This just goes to show you the shift in thinking that is going on amongst voters, as the older hardcore conservative generation dies off the more liberal free thinking and in my opinion practical generations become the majority.

Liberal and conservative labels are silly. They depend on what point of view you have. Ron Paul is a registered republican who is in support of legalization of pot.

No issue should be defined by the two party system. Not flaming you here, just wanted to point that out.

Never trust a poll. Especially on CNN. However, I do believe that the people would agree about reducing the charge or maybe even more. Too bad the people really have little say in the matter.

Yo. I totally agree with this. I'm not sure I'm for total legalization of all drugs because I do know that drugs have had a very negative impact on my life. I really don't want anyone else to experience addiction like I have because it has been incredibly debilitating. So I'm not sure I want drugs legalized. However, small amounts of any drug should be misdemeanors. It's ridiculous to have a felony record if you're caught having a xanax in your pocket. It's just not smart policy. As for trafficking large amounts of drugs for distribution, I see no problem with that being a felony charge.:\

Just because you had a problem with addiction, they should be illegal for everyone? Seems rather unfair.

Besides, if drugs were legal, you wouldn't have to go to the projects to pick up some dirty ass drugs cooked in Shady Sanchez's basement.. then stepped on with whatever white powder he can find (whether it be detergent or whatever)

The reason people get usually sick(or even die) from drugs is because they have no idea what is in their drugs, and where it's been, etc. Heroin wouldn't so dangerous if an addict could go easily obtain some liquid morphine, clean needles, etc, and they knew exactly how many mg/mcg they are taking with each dose.

And finally, if prohibition is effective in preventing addiction, why did YOU get addicted?

It's bullshit. You'd have to be a moron to believe in it. Obviously it doesn't work, because if it did, you'd never have had a problem.
