Hey folks:),I've been wondering about how much methadone I should start with for a 3000mg+ a day tramadol habit.
I started this nightmare drug to get off pods and other pills only to find my addiction worse and withdrawal worse on tram than pods or H.
I've finally worked up the nerve to start mmt after repeated attempts at getting clean, its really the last straw for me.
I've done the meth before but was always mixing a 10mg pill of it with other opes, how much ya think it will take to stabalize me from the 3000mg per day tram habit?

thanks

3000?! You realize the seizure threshold is around 400mg, right? If that is in fact your true habit I would highly recommend tapering down substantially, even before switching to MMT. Because tramadol also effects serotonin and norepinepherine, the withdrawal from that habit is going to be fucking brutal. Something like withdrawing from an opiate as well as an SSRI/SNRI. I would suggest taking something to reduce the risk of seizure, unless you already do.

If you do decide to go the MMT route, then be honest with the clinic about your habit/usage and they should know the best course of action. Most clinics start you off around 30mg a day and titrate your dose up slowly.

If you are planning on doing this on your own I would think twice, and highly recommend seeking professional help. Atleast see some kind of physician, or if worst comes to worse go to the hospital.

We don't allow basic dosage questions in OD though, I would search around and you can find some basic conversions on the internet/bluelight. This will probably get closed, but I am gonna leave it open for a bit because I think some more information is needed in order to prevent anything negative happening to you..

Hands down, I will NOT bullshit you, and as Brokedown put it, that is a very, very dangerous habit. I wouldn't recommend switching from a mild *opioid* and I use that term loosely to a stronger one like methadone. What you really need to do is go see a doctor, that is thin ice. Unless someone is an MD/pharmacologist here then I doubt you should listen to exactly what they say. Your doc may be able to find you a safe taper sched that allows you to detox with only tramadol.

I can honestly say i have never ever heard of anyone taking that much tramadol a day and not switching to a stronger pain killer.

Sounds like the above poster has the right idea, id consult a dr on that one. i didnt even know you could take that much n a day without having constant seizures....so the WD is probably going to be different than the usual dope/oxy kick.

i think a detox with tramadol makes sense if you can get a dr to agree to help you with it.

OP please go to a doctor now! If your not shitting us you could experience a life ending seziure at any moment. Im not just saying that to scare you its the honest god damn truth.

I will say that I can personally attest to being in a similar situation a few years back. Only about 1/2 the ammount you're taking, but I can understand how it can spiral out of control. All joking aside though, you really need to switch. Hell I would never -ever- say something like this, but in the ammounts of tramadol you are taking, heroin would be a safer alternative, just to put things in perspective for you. You really need to taper down the tramadol, and fast.

go to the doctor man.

Tram is a weird drug and your situation is much much worse health wise than a regular opiate habit.

You must have the wrong mg or not on tramadol or something cause thats like 60 50mg pills a day... i dont even know how you can obtain that many EVERY day... thats like over 1800 50mg pills a month?!? Is it even possible to find this many??

I havent done tramadol recreationally and if this IS the right amount I don't know how you stuck with tramadol and didnt move to something else? I would think honestly switching from a high dose of tramadol to like oxy is safer in a way.

Sorry i dont have any helpful advice here but im just kind of 50-50 on this being true

I'm sorry I just dont see how it's possible for somone to take that much tramadol a day. They would definently have a seizure. Even if the poster was taking alot of anti-seizure drugs, it just doesn't seem probable.

get some pregabalin or neurontin FAST! you could seriously fuck yourself up from seizures. seriously see a doctor and get his advice and get on an anti-seizure med quickly before anything else.

please listen to all the advice that has been given it is exactly what you need to do. like somebody already said, with tramadol it is not as simple as switching to another opiate. there is also the SNRI properties of tramadol that could really fuck with your head if you switch to another opiate and just STOP the tramadol... you wont withdrawal from the opiate properties, although you will most likely become severely depressed among other things. it would be like stopping an anti-depressant cold turkey, which will give you horrible withdrawal symptoms like brain zaps, etc. you should probably take another SNRI while you make the jump to another opiate and then taper from that as well.

jesus 3000mg is just such a high dose, be careful and take the advice given!!

Wowzers.............he must mean 300mg. Like one of the above posters mentioned, you are better off doing heroin than 3000mg of Trams, if that dosage is accurate, not that heroin is the way to go either.

I would suggest taking Lyrica to help get off tramadol. It will help you a lot.

Honestly though OP, when I was binging on tramadol I was only taking 400-450mg 3 times a day and that burned me up fast, you need to stop.

You are also going to have to use some kind of antidepressant and taper that too. It took a year and a half for me to taper off 100 mg of zoloft. Ssri withdrawl is nasty shit.

Can't say, stumbled onto this thread looking for the same conversion.

Can say that 3000mg per day (not per dose!) of tramadol is not entirely unheard of. In much of Eastern Europe in the early 2000s, tramadol was the only unmixed opioid prescription on the market, and many street heroin users switched to it because it has exhibited extremely low cross-tolerance with classical opiates, and eventually ran up ridiculously high tramadol tolerances. Thus, a heavy heroin user might risk a fatal OD on a one-off dose above 400mg, but heavy tramadol users typically take 700mg or more for a light buzz, YET STILL HAVING LITTLE TO NO OPIATE TOLERANCE FOR OTHER DRUGS. The seizure risk *appears* to be dependent on tramadol tolerance, since during the early years after tramadol's introduction to the former Soviet Union, when it was pretty much available OTC, addicts purchasing 3-5 200mg pills or 2-3 ten-pill sheets of 35mg and taking them right outside a pharmacy was a common sight.

I have personally known many people with such usage patterns, who, to the best of my knowledge, are quite alive and well.

Taking into account that a high tramadol tolerance barely affects ones tolerance for codeine/morphine/heroin, but that both tramadol and methadone are synthetic mu-agonists, it is very difficult to guess how tramadol tolerance would affect methadone dosage.

PS do note that tramadol withdrawals are 2+ weeks long and commonly described as much worse than heroin withdrawals. Then again, the same is said of methadone withdrawals, which may indicate cross-tolerance between these two mu-agonists.

Possible. Typical tramadol fiend quantity, SWIM's done 30-50x 35mg pills, and some people SWIM knew did that much or more. Anti-seizure drugs NOT recommended, could potentiate respiratory depression. A typical tramadol addict OD ends in "victim stopped breathing" (seen it barely averted) or liver failure (mainly for APAP-combined pills, but not unheard of with pure tramadol), not a seizure (never seen it). Seems like seizures are a risk for non-users, while heavy tolerant users run the usual opioid abuser risks like falling asleep and not waking up.

i have to say to the people freaking out about seizures at 300mg a day

the box i found of my dads was prescribed at him for the exact amount of 300mg per day and he has never went in to seizures

i took a fair bit over the past few days to help with my methadone wd's and never seizured either

its just like everything else you take ,,, you have the risk of something happening to you when you use it, some might have a bad reaction some wont

it seems people have been scare mongering about this drug for too long imo

sorry just woke up ... just realized the OP is taking 3000mg per day . i thought it said 300mg

only advice i have is like someone said you will start at roughly 30mg a day and work ur way up to what u feel u need .. but always remember , dont be greedy with it cos u like the high because the more you take is the more you have to get off of in the end

i see people that go way over what they need with their meth scripts cos they think they are cool that they needed more than you.. they are just idiots tho cos it will just take longer for them to get off of their script

I don't really know if it's possible to build such a tolerance to tramadol just because of a very low seizure threshold.

It's hard with getting on programs here, we've got like 10. So I was once prescribed tramadol to taper down from MORPHINE and LEVORPHANOL, the guy must have not been listening to me in the clinic. Anyways, I've got a clonazepam habit as well. Tramadol didn't do anything for me even at 1600mg but the only reason I took such a dose of this shitty drug was a high level of clonazepam in my body.

I don't really believe someone could bear 3000mg/day without taking some anticonvulsant. The other thing is subjective feeling after taking that much. It's not like a regular opioid and increasing the dose isn't linear for sure. It's even actually hard to say how much methadone would be alright to start with - I mean, one could give some range of doses ONLY in theory...

If somehow it is all true, a detoxification from such a dose of tramadol needs medical supervision because of pharmacodynamics of the drug.

Also, why would it be a mistake if OP wrote "3000mg" twice? It's either some serious condition or trolling.
