Pokemon Black/White on R4

I recently added Pokemon Black and White to my R4 on my DS. The games won't load and these are the only games I've had this problem with. All my other freebie games run fine. Is the problem going to be the ROM files themselves or would I need a newer R4 for the DS? Please help as I may end up doing the unthinkable and paying full price for the real games...8(

Why would I do that when I have an R4 card with over 100 games I downloaded for free? Retail is for suckers..
