of the danger of combining benzos and alcohol. Since you have no benzo tolerance.

If I were you I'd wait due to diazepams long half life.. You can never tell when too much will be too much. I had to quit drinking cause of my benzos. It's a good way to wind up in jail and not realize how ya got there.

I rarely use alcohol and sometimes when I do I get wated quite easily. Combine that with benzo usage of 20mg diazepam per day and I dont wonder anymore when I learned how long the diazepam halflife is why I experienced blackouts. I reduced monday the usage to 10mg per day and today I am going to a bar and have some good wine and hopefully dont get blackout :)

Two months since I have taken any alcohol so I am starting with care not to overdo it.

Half-life is over a week and then you should give yourself another week before using again. So a couple weeks and then your tolerance should hopefully be reset. Don't continue to binge, that's asking for trouble, addiction to benzodiazepines is no joke.

dude where have you been man hit me on the hip boy. Ive been calling for weeks man. I got your message ages ago and it was like 3 days late that i received it and i thought you sounded upset and I want to say my phone is FUCKED up ...:\
 
thanks guys, ended up being a dick about it and put it under my tongue when my friend came over, made a very subtle difference to my night but found myself generally a more open and high spirited person (with small amounts of alcohol added)

i could have saved it but to be honest im very cautious of benzo use and a lot of my friends are getting riskily involved lately so if anything i wanted to get rid of the little blue pill and not touch them again till everyones calmed down on them.

I used to love mixing my Valium with alcohol. But the last time I did it, I woke up 16 hours later and realized I was missing 240mg of Valium. I was home alone at the time, so obviously I took it but blacked out so I didn't remember. I won't even do it again. It was a total waste of good Valium and it pisses me off just thinking about it now.

In my experience, 50mg of Valium is about the peak for that drug. Again, IN MY EXPERIENCE, going over 50mg doesn't do anything for me. I don't get any more drowsy, buzzed or sedated. 20mg is a nice amount to relax me before bed if I've had a hard day or just feel like a nice relaxing night. That's the beauty of Valium. It's great to relax with. Every time I've partied with it, I ended up taking way more than I should have without getting any benefit from it.

yeah we managed to get our hands on some 10mg roche very cheaply recently so some friends are spending weeks at a time drinking and getting completely mashed on them. im not looking forward to it running out and having to hang around with a pack of depressed zombies for a couple of months after
 
maybe spc123 is right. taking more than 50mg diaz doesnt really increase the effect all that much

its like every extra pill ya take is a little weaker.

i had a long break from benzos. & even justm starting again the last weak. my tolerance is basically practically unlimited. the only time i seem to get a mild effect is if i take em first thing in the morning.

ive had xanax before plenty of times & that stuff gets me actually noticiably effected.
all diaz & temaze have been doing is making me irritable if i take more than 40mg. weird.
i think theres a sweet spot with vals. maybe 30mg where ya calm & socialable without starting to feel lethargic.
...unlike xanax. the more of that stuff taken. it gives me super carefreeness. wanna talk to strangers & doesnt make me look half asleep.

i dont think im gunna take xannies again. valium aint so bad. i really dont think its that addictive. i find relatively simple to taper off. where as xanax has these extreme highs & lows.

u only got one body so take care of it. take the temazepam for insoma. the vals in reasoble dosages to chill & xanax is u wanna be confident.

i think valiums are the safest in my favourite to drink with (if your determined to mix em with alcohol which i have to add isnt a good idea. good thing i dont drink these days.
not because its a shitty drug. I love the first 6 pack of beer for a night & listening to music. the hanover just isnt worth it imo
just make sure to take the valium before u start drinking. (this is probably bad advise) but if MUST.

likewise friend. Shit has been ANNNNNOYING me. I am going to try out clonazepam again at 3mgs and pray i get better effects that the valiums been doings its terrible for anxiety but I was getting pardoxical exxects from clonazepam before. Valium loses its touch after a month Maybe Less I have noticed and MYLAN brand HURT YOUR STOMACH and I am calling my doctor because of this and asking for ativan.

xanax is addictive but its my third favoerite. its just my doctor will only prescribe me 5mg mylan diazepam and 3 when I need like 8 a day but shouldnt even have to deal with this. tempted to go to an um emergency doctors. Tell them my situation. Itws bullshit h8 insurance and yadda yadda
 
Valium is fraking addictive, you pop them little blues, and in no time the pack is empty.

nah man i can take 40mgs if I HAVE too, otherwise 35-30 is perfecctt. My only issue is the pills consumption I'm going to try klonopin after a few months of not taking it. Well see.......It is the best to drink with diazepam that is not that its safe but I notice effects to me for anxiety are only felt after A beer otherwise it just gets me by. I dunno anymore. Give us more options america.....bromazepam would be perfect I bet for me.
 
^ Bromazepam is ok but it put me into depressive mode in less than a week. Everybody's different, though.
 
High doses of diazepam fuck me up more than any other of the benzodiazepines. If I take too much clonazepam or alprazolam I'll feel better, get greater relief of anxiety but still will be able to function to a certain degree, while with diazepam the more I take the more out of it I become. Become drowsy, sedated, intoxicated and loss of coordination. I'll start to fall asleep and nod out while I do simple things. Forget what I'm saying and my eyes won't connect with things. And the more I take, the longer the duration, the residual effects will last all through the next day if I'm taking doses over 100mg. Crashed and got a DUI while on it. But with clonazepam, I'll just begin to feel better the more I take.

yea Ima try it if I get one more shitty stomach ache because Im scared to mix klon with alchol nevcer experienced a good time with that. I plan to switch to about 5mgs of ativan soon or 4mgs and oxazepam........temazepam hardly does shit now when I take 4 15mg apns to get to sleep it takes 6 maybe more now to stop the racing thoughts. wish I had a bottle of 10mg valium and ativan.
 
I noticed ativan tends to make me the MOST anxiety relieved but also drowsy. Diazepam was doing that like xanax does but better now.....eh tolerance.
 
It certainly depends on personal tolerance and reaction to the benzodiazepine in question. Benzos are famous (or infamous) for causing vastly different effects from one person to the next.

There are many, many threads about this, however.
 
I just wanted to reiterate how addictive benzos are, how quickly your tolerance builds, and how fucking miserable and potentially dangerous withdrawals can be. I'm hesitant to say this but I almost feel that dicking around with opioids (short of mainlining them), is safer. I mean if you have a benzo problem the withdrawals can take months. This is especially true with something like valium which, when considering it's active metabolites, had a very long half-life. I'm on 3mg/day clonazepam, and if I take say 2mg/day for 2 days in a row, I notice it. I'm not trying to be debbie downer here, but using a substance that you can't CT off of without risking status seizures is playing with fire. On the other hand, drugs are fun, and I'd be a hypocrit if I said I've never used pharmacueticals recreationally. =D
 
Diazepam is addictive sure, but it's withdrawals and taper is much easier than being hooked on something like alprazolam, temazepam, or lorazepam.

I've been on alprazolam for 4 years straight, never a day without them. Plus, all the temazepam I buy on the side. I'm scared and worried about the day I have to come off of them, if I ever do.
