Opioids Insufflating oxymorphone, now have amazing sense of smell?

Hey all,

This is a little odd. I've been snorting oxymorphone (usually 5mg IR or 10mg ER) for about a month now. It seems like all of the sudden my sense of smell has picked up and my breathing in through my nose has tremendously improved. I tried smoking a cigarette today after snorting and it tasted and smelled completely different. It almost made me sick. It seems to have been something that happened all the sudden. I'm a bit concerned TBH. I really hope I didn't mess up my nasal passages. Anyone ever have a similar experience?

I have no idea what it could be,certainly nothing I've ever encountered or even heard of...I'd have thought the TimeRx gel in those ER Opanas would make smelling and breathing harder after snorting them.

Also if you dont mind me asking,were you opioid dependant before you started snorting oxymorphone?(I would think so if you snort 10 milligrams).Im just wondering,because if you weren't physically addicted and then snorted oxymorph everyday for a month you would become physically addicted for sure.

Maybe you're in withdrawal before snorting and everything seems drab and "off" then after you dose you come back to life so to speak...I know when Im really sick and have a good fix I could open mouth kiss a horse Im so damn happy and the world is so great.
 
drugs change the way I experience the taste of cigarettes. if you think the taste of them is bad when you're high, you should definitely not try them in the throes of opiate withdrawal. ghastly.
 
oxymorphone, "dilaudid", "dillies", actually completely destroyed my upper respiratory system. i only snorted them at first then i quit that because it would destroy my nose and make me incapable of snorting them. so i began eating them and i devoloped a really nasty breathing problem that only an asthma inhaler would help, which eventually began to not work. i couldnt smell shit if it was on my face literally and i would wake up at night basically suffacating. all symptoms went away within a week of quitting cold turkey. i was fucking killing myself. be careful bro, you dance with the devil you gonna get burned.
 
yeah when i kick i can smell every little thing when im laying in bed and tastes are way more intense.

but im sure if you keep snorting stuff youll damage your sense of smell eventually.

This! Fucking nasty doesn't begin to describe the taste/smell. I put on nicotine patches (when I have them) during w/d so I don't have to experience the unpleasant tasting w/d cigs.
 
Ive been blowing oxymorphone daily for two years now and have never noticed anything like this. Sometimes I have a decreased sense of smell due to congestion, but thats about it.

I dont smoke cig's though which could have something to do with what you're experiencing. I wouldnt worry too much about something serious being wrong, not yet anyways.
 
doesn't sound threatening. i have used my fair share of opana 10 ER as well in the last 2 years and have not noticed any difference in smell. like nikolai, i do not smoke cigarettes so that may have something to do with it. i've smoked maybe a pack or two the most in my short life and i'd be willing to test it out to see if smoking will have any short term effects since i am not against smoking. opana usually does not have a negative or positive effect on my sense of smell or breathing. i have noticed no difference from tolerance breaks to when i use it.
 
To correct something above, oxymorphone is Opana, hydromorophone is Dilaudid I believe, so they are different things.

I feel like snorting oxymorphone is very light, I've recently done it after only having an oral/plugging history with opiates (and blowing heroin just once) so it seems odd that it would affect your nose so much. Especially in such a short time frame.
 
could it be due to snorting something else before you moved onto opana and having less powder or maybe the way you snort now.
 
I haven't really noticed a heightened sense of smell, but I do always think that Opana smells like popcorn. It gives me some pretty bad nasal congestion for days though so I try not to do it too much.
