Cannabis Inhalation Associated With Spontaneous Tumor Regression, Study Says
March 22nd, 2011
By: Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy Director

Cannabis inhalation is associated with spontaneous brain tumor regression in two subjects, according to a pair of case reports to be published in Child’s Nervous System, the official journal of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.

Investigators at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver documented the mitigation of residual tumors in two adolescent subjects who regularly inhaled cannabis. Authors determined that both subjects experienced a “clear regression” of their residual brain tumors over a three-year-period.

“Neither patient received any conventional adjuvant treatment” during this time period, investigators wrote. “The tumors regressed over the same period of time that cannabis was consumed via inhalation, raising the possibility that cannabis played a role in tumor regression.”

Researchers concluded, “Further research may be appropriate to elucidate the increasingly recognized effect of cannabis/cannabinoids on gliomas (brain cancers).”

A 2006 pilot study published in the British Journal of Cancer previously reported that the intratumoral administration of the cannabinoid THC was associated with reduced tumor cell proliferation in two of nine human subjects with brain cancer.

Separate preclinical studies assessing the anticancer activity of cannabinoids and endocannabinoids indicate that the substances can inhibit the proliferation of various types of cancerous cells, including breast carcinoma, prostate carcinoma, and lung cancer.

Commenting on the two new case reports, researcher Jahan Marcu — who has previously documented the inhibitory effects of cannabinoids on human glioblastoma cell proliferation and survival — wrote in the blog Freedom Is Green: “Can marijuana contribute to the regression or remission of certain cancers? Given the slow progress of clinical trials for whole plant Cannabis, it can be frustrating waiting for years, even decades, trying to answer these vital questions. But for the two young women with brain cancer in (this) report, a shift to a cannabis lifestyle may have made a difference.”

How can this be used to inhibit tumour growth? It's an illegal substance! Illegal substances in class 1 have no accepted medical use! Shame on cancer patients trying to ease their pain and perhaps even inhibit their tumour growth......shame!

I would be very happy to hear that cannabis cures tumors, but the evidence given in the article is spotty.
Two children? That is a small number. That is really just a case study.
And in the other study cited in the article, only 2 of 9 people with THC injected directly into the tumor were helped. That is a small percentage. And they got all the THC goodness directly in the tumor, whereas the children were smoking weed and presumably very little THC reached their tumors.
I do hope that this is true, but from the info in this article, I certainly wouldn't stake my life on it.

there are tons of [reported, but probably not officially studied/sanctified, because its taboo and illegal........] cases of cannabis and the resin inhibitting tumours. there's a guy who lives in my area who produces mass amounts of cannabis oil and gives it for free to cancer patients, they rub it like a topical cream on the tumour and drink a little of it. it doesnt get them high and a lot of them seem to be having success. ill find a link of his videos if i can and post it here sometime.

Maybe the THC has to have psychoactive effects for the benefit to occur... Psychoactive drugs do re-wire the brain a bit.

Not again... It's nothing new, my friends. This has been known since 1974.

The DEA quickly shut down the Virginia study and all further cannabis/tumor research, according to Jack Herer, who reports on the events in his book, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes." In 1976 President Gerald Ford put an end to all public cannabis research and granted exclusive research rights to major pharmaceutical companies, who set out -- unsuccessfully -- to develop synthetic forms of THC that would deliver all the medical benefits without the "high."

Do a Google search on 'apoptosis', which means cell suicide... While cancerous (including leukemia, breast cancer, and brain tumors) cells are killed, all healthy cells are left unharmed and untouched.

I read recently that St. Bartholomew's hospital in London is giving THC to children with leukemia and it IS working 100%. I wish I could find the fucking article.

Millions of people have died horrible deaths (cancer, leukemia) and in many cases, families exhausted their savings on dangerous, toxic and expensive drugs. Now we are just beginning to realize that while marijuana has never killed anyone, marijuana prohibition has killed millions.

We should sue for this shit.

Sounds like you're talking about rick simpson, that's the link I posted above, phoenixtears.ca

His documentary is called Running from the Cure, you can watch it on the site

There are plenty of legit published papers showing that thc directly on a number of different types of cancers kills them. This guy found a way to saturate our systems with it orally. He's a saint.

I swear marijuana is gods gift to earth.

Its a heal all and harmless if used correctly through a vaporizer.

There are so many other uses for the plant as well and im sure if it was studied more and was never illegal, we would have many more useful and less harmful medicines that were just extracted from this one plant.

Have you read this article?

Maybe the THC has to have psychoactive effects for the benefit to occur... Psychoactive drugs do re-wire the brain a bit.

Nope, it does not.

THC in itself, does not even get you high.

However, read the link I supplied. THC can be directly injected into the tumor site.

Exactly.

I think the effect 'hash oil' has on skin cancer will be the best way to promote that it really works. Smear a bit on the cancer, slap on a band-aid, and that shit starts to shrink noticeably within days! It's so right there an in your face, people won't be able to ignore it. Take pics of the treatment process everyone!

I have a grand father who gets skin cancer cut and burned out of his face once a year AT LEAST. He's an ex 'narcotics officer' (by his own wording haha) and is super against drugs of any kind, so I would seriously have to lie to him and put the oil in a legit looking tube, but I REALLY want to try to help him out. He just got it cut out a month ago, but it will grow back soon, it always does =( When it does I'm gonna try to trick him into trying it.. it's for his own good. THIS SHIT WORKS!

This is like the biggest medical breakthrough of all fucking time, and society is dragging it's heels on the issue, it's so fucked up. It's up to US to spread the knowledge and help those in need. One pound of high grade weed extracted and taken orally has like a 90% cure rate for every damn cancer you can think of, it's ASTOUNDING! And it's not hippie pro-weed bullshit, it's fucking TRUE! If you know someone sick and have the financial means and access to good product, extracting the oil isn't hard at all. Document what you are doing, this is the future of a large part of human health care- WE are some of the few in a position to push this 'research' forward in the field, it is our responsibility to run with this, for the greater good of the future of humanity, we can NOT ignore this!

Yeah, good link... Sorry for the confusion, I was replying to the story of the kids who only smoked weed having brain cancer regression...
