I realized when I was replying to someones thread that most people seem to think that MDMA is "a techno drug" now, I don't disagree with this statement, but I don't think it's entirely true either. I personally like to listen to really good music (or my version of really good music) when I'm on MDMA. Stuff like Michael Jackson. Has anyone else tried listening to nice "feel good" music or just the regular music they listen to while on MDMA, rather than just techno?

I always listen to non-edm when I roll, mainly the regular stuff that's in my library... I don't know if I'd be able to listen to a edm only playlist while rolling. :P

I listen to a lot of punk/hardcore/older rock when rolling, two bands tend to always come up, Propagandhi and Terror, and I don't know why... they just click with my rolling mood.

I wouldn't use the word techno. I'd say electronic. And it's because synths and bass feel so good when rolling.
I don't get the same satisfaction with other types of music. I have had some fun rocking out to some metal though a few times (my fav. genre), and i was like YESSS!! and jumped around all smiley and what not . I think any music that you're passionate about would be great rolling.

Yeah, I could see how just regular music could be boring, and I see how electronic can be great, but I really feel amazing when I listen to songs like "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson or "I Can go the Distance" from Disney's Hercules. My absolute favorite is "Return to Innocence" by Enigma (youtube it, it's amazing) Just kinda slow "feel good" music, or music that just sounds really good, is a lot better for me than techno/electronic/dubstep. I do however, listen to Aqua and Toy Boxx sometimes when rolling o.o I know it's absolutely ridiculous music, but it's also really fun. lol.

Saying those three together is a very broad category. I don't think most people who roll listen to actual techno. Electronic is a huge category which a lot of genres fall under. House and Dance music can sound very different from dubstep. Do you even have electronic songs that you listen to? Or do you just not like any of it? Maybe you just haven't found the right music in the genre. I am very picky with my electronic music, but i have found a small library full of songs i LOVE rolling to.

I know exactly what you mean about the feel good songs. I myself listen to hip-hop, 80's rock, ambient, etc. and when i roll, i like to pick a few 'feel good songs' or songs that have a good tune from those different categories. It really depends on the mood i'm in, but typically i love rolling to the songs i listen to on a daily basis

I only put those together because they're common things that people who roll listen to/ it's believed that people rolling listen to.

Oh no, I definitely have electronic music that I like. I just believe that it's not the only good music while rolling. Sure, it's great sometimes, but it seems to be the only thing that a lot of people who commonly use MDMA listen too, including people who don't usually listen to it unless they're rolling. I'm not saying that it doesn't feel/sound awesome, but most people don't even try other music from what I've noticed.

My library ranges between: hip hop, psytrance, dubstep, electro, trance, house, hardstyle, death metal, extreme metal, black metal, blackened death metal, deathcore, and many others.

But when I roll I find myself listening to mainly trance, psytrance, dubstep, black metal, and deathcore. The bass that those genres have just take me to a whole new world, especially psytrance. Whenever me and my friends would roll at my house, I would give up control of the music every now and then because my taste in music varies greatly from my friends and I would feel like they were bored of what I was playing so I just let them play whatever they wanted.

I would say that EDM is definately my favorite for me when Im on MDMA, but metal is also absolutely amazing on MDMA.

I listen to EDM while sober, it's my favorite music. Why would I not listen to it when rolling? :D

I would say electronic is fun when you're rolling with a group, but any music is good when you're rolling. Anything. I remember rolling with a buddy of mine and we listened to stuff we hear in the club like rihanna and kesha, then got all sentimental and listened to Radical Face and Republic tigers. But we each took half a gram so EVERYTHING was spectacular ;)

I mainly like electronic for the afterglow days because it puts me back at being in that rolling state and dancing with friends and such. :)

Than you should listen to EDM when rolling!

I just see a lot of people tell people who usually hate it, that they should listen to it while rolling. It is fun when rolling, but if it's not your favorite when you aren't high, than it won't be as awesome as everyone else says it is when you are. A lot of people only listen to that kind of music while rolling because they're told it's so awesome, and don't even try different kinds of music that they like when they aren't rolling.

Can't do it. Need electronica :) (It's my fave while not rolling too)

Buuuuut, there was one time when someone put on reggae and I believe I was dancing a bit saying that it was such good music lol. Unusual for me. I'm willing to bet you could get into almost anything while rolling :D

I don't see MDMA being exclusively for electronic music. I have to admit I only appreciated EDM after my first time on pills, something about a large sweaty dance floor with every one loved up and reaching for the lasers that just fits. However any music that reaches your soul is a great match. I remember several years ago watching Hey Rosetta for the first time in a festival tent while a thunder storm rolled over head and it was magical. Violins, cello, piano, acoustic guitars all melded together as the eyes wobbled and my skin prickled. I am just as happy curled on a bed in front of a fire in my backyard listening to reggae or country as I am jumping up and down in a club.

PS I fucking love listening to Michael Jackson on molly. This is It is a great doco as the night kicks off.

classical music, big band jazz, slow (non-vocal, but not smooth) jazz, blues, and some "jammy" stuff i.e. Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, DTB is pretty good. I like anything with lots of sound, emotion, and texture that's not too aggressive.

I think part of the beauty of MDMA is that whatever you personally enjoy doing, hearing, or seeing on it just "feels right". I grew up with house music and EDM genres- but for people over 40 (or even 30) who roll (and there are plenty) they tend to not feel a connection to EDM, and veer way outside of it for music they roll too.

The reason why some people think that MDMA is a techno drug is that it tends to be most popular among EDM listeners. I would be willing to bet that there is a very strong correlation between MDMA use and liking EDM.

As Bsiren mentioned, anything you enjoy sober is just awesome on MDMA and that's the way it goes... =D

Most people in the world hate techno, please don't confuse EDM with techno. I would have to roll really hard to like that repetitive crap. EDM is great to dance to wile rolling, but any music you like can enhance the roll.
