good dance clubs in new orleans and police in the US

Hi,


I'm Australian, but am going to the US soon. My girlfriend (who is from Alabama) and I were going to spend 3-4 nights in New Orleans. She managed to score some good pills and some molly (something we are really lacking in Australia at the moment) so we wanted to go somewhere to go get messed up that has a tolerant policy to drug use and plays good dance music. I'm a big fan of psy trance, tech and dub step, but I am fine listening to any sort of dance music as long as it isn't too commerical, rubbish house.

Do you know of any clubs that might suit us?

Is there like an online site that mentions any good upcoming EDM gigs in new orleans?

Also, I am hearing New Orleans has a bit of crime problem. Are there any no go zones at night we should be aware of? Also, do the police in Louisanna hassled you or arrest you if they see you rolling? In Australia, its pretty tolerated and police won't bother you unless you are being aggressive or bothering people.

just to make this broader. do the police generally search you in the US if you look high?

Try discoproductions.org to look for upcoming events. I really haven`t been part of the N.O. party scene for some time,but Disco`s site has a lot of people still in the scene posting. Crime is kind of an issue in N.O.,espescially Bourbon Street,so please be safe. Also, N.O. is really hot this time of year so bring your shorts and swimsuits.

Be safe and have a great time in one of the biggest party cities in the world!

I imagine we will spend quite a bit of time in Bourbon street. What kind of crime are we talking? Mainly alcohol related violence and assaults? or more like robbery etc?

I'm going to latin america after this, so I guess I will have to be in my guard for most of the trip.
 
Tourists tend to stand out,and make easy marks for theives. Alot of fighting,and snatch and run type of thefts. Bourbon is a fun place but trust me N.O. has a very good underground scene. You might also want to look up The Dragons Den in N.O. for some dubstep,or Ampersand for the more trendy nightclub scene.
 
id check out the caliope or magnolia neighborhoods..i heard its a nice scenic area

in america basically anytime you can find a martin luther king street,doesnt matter what city your in..just drive along that and take in the city

Sound advice from my experience. Haha that's classic tho me and my boys were just talkin the other day about how you never see nothin named after MLK anywhere but hoods.

yeah I gathered about the Martin Luther King thing. I'm going with my girlfriend who is American so she'll keep me in line when it comes to being a dip shit and walking around the ghetto taking pictures at night.

the magnolia and calio projects are gone. ampersands is a club worth checking out. go to www.discoproductions.org to see if any djs might be alyin while you are in the area. there is allways plenty good clubs to check in the nola. the cops dont fuck around nd some of the crookedest in the world stay safe.

forgot bout dragons den aswell. i have allways just had just as good a tyme in a whole in the wall bar with good bluesman palying
 
I would stay far, far away from Bourbon Street. Or rather, go there and check it out, just make sure you aren't rolling or tripping, cuz it will totally bring down your roll if you are. Instead, just check it out when you are drinking and try to remember that it isn't representative of all of humanity or else you will want to kill yourself.

Try Frenchman street and Decatur street, both of which are close to Bourbon Street and border the French Quarter, but aren't as disgusting, depressing, or as expensive.

the projects there may be gone but crackheads,junkies and gang members who will shoot you for wandering into their area(at night especially) and stick up artists, etc..New Orleans is a cool city, and you just gotta keep your head on and know where you are at, and where not to go. The locals will tell you where not to go, lol..in the bars anyway, otherwise a crack fiend might say he has some great deal on any drug you want , and take you into a bad area, or into an alley and rob you..
 
As an answer to your question "do you the police search you if you look high?"....not in New Orleans. Give me a person on a low dose MDMA experience and put him in a street full of drunks and he will look sober. Just be safe and keep your money hidden as I was robbed at knife point my first trip to Mardi Gras.
 
better than the quarter is Frenchman St.. the real deal. where the locals go...best restaurant in town, Clarey's. it's my hometown. Laissez le-bon-temps Roullez!! (let the good times roll!! have fun. cops are cool tho, they understand....
 
My man...steer clear of Martin Luther King in New Orleans. That's a rough strip...

Check out One Eyed Jacks. Spent a crazy long night there last year and barely made our flight home. Bouncers basically are there to collect a paycheck...no hassle at all. Waiter at the Loews told us about the place and it was crazy when we went. By the way...if you happen across the Loews or Commander's Palace, try the Corpse Reviver #2 drink. It will change your outlook on life.

Another fun thing to do while rolling through NO...hit the Asian massage parlor near the Ritz Carlton on Canal. No, not that kind of massage parlor... Get the foot rub before you come down. They use these stones on your feet that feel fucking amazing. Have fun in NO.
