Me & my fiance work for/ travel with a Carnival.
Not sure if this is posted in the right place, if not, i apologize!

But, i was wondering...has anyone else ever had an issue with Soma's causing your muscles tense up (IE: something like restless leg syndrome tensing/cramping/uncontrollable muscle movement..)

I did Soma's once when i was 19 (am 23 now) and those were the side effects i felt, which was not enjoyable in the least. I did around 3-5....though i cannot recall the MGs.

Right now i have half a soma sitting in my room that my fiance left for me to do if i decide to take it (not sure the Mg of it either, he already crushed it for me to snort and he didn't even know the Mg, a friend gave him a couple last night for his back ache)

I wonder if this half a soma will cause the same undesired side effects as they once did in the past.

Thank you.

Soma is a muscle relaxant, but does lower the seizure threshold, and in higher doses can cause convulsions and the like. Half a Soma isn't much at all, I don't know if it would do anything, but I doubt it would cause unpleasantness as you have experienced before with higher doses. If you suffer from a seizure disorder already, I wouldn't take it just to play it safe. Don't snort it, take it orally if you decide to take it, again it might not do much. Oh, and something everyone knows about Soma, is that it is very unpredictable from one dose to the next. Hope this helps.

Everybody reacts to drugs differently so there is no way for anyone to tell if you will have the same undesired effect. IME soma has never done that to me or anyone I know. But if you had a bad reaction in the past perhaps it would be best to not take it. And if you do just take a small dose.

The only way to tell is to take the half and see, considering it would be a much lower dose than you took in the past IF you do have a bad reaction it shouldnt be as severe.

I wouldn't take it. I'm not a fan of the whole "take it and see what happens" way of thought. You took it once in the past and had a bad experience, so there's a good chance it will happen again. The best way to avoid complications like you experienced before is to NOT take the offending drug.

Thank you everyone....boredom got the best of me and i decided to do it. No unwanted muscle 'contractions' this time, but it did actually slightly relax me as i had hoped.

About the seizure thing....i have never had one nor do i have a family history of them...however, are you saying that my reaction to them could mean i may have a seizure/be capable of having one?

ALSO....Seroquel (not sure on spelling, sorry) was the worst thing i had ever taken. I do not remember the dosage but it was a little high...and it gave me the worst muscle contractions/tensing EVER...so bad that i could NOT sleep and it was VERY painful and i was seriously considering going to the hospital (my fiance had taken the same amount and had NO side effects)...but it was so horrible, my muscles were tensing to the point it felt as if they were going to break/tear (its really hard to explain!).

The fact that you're experiencing these types of side effects (severe muscle pain/rigidity) when you take a neuroleptic type of drug makes me think you could possibly suffer from a disorder called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS). It can be very serious and presents itself with symptoms very similar to what you are experiencing, and is set off when someone with the disorder takes any type of neuroleptic drug. While it is most common with antipsychotic drugs (such as Seroquel), it can be seen with other drugs affecting the CNS (Soma being a possible candidate). While I'm not a doctor and can't diagnose you, it may be worth taking a look. Read the Wiki article for more info and see if the symptoms match with what you've experienced: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuroleptic_malignant_syndrome .

Wow, that is quite interesting! I had never heard of this before so i am going to start reading into it! Thank you!

Though, i am curious....does pills such as Xanax or Valium or Kpin, ect, fall into the same catagory as the somas and seroquel? Because i have taken sooooo many Xanax and the like without any undesired side-effects (except for blacking out every time on xanax, which i actually enjoy, lol.)...

Again, thank you!

I actually said it would be best not to take it. BUT the only way to tell whats going to happen would be to take it. Try reading the whole post.

You may have said it would be best not to take it, but the gist of your entire post basically ended up encouraging him to take it and find out what happens since it was such a small amount. First you say "it's best not to take it", then you say "take the half pill and see" - basically trying to legitimize your misguided and contradictory advice by stating that since it's such a small amount, the reaction won't be as bad. Your logic is severely flawed in terms of reducing the risk of a bad reaction.
