Lately I have been using Marijuana and Codiene from lunch time (when I wake up), till I go to sleep... I'm getting worried. I have never used so much, now it's like I need it to function and be normal... I have no motivation for shit, and I don't know whats the fuck is happening to me.

HELP!

I believe that may be signs of a syndrome commonly referred to as 'dependence'.
It is not pleasant. Its common amongst drug users. If you have a reasonable g.p. they may be able to suggest a reasonable course of action, and it will probably involve counselling of some description. If you don't want to go down that path, there may be some community organisations with whom you don't need to fill out forms.

As the story goes, the first sign of recovery is to recognise there is a problem...

I am sure I am not telling you anything you are not aware of. I have no experience as to what codiene dependence is like, but I have been in the same boat with G, needed it to start my day.

Its hard to recognise the time when a drug stops becoming fun and starts to be a habit, but you have picked it up and now need to do something about it.

Just an idea, maybe some exercise or something after you get up, try and break the routine?

I wish you all the best with it, because its you that need to do it, no one can do it for you :)

sooo...STOP!

You don't need to go see a GP and tell him your "dependant on weed" for gods sake.

JUST CHILL OUT BRO.. you DONT need it and your probably NOT addicted yet. When i was younger i thought I was addicted to weed as it was all i thought about and ALL i wanted to learn about and research. I soon found that it was all in my head and i now enjoy smoking daily and have for many years, and its NOT a problem man. Its all about moderation. It also sounds like you need a JOB..wtf are you doing?

If your at work, then your not using drugs. Although i enjoy getting high before my daily tasks, don't get me wrong. I know people (although try not to chill with em ;-)) that would shudder at the thought of a morning bong... i used to be the same, but over time you grow to learn that marijuana is acceptable at ALL times of the day haha...

WILLPOWER.

If you stop yourself going to the chemist to re-up, then mission accomplished.

Could be masking an underlying problem. Maybe you have to ask yourself why you're using codeine & weed and address this? Depression, anxiety, boredom? In my opinion it sounds like you've already identified the need for a change. Is there something else you can devote your time to that will keep you sober? Hitting the gym, learning a martial art, language or instrument, playing a sport? Exercise is amazing for lifting your mood but something that keeps you mentally stimulated could be just as effective?

The good news is you won't suffer terrible withdrawals from either substance compared to say a benzo, alcohol or stronger opiate addiction; if you have the determination you should be able to get off both without additional meds.

When you NEED it to feel normal, your a junkie. I'm not going to sugar coat it, it's called being addicted. I agree with everyone's suggestions, you have to WANT to quit and that takes willpower. Your looking at 5 days of being miserable going cold turkey then every day after that will get just a little bit better. Most of us addicts have addictive personalities, it's very easy to jump from one drug to another.

Welcome to the world of addiction. Im in a similar situation as u. Codeine doest have much dependency and is classified as a mild opiate. I have been using codeine for years few times a week and its possible to stop using it without having too bad withdrawal symptoms. I am combating my hydromorphone and benzo addiction with weed, damiana and passionflower tea with codeine. Ive been clean from them two for a month now. Hydromorphone WDs suck bad, worse than any other opiate that exists seriously.

My advice is that u try cold turkey. Just stop the codeine. U mite feel very very mild withdrawals for a week but then everything will return to normal. Then u can focus on the weed. Good luck with it man, i wish u all the best n hope u can combat ur addiction cos it really does suck.

You made the right choice about asking for help, most people who are trying to quit seem to cope better if they have some support. I do surveys with heavy smokers and 'reformed smokers' and from what i can tell people find cutting down the use bit by bit seems to help. Cold turkey can be difficult but does pay off after a few days. I found when i started waking and baking it was hard to stop but after a week of cutting it down and starting a little later each time i found that the cravings were drastically reduced.

good luck

for me this has become study, takes up so much of my time, it's not there for the drugs. lol.

really it was a simple solution to a problem that took me years to find.

You don't know what's happening to you? I think you do - you're using too much. You don't need the internet to tell you that. Trying to avoid responsibility by acting as if this is something 'happening to you' rather than something you're actively doing yourself isn't doing you any favours.

Weed ain't so bad but that codeine is the shitter ......a real stepping stone
Drug as such .....and it only gets harder from here if u don t turn
Back asap .... And unfortunately as u will find out once u have
Partied too hard for too long u can never party again

All partied out
Best of luck

yeah, your using too much. I suggest you cut down (particularly with the codeine) and then stop. giving up the weed probably won't be too hard, just expect some irritation and sleepless nights. Codeine might give you some mild opiate withdrawals. As said travel calm is good for the nausea (was surpisingly effective for when I was going through benzo withdrawal).

BTW, still waiting on that PM about ayahuasca ceremonies in south america :)

haha yeah probabily speed-read it and didnt take away the full meaning, happens a bit on here :P

^ well a daily habbit is a daily habbit and it's very very easy to move from codeine to stronger opiates. Best to make a lifestyle change now AyahuascaSeeker13 :)
