Hello, i have a question relating to long term use effects of MDMA. I am 19 years old and I have been using MDMA for about year and a half, on average i would say i popped at least 3-5 pills a week. But now, i have been clean from MDMA since the beginning of the 2011 year, with the help of cannabis that is. I recalled reaching the point where i messed up my cognitive functions(short term memory), i rmb being so scared at that point and searching online for supplements i can take such as l-tyrosine, 5-htp and St.John's Wort. I was then taking these supplements with MDMA for the last 5 months of my useage.

The MDMA pills i picked up at couple points were brownish...(i dont know if this is normal)

But like i said, im 3 months clean right now and i just would like to know how long it will take for my brain to fully recover under my circumstances. Also, i still to this day i barely talk to any of my friends, or even both my bestfriends of 4 years. For some reason i just dont feel like i have that much fun with them like i used to and they keep asking me why i am mia(missing in action) when i really just want to be alone. That is the thing too, i feel as though im isolating myself now.

The only thing i do these days is work 30h week, besides that i stay home, play games and smoke weed, i barely speak to anyone on msn. Any advice or information that would help me in any way is appreciated!!!

Stay away from MDMA...You really did a number on your brain.
Give it at the very least, a year.

Hi Johniebwoi

Id reccomend you continue with your rest from MDMA for the foreseeable future until your feeling much better.

Its A possibility smoking the weed may not be helping to.

Getting out and about in the fresh air and being active may also help rather than just moping about the home on your own.

Even if you want a break from your friends for A while, concentrating on yourself, exercising, eating healthy etc I find tends to keep you motivated and at your best.

You could just go for A long walk of an evening or maybe go swimming once A week if you dont want to do anything strenuous.

I think youll find in time youll start feeling your normal self again and being able to relate to people much better.

This upcoming september im attending university as a nursing student. Do you think the MDMA will affect me in any way, mentally and socially?

Yeah Bro you went a bit too heavy on your intake for 2010 and you will probably suffer the cognificents for quite some time. Your gonna feel pretty slow thats for sure.

I know for a fact that the marijuana will probably only slow your recovery down...it frys your short term memory and can make you paranoid and anxious...I recommendation to dropping it altogether.

Get yourself into a gym...start eating fruits and veggys of all the colors of the rainbow..eat fish and stay active. Get yourself a good coloring book and a big set of blocks or legos...recovery will come eventually. Just start slow and dont do anything to frusteratin to your brain.

My first thought was "Why the hell is MS posting in this thread"
But that was a halfway decent post.
Bravo!

I liked the "pick up a coloring book and some legos" made me lol :D

Anyways bro, you put your brain through some tough times man. You can't expect to fuck for three days straight without your dick getting sore can you? As for the cognitive problems, while your birds sore, I'm sure peeing feels a bit off to, you get my drift?

Now, your brain is a bit more sensitive than your cock, so as you can imagine, so will be your recovery. I'd highly suggest eating VERY healthy, exercise 5 times weekly, some good supps like fish oil, multi vitamin and b complex and you'll see leaps an bounds in a few months. Try some piracetam, that shyt will be like your Viagra for your brain.

That's the physical part, now comes to hard part, the mental. This part can be the most tricky, and detrimental journey youve ever endeavoured. The key to this part, is stay optimistic, you should be, with time you'll get much much better. Don't regret or slurry to figure out why, that'll send you further down the rabit hole. That's like stressing about trying to get a hard on, the more you focus on it anxiously, the less chance the little mans going to want to cooperate.

So just chilllllllll man, keep weed to weekends only, and for godsakes stop rolling. If it makes you feel better, I'm still on that road, and I'm not feeling like socializing either, all my boys said the same thing "why you been such a spook dude?", I'd just lie because I never felt like chilling.

Hole this helps.

Ahhhhh, I'm not exactly good in that particular area lol I was clean for about 7-8 months, feeling alot better, just alot of anxiety. Then got drunk and rolled again, it calmed my anxiety n shyt, but think it set me back a bit but oh well. So about 5 days lol

Yeah man readings good, meditation is wicked, just don't stress about it, it'll create some nasty rewiring that you'll want to avoid (basically the larger neural network becomes, the easier to stimulate [grows] and harder it is to "prun"/avoid, your brains a powerful thing don't underestimate it), aswell maybe try some SJW Kira brand, that shown to up-regulate your 5ht1a and 5ht2a receptors, which most definately have been down-regulated from your abuse.

You'll be iteee, keep your chin up.

i stopped taking SJW and 5-HTP couple months ago, i heard that if you continuously use these pharmaceuticals after a couple months its not as beneficial anymore. I was also wondering what other specific or supplements i can take to increase my recovery?

Good question, I'll give my you some nice specifics, expensive, but I'm sure it'll equal out to rolling everyweekend.

Bacopa - shown to repair damaged neurons and dendrites
Ashwagandha - anti anxiety, shown to repair and sprout new/damaged dendrites
Piracetam - shown to increase cell membrane permeability, neuroprotective, helps cognition (b vit)
Lions mane - shown to cross the blood brain barrier and directly increase NGF in the brain for production of new cells, 6 months on this and your brain will literally be bigger, with exercise of course so the new cells can perform under stress.
Niacin (vit b3) - dilates blood vessels in the brain, I'm sure you can see why it's good..
Picamilon - neuroenhanced version of GABA and niacin (vit b 3) has high permeability to cross the blood brain barrier as GABA and niacin giving you a anti anxiety effect, cyc useage
PhosphatdylSerine - a key part to every brain cells membrane structure, and helps increase hippocampus (memory etc..) volume at 800 mg daily
Pyritinol - Grandaddy nootropic, helps with mental alertness and prevents mental fatigue
Inositol - Turns into phosphatdylinositol, important component of every cell membrane, good for cell growth, function, sensitivity of serotonin recouped, and simple transduction of messaging, which is said to improve mood
CDPCholine - turns into achetyolchloine, most important NT for memory, must use if taking with pireacetam as it uses it up, one needs the other
Alpha lipic acid - great anti oxidant
Curcumin - shown to increase the BDNF expression in plasma blood levels, therefore increasing neurogenesis rate, also an Non selective MAO-A/B inhibitor so it'll help your mood
Ginko biloba - helps with blood flow to the brain, cognition, and memory.
CalMag - helps with absorbsion of minerals and vits in the brain
And most importantly a good fish oil, high DHA , helps myleination of your axons and terminals and is great for brain function overall.

Anything else? Btw don't buy any of these at walmart, order online from a reputable company.

Well, you didn't mention any out of control anxiety or panic attacks...

That means you are MUCH better off than most others that come here looking for help.

My first three months after were HELL.
Month four was a little better.
Im in month five now and things are continuing to improve.
By month six or seven I expect to be fully functional.

I was a moderate user.
Some other recovering BLers will tell you it takes a year or two!

There is a LOT of information out there to digest if you want it.
There has been substantial research on MDMA in the scientific community, but it can be hard to digest.

I recommend looking up some of my other posts if you want a lot of detail. I have really tried to translate that shit into plain english.

A short version:

Your serotonin network exists primarily for digestion. 95% of your serotonin is in the intestines!

The serotonin innervation in the brain is among the most complex of all neurotransmitter systems.
You have caused a 'down-regulation' of the receptors in this vast network.

Serotonin has a direct impact on bloodflow in the brain. This was understood prior to MDMA research.
Now, research shows that former MDMA users display a DECREASE in blood flow to many regions of the brain, evidence of damage to the serotonin axons.

Some will also show an INCREASE in bloodflow to these regions for many weeks or months after. This is a marker of neurotoxicity AND recovery.

Eventually bloodflow is normalized...and the brain will show even symmetrical blood distribution. This is incredible. They don't know how the brain accomplishes this.

Other types of chemical or physical injury to the brain typically results in a process known as 'gliosis'...which means a type of scar tissue forms in the brain. With MDMA, this does not happen! This is important, because it may be what allows the recovery process to happen.

It is believed that up-regulation of serotonin receptors is largely responsible for the correction of bloodflow. Research shows that over a protracted period of time, the receptors are re-sprouting.

However, research also shows that the re-innervation in some areas of the brain is highly irregular. The most vulnerable areas appear to be in the frontal and prefrontal cortex, where the serotonin nerves are more fiber like and possibly more fragile.

Regardless of this, bloodflow is restored, which suggests a compensatory mechanism. Perhaps changes in other neurotransmitter systems is taking place.

Research has also shown that long term heavy users (often 200-400 pills lifetime) take between 1-2 years to recover from the 'depression'.

Brain scans have verified that the re-innervation in some former users is irregular, but they cannot see everything with these scans.

Amazingly, the VAST majority of former users DO recover. And they appear to function like normal human beings!

The odds are overwhelmingly in your favor.
You are going to be fine.
But it takes time.

The brain will not heal within a time frame that you prefer. You live life day to day. The brain heals in months....at the minimum.

Give yourself at LEAST 12-24 months to recover before you even consider doing ANY psychedelic drug. That means MDMA, LSD, mushrooms, and others. These are serotonin agents and you have no business with them anytime soon.

Also, remember that your intestines hold almost all of your serotonin. When I feel lots of 'head-pressure' I can normally point to my intestines as the cause.

Eat lots of fruit and veggies. Lots of protein.
Go easy on the carbs. They increase serotonin in the brain, which is not what you need right now.

Same thing with the weed. It increases serotonin.
You don't just have a shortage of serotonin or these things would help. You have a shortage of storage space for it.
Go easy on your intestines and your drug use.

Good luck.

Hey Somedud, I got your PM but I can't respond yet.
I'm still a greenlighter because I don't post often enough.
I just ramble on and on when I do post....lol.

Send me another message and let me know how you are doing.
How is the libido going?

Now that you've mentioned it First_Bad_Comedown, on a daily basis i would always feel worried, for no apparent reason. i always thought it was caused by the way i think but now im not even sure.

Can any MDMA EXPERTS explain to me a situation of an anxiety disorder or panic attack by a recovering MDMA patient?

BTW I would also love to hear your 3 month "HELL" story so please share :)
