Why so many closed threads?

Guys, I hope this thread won't be a seed of discord. PD always was a friendly place.

It would be a nice joke from mods if they closed this thread right after first post. :D But now I hope this thread will stay open for enough time.

I had this same thought as I was making the thread lol

Dwayne, don't be 'that guy'

I don't understand why people complain about the moderating. There's always someone though. Just remember there's no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Ok picture you are a mod, and you see a thread on the exact same subject as 100 times before. You know that a simple search in the wonderful search engine and a little effort on the part of the member would have....A) not made you come in and put forth just as much effort to close it and explain yourself and B) not have made it look like you are just trying to being mean when you are all about love and peace.

Just food for thought as I agree with Shambles about people being a little more laid back now. I used to get every thread I made closed back in '08 :)

Didn't used to be this way, but I too have noticed an uptick in moderation lately.

Kinda pisses me off frankly... mods seem lately to be acting like angry scolding schoolmarms, going crazy whacking everyone's knuckles right and left for flippant reasons.

Bluelight is about what THE MEMBERS wish to post and discuss... however, lately the moderators have been on their high horses running around trying to coral everything as if it's really all about their whims.

Storage should really not be an issue, but maybe that is the reason, who knows.

I politely disagree. I think the mods are stepping up the effort and doing a fantastic job. This place quickly becomes overcome with clutter if inappropriate/answered threads don't get closed.

Moderating is a volunteer job. These swirly folks are dedicating their free time to keep this place running smoothly. At the very least, they deserve everyone's respect. Not name calling. Also, I'm sure they would love to accommodate a reasonable request if approached through PM.

If, in fact, you desire less moderated drug forums, they are certainly out there. I stuck with bluelight not only because it was a welcoming community, but because it is the best organized and most accessible drug forum on the web. And I came in the era of Church, the thread-closingest mod in BL's history...one of the best.

Thank you mods!!!

I wish I'd caught more of Church's era. Man is a legend. But stuff changes. Each "epoch" in PD I've seen in my short time has been distinct in several ways. And each way seems to build upon the past. I'd love for Church or other folks that made big PD impressions on me to do their thang... but it ain't their time anymore. For better or for worse.

PD used to be almost scary for me to even try to post in. I had several accounts before this one and I was a dick half the time. I grew up a bit and got through a few issues and watched PD blossom. Was a beautiful thing. Even if only for me. But I suspect not.

Onwards and upwards again. I think the mods do a great job and as mentioned earlier - if you think you can do better then apply next time a position comes up and/or work with the current mod-team to keep this forum running as best it can for everybody. We all love it. Some put serious hours in too. Nobody's ever gonna be perfect.

LOL I get a kick out of people bitching about thread closing.

The first time I ever posted on BL, I started a thread in OD that was slightly unkosher and incurred the full wrath of PhreeX in his prime. :D Kids nowadays are getting soft I tells ya... darn whippersnappers...

Who closed the "Passover" thread yesterday? There was nothing wrong about that, and it was a topic for potentially great discussion. The "Passover" thread gets closed after a couple of replies, for being "not very in the name of harm reduction" (???).

^ Exactly. Seems to be quite a few judgement calls based on purely personal feelings of the mods whether to allow a discussion to occur, not necessarily based on hard rules of the site. Well perhaps this one was for the reason that it was more just social chit chat and not specific discussion of psychedelic drugs?

Is it not because "what should I take" posts are disallowed? It was a bit like that.

PS Anarchism can work, Solipsis! And if you think it can't, I suppose Current Affairs and Politics is the forum to take your views :p

Maybe you're right. Dude my understanding of the subject is probably more limited than yours but getting back to the subject of discussion which is the policies of PD, I think people have gotten a chance to do their saying, evidently there are differing opinions as there are expected to be in this place as good as any other.

Can I remind everyone that there is a 'suggestions / how to improve the forum' sticky where you can vent your constructive criticism.
Right now I wanna give you all a fair chance to give me a good reason to keep this thread open, because personally I am quite ready to move on.

^^ I would suggest leaving it open for 24 hours and seeing if someone says something meaningful.
You don't want "Why recent thread about frequent thread closing got closed?", do you? :D

Exactly, this is a logical nightmare. =D

edit:
