We want to make a statement showing that marijuana usage is spread right across society . To demonstrate that business people , professionals and the pillars of society are also using the herb ....
Arnold Schwarzenegger Decriminalized it for medical use in the U.S.A.. Why are we falling so far behind when we could be advocating Medical Marijuana for all the people suffering and being fed extremely addictive pharmaceuticals
************************************************************
Also why is it Decriminalized in Adelaide and you can have 3 plants ?
The same in Canberra but two plants ...
Come one come all Children , parents everyone is welcome - especially non smokers who are for the medical benefits it provides ...
Harvard university has proven that with cannabinoid research they have cut the growth of a cancerous tumour cell in half.. I feel very strongly that our Government should start implementing alternatives ..
************************************************************
The U.S have now taken a part of T.H.C and classed it as a schedule 3 drug for medicinal use whilst keeping the plant schedule A .. Proving its medicinal qualities .. Dont be surprised if they start selling people Cancer reducing tablets for a fortune in the near future .. This has now been passed by their Government and is supposedly for children with ADD

I think it would be worth taking a look at, fortunately I have next wednesday off work and was thinking this would be worth going to. I haven't heard any mention of this in the media, purely from the facebook invite from one of our other bluelighters ;)

It's currently at 1,815 people attending, for those of you who feel like rallying and fighting the good fight I'll most likely see you there next week.

Dont mean to be picky but......adelaides laws is 1 outdoor (male or female) and none under lights, not 3 as stated. Spewn i cant go to this will be in melbs the weekend after.

thanks for passing that one on thestudent, must be a top bloke whoever invited ya... %)

I really wonder what the jacks are gonna do if/when people start lighting up in protest. Any sort of precedent for this sort of action in melbourne before??

Either way smoking or not would love to see heaps of bluelighters jump on this...not sure what uni/placments will allow me to make but will deffo be trying my hardest to get there!

^ I imagine that the cops wouldn't do much. too many people would be doing it for them to start arresting people. besides, keeping order for the police is alot more important than some young people smoking a joint. a crime which I doubt many of them care about on a personal level (even an operational level to be honest).

"Why are we falling so far behind when we could be advocating Medical Marijuana for all the people suffering and being fed extremely addictive pharmaceuticals."

Such a true statement.. For once, rather than following, Australia could lead in something.

It is a really cool idea, and something that should be done more than once - but I have an issue with the time of the event. It sucks that the point of the protest is to suggest that not all smokers are cliché-biscuit-eating-sloth when the rally is held during a period when only undergrad students or the partially/unemployed can turn up. Being a postgrad student; I can't make it, and it's really annoying :!

yea i hear that, but its all done for because of 420. really sucks that australians havne't jumped onto 420 culture. back in the US virtually EVERYONE knows what 420 and will have a little chuckle about it. even my middle aged religious/completely straight mother knows what it is and will have a laugh if the time happens to be 420.

but yea agreed its shit cuz of work and all....but 420 is stoners "happy time" %)

but 420 is stoners "happy time" %)

Everyday is a real stoners "happy time" :p

I had totally forgot that is was 4/20 tommorrow, it really isn't so significant in Australia in my experience. Most of my mates who don't look up drug information on the net have never heard of it, to be honest I have absolutely no idea what the actual significance of it is.

I have some shit to do tommorrow and unfortunately wont be attending despite the fact I really would of liked to, if for no other reason than to try meet up with some other BLers who were going. LOL

I would love for Australia to become a world leader in cannabis law reform but in reality I don't see it happening. I certainly do not discourage protests like this although I think yagecero made an excellent point about the time and people who work or study not being able to attend. They should of really thought of that, I think an early morning protest on a weekend would be good because half the people that believe the propaganda probably think we sleep all day on weekdays, let alone weekends.

It really is crazy that marijuana is illegal, CRAZY! I remember when my dad lectured me the first time I got caught smoking weed, he said from the get go cannabis is safer than alcohol (and he loves a drink) but because it is illegal spooky/shady drug dealers add all sorts of things to it and he genuinely believed this. It is quite amusing when you think about what toacco companies add to their product before producing cigarettes, I have actually pondered once or twice if marijuana were to become legal companies would find a way to justify additives in an attempt to make it more potent and/or habit forming.

hope today goes well, im spewing i cant make it in. im driving to melbs tomorrow.
im prety bent right now after night shift, happy 4/20

Only just relocated to melb and if the rain holds out im going to support. Haven't smelt the lovely stench of Mary since moving down here.

Happy 4/20 guys.

wow that seemed to be really successful. i'm TERRIBLE with guesing numbers but by my eye looked to be nearly 1000?

pretty dissapointing to see so many people looking like the typical washed up dirty bong heads. seemed to be more random kiddies migrated from hanging at flinders street to the protest than actual people who cared going.

cop presence was pretty well non-existent, there was only 3 jacks standing there crossing their arms wondering wtf to do. was pretty brilliant could smell it as soon as i left melbourne central.

anyone else go? would love to see more stuff like this, but alas i'm not too hopefull if the only people who show up look like they haven't showered in weeks and have more safety pins holding their clothes thogether than actual clothes.....

hope everyone had a marvelous 420, keep fighting the good fight soldiers!
