Does grapefruit juice also affect the effects of dihydrocodeine? I'm guessing that the ansWER is yes, given that you just attach a hydrogen atom to the chloride of the dimorphism...?

Uh, hydrogen to the chloride atom? Lol what...? That doesn't even make any sense, grapefruit juice inhibits the enzyme that breaks down opioids, but dihydrocodeine needs to be metabolised to work effectively so if you're stopping that from happening you won't get as high, so don't take it with dihydrocodeine/codeine.

^ Dihdyrocodeine works by itself without needing to be metabolized into dihydromorphine first. Although it does have these active metabolites, they are in very small concentrations.

The wikipedia page on it is shit and so without bothering to do any research right now I'm going to say it could have the beneficial effect you seek, probably no downsides to trying.

ETA: I think what the garbled chemistry in the first post he is trying to get across is the saturated 7-8 bond of dihydrocodeine, which in codeine is an unsaturated double bond.

Hey Mr Squiggle!................................

Before starting new threads please use the search engine, if you can't find the info you need then please start a new thread with a meaningful title! 8)

Try these:

Grapefruit Juice as a Potentiator

A little bit of google ssearching goes a long way to. I found this in another BL archive: "The cytochrome P450-2D6 (CYP2D6) is the major enzyme mediating O-demethylation of dihydrocodeine to dihydromorphine. In contrast, nordihydrocodeine formation is predominantly catalysed by cytochrome P450-3A (CYP3A). " Given the effect of GFJ on CYP3A I'd say it'd have similar potentiation for DHC as it does for Codeine.... i.e. very minimal extension of duration, and perhaps some placebo effect.

By all means go nuts with the grapefruit juice though, plenty of Vitamin C if nothing else :)
