In the face of new, harsher laws on illegal substances investigators say drug dealers are getting creative with how they get their business out.

"When the new law went into effect he had to turn to making illegal spice again not only to keep up with his habit but to keep funds coming in for his business," said Captain Troy Peterson of the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators confiscated synthetic marijuana and bath salts, along with weapons and money, on the property of Orange Grove resident David Schwers who is now faces multiple drug charges. Schwers was pulled over on I-10 for a traffic violation. That's when deputies say they found drugs and paraphernalia in his car. He was arrested, and later consented to a search of his home.

this is a good thing, all of that shit has little to no research...and he's pretty dumb for consenting to a search of his home.

If the police have a reason to search/raid, they won't ask for consent.

I don't think its a good thing but those chemicals are causing a lot of problems and drawing bad attention to drug use.

He shouldn't be in trouble but he should've thought about the effects of all that fake stuff.

I agree with this, I never got down with RCs because to my knowledge they haven't been around that long and there haven't been many studies in regards to their potential detremential health effects. Stuff like that worries me because it's not intended for human consumption so I doubt there are many studies done on what they may do to the body. Unless of course I am wrong, does anyone know if there are studies on the effects of these chems on the body?

There aren't any toxicity done yet, I personally don't see how that is relevant though. We know alcohol is toxic and it is perfectly legal and acceptable. My belief is that the government should have no right to tell an individual what they can put into their body.

If I want to ingest something toxic who is the government to tell me I'm not allowed to?

Really though it is all a joke because the government has no problems with allowing kids to take amphetamine salts every day throughout their youth, but of course there is a ton of profit in that.

The ironic thing is that these chemicals only exist to get around the laws regarding currently illegal substances we do know the long-term effects of.

Not directed at any one person in particular, but it's fascinating how 'pro-legalization' people flip scripts in cases of rc's/salt/spice, and in cases of drugs that aren't their flavor..

There are no real studies or anything, just reports of users.

The only information out about these chemicals is what people have put out there cause the manufacturers don't say anything except "not for human consumption," and we know how effective and truthful that is...not.

What I just posted can be reinforced in that for about 6 months, I was dependent on synthetic cannabinoids...and then I got off probie.

My overall thing is that if you're desperate and need a legal alternative, once in a blue moon probably won't kill you but making their use a regular thing is definitely asking for trouble.

As far as synthetics "drawing negative attention to drug use"; how is it any worse then someone smoking crack or shooting dope?

The entire reason they are sold NFHC is to get around drug laws. The same drug laws that made these drugs so popular in the first place.

How many people do you see using rc's thinking they are safe?

How many crack/h users think crack/h are safe?

And how long have been rcs been around? They are new and so they cam make the news more easily.

I can't say I know/associate w/ anyone who thinks psychotropic substances are inherently "safe", regardless of whether it's booze, OTC rc's at the gas station, or fentanyl.

Also, I seperate 2c's for example from Meph in the rc's category. When I refer to rc's causing problems, I'm talking about the ones that are making the news all the time. You don't hear a lot about the psychedelic tryptamine rc's compared to how much you hear about MPDV or JWH series chemicals.]

and you're kidding me when you think that there aren't any people using the rc's such as meph are okay? These people think that because these legal highs are legal, that they are safe. When you can buy it at a discount tobacco, it is much easier for someone who isn't into illegal drugs but maybe into alcohol or tobacco and maybe was into pot to get into these chemicals.

This post prob reads weird cause I'm high as hell, sorry about that

Heh, I'll excuse the writing and go by what I presume you meant ;)

I'll agree to the <extremely obvious> fact that psychotropics making the news is bad for psychotropic culture. I'm not really sure what else you mean, besides the obvious..

And I never said there aren't people who think that way, just that I don't know any. If someone's daft enough to find safety in the fact that the gas station is selling some incense ur supposed to smoke, I wouldn't talk/associate with them. I know many who have/do smoke spice and whatnot, but they also hate the fact they don't know what the fuck's in it (they see it as a fair tradeoff, they can get high w/o failing a drug test, but they are wholly aware they're playing with fire when they do it. figuratively, of course ;P )

I want legalization, and I do realize that means there'll be some 'darwin' happening. That already happens though, whether it's with alcohol, OTC 'spice', or crack. Dumbasses will be dumbasses, laws cannot stop this NOR SHOULD THEY. It's not the role of gov to protect people from themselves, if I wanna sell "sanger's magical chemical medley", with a proprietary blend of 'stimulants, rc's, opiates, and various shit I created', so be it. If someone wants to buy it and use it, I just cannot see how that is the choice of anyone but that person, and telling them they can't to protect them from themselves is just wrong.
/I wouldn't hesitate to sell someone cases of keyboard duster..maybe that makes me a bad person lol
