Your Favourite Fruit!

I'm learning that I like every fruit, but there are some that are just meant to be:

Melons (all 3 of 'em!)
Bananas
Strawberries
Dates!
Oranges
Raisins

I've been eating on average 2 oranges a day lately, can't get enough of them. :)

it isn't sexy, but the banana takes the top spot for me... cheap, full of calories, and versatile. great with savory dress-ups, and just sweet enough on its own!

I couldn't possibly pick one.

But lately I've been on a papaya kick. Love eating it with the seeds -- the world's simplest salad ever. Also good with lime juice and cayenne pepper.

Has anyone tried the Asian "apple pear" (or "pear apple")? SO good! OMG. Not my favorite, but it's up there. I've always liked pears but the ones that taste the best IMO are too soft/mushy to eat enjoyably. This tasted like a really delicious pear with a tiny hint of apple, with the firmness of a medium-crisp apple.

Highly suggest anyone who has access to these try one. :D

^ YES! They are SO good! Ahaha, gonna def. pick up a couple when I go to the store soon. Even if they are damn expensive (well, they seemed it).

Been on quite the orange kick lately, eating two to three every day. It's so strange considering my aversion to anything citrus for the past couple years (baaaad suboxone experience 8)).

Sooo up for one of these. Will have to look around the asian shops.:)

^ I found it in the regular supermarket! Picked up three today since they were on sale. They're normally about $1.50 a piece--Were $1 each. :)

Has anyone tried jackfruit? I dunno whether I can really say its my favourite as I have only ever had it once - however, it was without a doubt that tastiest fruit I have ever eaten!

Things I eat regularly it has to be canteloupe or mango!

^ Never heard of jackfruit--Will have to see if the store near me has it when I go next!

Picked up a bag of kiwis that was on sale--6 for a little over $2. Was sadly disappointed that they're not as sweet as I remember--I was craving something SWEET the other day. :P

I've gone through basically two bags of oranges in six days. I think I have an addiction to citrus now.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the larger naval oranges and the smaller ones? The larger ones are about the size of a grapefruit--They taste funny to me. Not nearly as good as the smaller ones. Not sure if it's just my imagination or what. :P

I generally try and avoid the freakishly large fruits. They're farther from their natural ancestor, because they've been deliberately bred / genetically engineered for a larger fruit = higher yield = bigger profit margin for the grower.

Whenever and wherever you find human beings fiddling with the genetic underpinnings of crops, in the attempt to make them bigger / seedless / disease-resistant / etc., you'll always have a fruit that's less nutritious and less fun to eat. Best watermelon? You're spitting out half a dozen big black seeds with every bite.

Has anyone tried the infamous durian? I've yet to try it but it's always been intriguing.

^Ick!! I personally hate durian, I think they are a weird texture and smell awful. However, I know a lot of people do like them... my best friend loves them.
