Insufflation Issue

Hello,

Fist time I've posted on here, checked the site quite a bit in the past though. Please accept my apologies if this I posted in the wrong place - I've also searched the forums for this and found plenty of posts on insufflation, but nothing specific to this so far.

I enjoy Ketamine, and usually use once a week. I've been doing this for about a year, and takng the stuff less frequently before that.

I never get nose bleeds, or pain in my nose, but what I have noticed in my right nostril, is that when i snort, it feels like it flys past the membrane and straight into my lung.. ALWAYS making me cough slightly. I traditionally always used the right as it is my primary nostril.

I can snort through the left with no such problem, although it is prone to blocking quicker. I never thought anything about this until recently when I started looking into it more.. obviously more is getting absorbed into my system through the left. My undertanding is thus:

Insufflation is the process of delivering the powder up hough your nose via breathing in, allowing the powder to be caught in the mucus membrane inside the nasal cavity and allowing rapid absorbtion. I understand that some is lost in the nostrils, and some will be caught in the excess mucus lining the throat (leading to the lovely drip).

I'm aware that insufflation does cause damage, but I'm wondering what peoples experience of this is? Can you damage the mebrane in one nostril enough that it no longer can longer absorb? Am I essentially just inhaling straight into my lungs when i use the right, and thus wasting?

I have experimented by using saline sprays to try and moisten the membrane, but i think this just causes more clogging in the nostril.

I'm not sure what people know, or even if there are medically knowledgable people on here, but I'm grateful for anyones input.

As I say, it's my first post and I'm not really sure what to expect.. I'm aware that I'm doing damage to my nostrils in the first place, but I'd just like to know exactly what, and if I can do something diferent to limit it.

Thanks in advance.

Might be worth trying to sniff less at once. With ketamine I always cut the line in half and have a line up each nostril - try that.

Thanks for the reply SpecialK. I too have taken to multiple smaller lines rather than larger lines.. Definately get a better hit off splitting a large line into smaller lines and leaving a couple of mins between each than powering though agiant line.

Trouble with the problem of it going (or seeming to go) into my lung, is that it happens with any amount, even the smaller lines. It's almost as if the mebrane has just dried up.. it just seems to pass straight though.

If it's getting into your lungs then you're sniffing waaaaaay to hard. You barely need to sniff at all - just inhale slow and smooth. You want the powder to land up in your nostrils. How far is it from line to nostril? Probably a coupla inches. How hard do you have to sniff to shift powder a coupla inches? Not very.

Go easy on the snorting part and keep your lines small would be my advice. Small lines sniffed gently and more often works way better than big lines sniffed hard. In my experience and all that.

If that doesn't work then I'd start to think about possible damage done to your nose. Noses ain't made for snorting. Especially if that snorting involves large amounts which is usually the case with ketamine used over prolonged periods. Other ROA may be more effective - IM is the obvious one. But depends on the ket you get.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I'm confident it's nothing to do with the rate at which I inhale. Firstly, this never used to happen, secondly, it doesnt happen in my left nostril. Sniffing to hard was the first thing I thought of mate, I've tried just barely sniffing it and it does the same.

I always do little lines, I believe loads is wasted when doing big lines.

I get through about 1.5 - 2g in a sitting, and it's usually once a week on weekends.

I'm fairly sure there is some damage done here.. I'd be keen to know what that is and what I need to do (if possible) to repair.

I can't get bottles of K, but the concept of IMing terrifies me anyway to be honest.

I'm going to try just using left for a bit to see if right gets any better.

Thanks for your input buddy, much appreciated.
