i know that this topic may be out of place and all but i don't really know where else i'd post this...

anyway, i take ~100 mg of seroquel as needed for anxiety and as a mood stabilizer. it works wonders and i've become quite fond of the drug (when all you have is a hammer...).

so today i had a great workout and since have been having some ocd-like anxiety... i need a way out or i probably won't sleep... i still have a stash of seroquel i haven't used but i was wondering if it would interfere with muscle gains/recovery?

i know this isn't the most appropriate place to post this, but if possible, i would greatly appreciate any answers or advice.

won't do much for anxiety but it will surely put you to sleep. If i recall when i took seroquel at about half the dose you are taking i felt as thought i was hit with an elephant tranquilizer. I remember kind of waking up in a stupor breathing so slow and telling my girlfriend that my heart was going to stop. God it freaked me out. If it works for you all nice, otherwise i would stay away from the stuff.

Because this is primarily asking about seroquel's effects on your ability to get gains from working out while on steroids, I believe Steroid Discussion would be the best for this.

My thoughts are that if you are just using testosterone, you should be fine though.

If you are running other things, you should check drug interaction checkers online such as drugs.com or drugbank.ca (look up 1 drug, it will list the ones it can interfere with below).

No doubt that it will interfere with protein synthesis. All psychoactives do. The question is, just how much. It depends on how often you do it and the dose. Some drugs are more catabolic than others. Stimulants usually do so to a higher degree than sedatives. I'm not sure about hallucinogens, though.

Lopez, just take it when you feel that you absolutely need to> As long asyour gear, diet, cardio and sleep is in check you will grow fine

This is my opinion of seroquel
SEROQUEL is a terrible drug IMO, when they put me on that shit, all I did was eat> after 4months in treatment, and living healthy they put me on 400mgs of seroquel so I could walk like a zombie across the street to 7-11 and buy 20 bucks worth of shit and gain back all my weight

I came off that crap and used temazepam to sleep from then on out, and got back in the shape I wanted to be in

Also them marketing this drug to aid with depression, how is that gonna happen, all you want to do is sleep

All psychoactives? Even tha herb? That discussion has been had a jabillion times. Tha herb gives you lower blood pressure. I'd think that'd be a plus on AS.

Whenever anyone needs medical advice on anything just recommend tha herb.

Excellent advice. Ask a pharmacist, possibly a compounding pharmacist (u can google that).

Before seroquel type drugs were called psychotropic medications they were called 'major tranquilizers. It is often prescribed for sleep but is also prescribed for anxiety. I had a client who took it for sleep and also at 25mg/day up to 4x/day for anxiety. Sometimes a psych doesn't want to prescribe benzo's for one reason or another and uses this. Sometimes benzo's are not strong enough for certain ppl's anxiety. Sometimes the dr. has reasons not to prescribe benzo's such as past alcohol abuse/dependence or abuse/dependence on other substances.

Everyone is different and I am of the belief that physicians are pretty smart and usually know what they are doing. U can always get a 2nd opinion, but some people make the (certainly reasonable) mistake of generalizing their situation onto others. If someone is having intolerable side effects from a med they should inform their doctor so the doc can try to make the best adjustment while taking into account that particular patients specific condition.

Go to the professionals on Seroquel, mainly psychiatrists and pharmacists. The downside is that many of those are not that familiar with test. Pharmacists are often more knowledgeable that physicians when it comes to drug interactions. Call your local (and other) pharmacies pretending you fill ur scripts there so you get some time on the phone with them. Get a few opinions from diff pharmacists.

Probably won't do any damage, but you're certainly not at the same lifting potential than you would be straight.

I'll take my chances and stay the fuck away.

Why? It's not like I get somnolence from smoking weed, I am actually much more likely to lift weights when stoned. I am also a lot more likely to eat a solid meal this way.

I mean, shit, we could compare lifts if you want; just to see how beneficial it really is.

Smoking once in a while won't make or break your physique. Nothing wrong with unwinding once or twice a month, but it definitely won't help either. The slightest risk of decreasing protein synthesis and slowing down the metabolism isn't worth it to me, and everyone who takes bodybuilding halfway seriously.

If the OP was prescribed Seroquel then he obviously needs it for something. Either live with whatever is bothering you and ensure no interruptions with muscle building or take it as directed and face no serious issues with your gym time. It all depends on how serious the person in question is. Recommending recreational drugs for someone to take is absurd. You're talking about a sport which some participants will refuse to even have a beer with dinner. Get real. For me, if it doesn't build muscle and make me strong, I have absolutely no interest in it being a part of my life. If a doc ever told me that I needed a tranquilizer for mood problems, I would tell him and his seroquel to fuck off.

Seroquel is a terrible substance...it's an antipsychotic primarily used for paranoid skitzos...it's way over rx'ed to people for things ranging from anxiety to insomnia...the reason that its prescribed is because the patent doesnt end until 2015 or 2016 and all u can get is name brand seroquel

get off that shit....i just read a study linking seroquel to causing diabetes...worst drug ever

I take atypical anti psychotics every day and have had no problems gaining strength.
It probably interferes to some degree, but I would still take it.

I mean, yeah, this is what I'm talking about. There's no substance that will truly hinder you if it's used at a controllable level. Certain drugs do way more harm than others. The catabolic properties of quetiapine aren't understood by me, so this is all speculation. All drugs will interfere to a certain degree. It only depends on how major that degree is. Obviously getting stoned after the gym every Friday won't be as bad as blacking out after too many shots of gin and making a weekly habit of it. I'm sure even this could be debated to some extent, however. Taking into consideration lung capacity, eating shitty food, decreased oxygen in blood, etc. Alcohol is more of a direct catabolic, but I'd rather avoid both than look for the lesser of the 2 evils.
It may even help since it can help with sleep.
Gotta remember though, there's a big difference between falling asleep and being knocked out by a tranquilizer.

I honestly think it's based on an individual basis. I smoked before working out several times during and after a cycle. I PRd a deadlift while stoned. Could I have PRd that 2% more without? Maybe. I like the mind-muscle connection I get from tha herb. At least that's how I rationalize it.

Alcohol and basically everything else is a big no-no, though. I sometimes give into a beer from time to time. Sometimes a little more but rarely because I'll feel so guilty over it.

I agree whole-heartedly.

seroquel

This is a funny thread. My doc pt me on seoquel as an add on for depression and sleep. I didnt like it because of the the overall lethargy. I always felt medicated. But come to think of it -In that period ,I was probably the strogest I have ever been. Naturally any way. Its probably the carbo binges I was on while taking it . Its a nasty medication , bad for your thyroid, liver, kidney, pancreas and brain. way over prescribed.. Perhaps it releases insulin growth factor??? I dunno

I've been on 400mg of Sero a day for the past 5 years or so. It does make you add weight, it helps me sleep when running high doses of AAS (tren), and it does stimulate an appetite. All things that I found to be positive.

I've tried several other compounds to help with my anxiety disorder, and Sero works best for me. If I stop using it, I'll probably end up back in the ER with severe panic attacks every other day. I've tried to come off it a few times, and I had to up my benzo doses each time. I hate the shit and I know how bad it is for you in the long run.....but if I had to choose between Sero and going to the ER every week, Sero it is. Has it effected me in any negative way yet? No, and I get my blood checked every month.

Oh, and if you need it and your insurance won't pay for it....Astra Zenica has a special program called the "A Z and ME program". If you qualify, they will give you a year's worth for free. The shit is mad expensive and it can cost several hundreds of dollars a month.
