Opioids How can I lower my tolerance? (1g of oxy per day)

Damn and i thought i was bad doin like 10 roxy 30s a day you must have some hella connections and mad money for that...........but you need to detox yourself i would recomend waiting as long as you can without doing any if you can find them take some tramadol and when the withdrawl is bad enough eat suboxone for a week or so and that would successfully lower your tolerance to oxy however dont eat a lot of sub it doesnt make it any better

jesus, i would get on methadone for sure until you can wean down to get on bupe or tramadol to kick completely. a gram of oxy would cost around 500$ here....that is fucking insane.

for your sake i would go to a professional if you are really doing that much. you are in dangerous territory.

Actually, older people tend to need less of an opiate medication than normal aged adults.

Overall, men need less opiates than women as well.

These are things that I remember learning during the Opiates lecture of my pharmacology/toxicology course. :)

However, if you ask the question "will my tolerance get lower as I get older - as I do plan on continuing to use oxycodone every day...", I am sorry, I doubt any age-related tolerance change as you get older will barely be noticeable, as you have already pushed your tolerance quite high. This won't change until you get a nice long break off of it.

This may not apply to this situation, but race does play a small part in amount needed (asian/native americans and women generally need more to get the wanted effects) but in your case, it seems like just taking less + maybe potientators is the only way to lower tolerance.

if available, switching to another opiate for a month or so should drop your tolerance quite a bit. when my tolerance gets to the point i cant afford my habit, i switch over to suboxone for 2 weeks to a month and my tolerance goes down quite a bit.

Solution to lowering your opiate tolerance, do not use for two months.

There is getting 'high' and then there is just level.

Try staying level, sure its not as fun and you might find your stress level slightly increased but is it ever worth putting yourself in a situation where you could withdraw from a gram of oxycodone?

I can't see too many. Unless you have terminal cancer, do yourself a favor and start eating the pills while only taking enough to keep you 'fine' not 'high'.

Good luck with that.

I was IV'g a gram of oxy a day six weeks ago; now I've been at zero for ten days. It can be done, but there's no easy road. My situation was somewhat worse because I was also wired to methadone (which was part of the reason I took so much oxy)--this means my withdrawals last much longer. I used suboxone and did a two-week taper off that. Not recommended, as I sleep maybe an hour a day unless I have access to a phamaceutical sledgehammer (and I don't want to get wired to those). Still, if you have a Good reason to quit it can be done.

Other people have pointed out the virtues of tapering, but if you're serious about getting off or at least down then I would steer clear of oxy if you can--if you're like me your brain just wants more and more. It's illogical, as at a gram a day I didn't even feel that good. At best I got tired.

Do an oral taper on ms contin or something if you can. The last steps of a taper are always hard (e.g. once you get down to about 60 mg of morphine a day).

If you want completely off then once you're down to a human dose or whatever non-oxy opiate you've picked you could try doing a 10-day stepdown on something like methadone or sub. I hate to recommend either because of the length of the withdrawal, but I think the w/d is milder.

If, on the other hand, you still want to get high once in a while I would just bring down your tolerance and go on maintenance for at least a year. Keep the dose as low as possible because coming off methadone or sub sucks something awful.

i don't understand how people can afford habits like this over the long term.

my advice is to give plugging a try. i used to have to take 120mg at a time to get high, but i would only dose once a day. tolerance for me built exceptionally fast, and i only used on weekends, and not even both days either. instead of taking 120mg orally tho i could get away with plugging about 90-105mg and it would feel equivalent. maybe try giving that a try. you'll also find the high to last 2x as long compared to ur average high of 2 hours when snorting.

the longer u keep doing oxy like you are the more the "magic" of oxy will disappear. if you truly love oxy, then you'll hopefully try to force yourself to take a break and taper down. i took a break for like 3 months or so once and my tolerance hardly dropped. i was shocked and really disappointed. i'm on another oxy break right now, and as much as i want to use again, i feel like the longer i wait the more chance i'll have at lowering my tolerance, but some of it i think will be somewhat permanent. i dont think i'll ever be able to get my rocks off on 30mg anymore, but maybe with time, who knows.

I haven't used oxy in 8 months (very sad, i know), and am starting month 9 right now. i'm hoping to see a significant drop in tolerance, but we'll see. i'm thinking of planning on starting back up on oxy for special occasions over summer hopefully if the finances are in order.. (thats another issue).

I feel your pain I was there with 10 30 roxies at a time down the hatch 3-4 times a day. I tried everything but I had to check into inpatient and it was hell 16mg sub a day would not hold me until day 4 and it was brutal but a habit that big needs medical monitoring / care as your vitals may shoot through the roof.

I just need to toss this out there. When i have went off opiates (and even coke) for a long period and then picked back up yea the first 2 or 3 times i needed a smaller dose but it took No time at all for that tolerance to be back where it was.
Everyone is different but taking that much at a time now is really going to make things difficult later.

I mean withdrawals in themselves are hard to deal with but the higher the dose and longer you are on it the harder they hit.
I would really try lowering your dose and tapering off slowly all together for a while cause believe me when i say that the highs yea you will forget all about that fun once the habit gets too expensive and you must detox or heaven forbid you end up doing illegal stuff to cover it and end up in jail believe me kicking in jail is no walk in the park and No one really gives a darn about how ya feel

Tapering from such a high dose after an extended period of time can be sheer torture. First it takes a loong time and its withdrawal all the way down (as least for me). Oxy withdrawals are rough and seem to give a more mental mind fuk than most of the other opiates I detoxed from not sure if its the receptor that oxy attaches to ur what. Nothing else provides the same buzz or need for more as roxis (at least not for me orally speaking) I see how easy it was to lose all control. Please try and get some help its a wild dose and tapering will be very trying. I'm not suggesting you don't try as it would be most benficial.

I've often wondered about such a scenario and thought that taking Kratom or Pod tea while tapering down ones crazy high oxy habit would make success more likely / possible, but also much more pleasant, anybody have thoughts or experience with such a technique?

if you can afford a gram of oxy a day, you should be able to afford the best in detox facilities.
you're amazingly young to have such a habit, and no matter what you do, oxy is going to lose it's luster REAL soon. I recommend getting SERIOUS in patient help ASAP! Just make sure it's not a "tough love" kind of place, or you're gonna be kicking something horrible. You need to manage this taper with professional help. Good luck, you'll be in my prayers.

Just as a curious aside-do you have any pain issues, did it start as a legal rx and spiral out of control from there, or has it been illicit all the way through. Also, as someone who is tapering down from 45mg a day of hydro (down to about 30mg now), I can barely make my bowels work once a week. HOW does your digestive system function on this amount of Oxy? Or do you just not eat?

That is a crazy amount of oxycodone per day. I am also wondering how such a habit is financially feasible, unless you're a millionaire, or have access to pure oxycodone powder (unlikely). Even when I was working full time, a 200mg a day oxycodone habit quickly drained my savings and I could not keep up.

You should taper, since you are doing SO much a large cut should NOT be unbearable. I agree that you should definitely get professional help though. Problem is, a lot of detox/rehabs may not take you at that high a dose. I jumped off of 70mg methadone a day 25 days ago and NO rehabs/detoxes in my area would take me since it is "too much a risk". Lame, but true. The last resort wast the psych ward at the hospital but the one other time I was up there for heroin problems they made me detox cold turkey. Also, cutting me off of klonopin at the same time. I admitted myself voluntarily, but it was a locked ward so for some dumbass reason I couldn't sign myself out voluntarily. I had to stay up there for 8 days before finally convincing them I was 'ok' enough to go home. Needless to say I promptly relapsed.

Not trying to sound like I'm here just to lay down criticism, cause that isn't the case. However, I do think that using a controlled medical detox would be safer and more comfortable for the patient. Also, they would probably have better luck of sticking with a schedule if they were doing it with someone else (being monitored). While pods are great in the time of a pinch, they are an uncontrolled dose of opiates and this is not what you want when trying to lower your tolerance.

Just something to think about.

Are these oxys prescribed to you, if not, that is a very expensive habit! No way to lower your tolerance unless you stop for a while.

My gf is your height & weighs 115 pds. She has a natural high tolerance & shes like you, she snorts all her pills. I can take 30mg oxy & be high & feeling good but she needs twice as much to catch a buzz. It surprises me how her & her other skinny friends can do so much while I have to take way less. Im a skinny guy myself so I dont think its a weight thing. I think its the chemistry in the mind & body.

Believe it or not, but opiates never bothered my bathroom visits. I usually go once a day, I might miss a day here or there but ive never gone 2 or more days w/o going to the bathroom.
