^ if you can find a good spot for next year it would pay to roughly cultivate the soil before next season if you can and add an organic matter mulch if you can. If you can do this, the earlier the better. You know what you're doing so you'll do well anyhow!

With the world economy in tatters (especially with the impact of Japan crisis), I think growing weed is a wise thing to do, especially since wholesale prices in the UK at least have doubled in the last year iirc. When I look at what's happening around the world it deeply concerns me and because weed is so valuable it's effectively a currency in it's own right in some circles (and doesn't devalue through inflation lol), growing makes sense! Of course I'll only be growing for myself, but having the weed definitely puts me in a better position.

Just checked and so far 10 of 23 seeds in Root Riots have germinated. There's such a faster strike rate than in peat pellets it's unreal. I'd love to find out how they actually make them - I believe it's a combination of peat, coir and composted bark, held together by a polymer matrix, however this is all I know so far.

If I could find a way to make something that's more or less the same it would be brilliant as I could save quite a bit of money over the long term. Until then I'll just have to buy them in bulk.

Good strike rate so far AE, hope they all shoot up for ya. :)

A little update on my girl. We've had sun the past 2 days, yesterday she was looking abit average when I went to water her, she had a very limp droop to most of her leaves. Today though she is looking alot happier :)

aw nice man glad she pull through lets just pray sho dont throw some balls off now :D

I just looked and every single seed has popped!

Today I received my Fast Bud, Purple Maroc and my free Diesel seed in the post. Can't wait to grow them.

Wise, do you have any seaweed extract? If not you should be able to find it in garden centres and it should help ameliorate the stress caused by ripping her out of the ground. That's what I would do if I were in your shoes, however she looks like she's doing okay considering!

Do you guys think I've gone a bit overboard with the seeds?

Thats for the support guys, I appreciate it.

Hey everyone, My plant is looking a little bit better, I don't really plan on flowering that huge plant in my closet anyways as it's already 2 1/2 feet tall, and if I were to flower that in my closet...well...LOL.

I mainly grew her big to just take alot of cuttings from her, then I will throw her outside and let her get huge during spring/summer.

Im hoping to get about 10 cuttings, along with the female seedling I have growing in there, and just grow a whole bunch of Northern lights.

And Gurner, those plants dont look bad at all, looks like they will grow up to be healthy. Ill post a pic of an unhealthy plant I have when I get back, haha, i completely snapped the plant in half on accident (the pot tipped over and fell.)
and the plant litterally was just, ripped in two, I got some ducktape, taped it back together, and sure enough, the plant made it, I dont know if I really plan on keeping the plant or not, but, seems like weed will grow unless your purposly trying to kill it(which is still hard to do in some cases, lol)

Anywho , Ill post more later, gotta go get ready for work,

Oh yeah, AE, you might want to put those pics in NFSW before yerg jumps all over you and starts beating you over the head with the rule book.

(And you can never over do it with seeds ;) , just like you can never have too much weed, lol)

Notice how the page loads faster with NSFW tags? It's not a rule, it was a polite request that will make this thread easier for everyone to access. Sorry for being such a dickhead, I don't know what I was thinking.

Oh yeah, Prelude, in the PM I just sent, I forgot to say I'd really recommend trying the strain I'm growing, Paradise Ice Cream. I've not grown it before but I have smoked it and it gives the lovely sleepy, narcotic/relaxing stone you'd expect from an indica. It also looks beautiful and finishes flowering in 7-8 weeks. It's also quite cheap for what it is.

I would buy 5 fem seeds, veg them for 1 week, take cuttings from each plant and flower them straight away. Once it's finished flowering and you've chosen the plant that produces the nicest weed, kill all the cuttings except the one you've chosen and keep that as a mum.

Oh yeah, Prelude, I think it was in one of your photos that I saw a transparent cup being used to grow seedlings or cuttings. I just wanted to say that you might find you're better off using containers that don't let any light through, since roots hate being exposed to lights. I find that those styrofoam cups with several small holes poked through the bottom work really well, and are cheap.

Agreed with prelude, can never have to many good genetics ;)

The Monsta Bud I am using actually contains seaweed extract, it makes up for half the nitrogen value in it at 1.55 N. Maybe thats why she's pulling through nicely? I have been feeding her fairly reguarly. I would also say she's pulling through due to her health before being ripped.

Seems like the buds are still growing and there still looking very nice and getting better :)

Alright, thanks for the help Wise and AE,
and I changed those containers today, as I saw that on the sides there was green moss looking stuff growing (dunno if it was just the peat moss or something, idK), but yeah, all the roots went to the bottom, not many on the sides, no too much damage there, except the leaves looked like they suffered a little burning , though I haven't fed them, hopefully the new container helps.
Im wondering if I should take a whole bunch of cuttings from my Northern Lights clone from the last seedling, or just get new seeds...
Who knows.

Anyways, thanks again..

Not saying you're a dick head Yerg, we got off to a bad start and Im a bit frustrated with what happened & with the stress Ive had lately I probably went about things wrong It just bothers me.

That green stuff is algae, which needs light to survive, so it's a good thing you changed the container!

If you like that strain why not take one or two cuttings and keep it as a mother to add to your collection so you can grow her whenever you want in the future? I'd thoroughly recommend that every grower keep mothers to have a free supply of clones at their disposal if they have the resources to do this.

I'm more worried about plant numbers than anything. I'm getting them out of the house in the next 48h since the weather is perfect now.

Seaweed extract is probably the best additive to reduce stress, so it is helping no doubt.

My 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 loam and 1/3 silver sand with some dolomite lime and organic base fertilizer (just a little since it's meant for seeds) seems to be working really well. Ironically such a simple mix is outperforming the several commercial mixes I've been trying. Just goes to show you don't need to make things complicated to get good results.

If you're mixing your own medium I think dolomite lime is a much better choice for adjusting pH than garden lime, since it adds both Mg and Ca and acts as a buffer that won't raise the pH above 7.

I'm going to transplant into the 5-1-1 mix next so I'll see how that goes.

I'm saving up to buy a proper greenhouse, with glass glazing instead of polycarbonate or uPVC. I think I'll go for a wooden design. I'm also going to save up to buy a shed for winter growing to free up a bit of space so that I can actually have a proper bedroom that's got a decent amount of space.

I've found an excellent guerrilla growing space at last. It's a privately owned south facing field that's perfect. There's a park bench there and a gate leading to it but I never see anyone there. If I grow near the perimeter I doubt anyone would see the cannabis plant there even if they looked, since it will just look like random green vegetation. I'll grow in the native soil since it's so rich and fertile (it's clay loam - the best sort of A grade soil). I hope to get about 5 ounces of each plant minimum. I should theoretically be harvesting kilos but I anticipate some of my plants will be found. This is why I'm going to use multiple locations to spread the risk as much as I can.

I'm a bit worried about growing the Paradise Ice Cream outdoors since it's not strictly an outdoor strain. However I think it will work well in a greenhouse since I can control humidity. The autos will finish when sunlight UV levels are at peak levels, so I should get an awesome level of psychoactive cannabinoids (THC levels are often directly in proportion to the amount of UV light the buds are exposed to, so if you can harvest in the middle of the summer months you should get more potent plants in theory).

I was thinking of trying something different and vegging the Ice Cream plants in the greenhouse but flowering indoors under a 1kW HPS lamp. The idea would be that I wouldn't have to use blackout curtains in the greenhouse (which would require putting them up and taking them down at the same times every day without fail and making sure they're totally light proof. Either that or I just flower them in October under the natural sun. However by this time they would probably be trees (literally), unless I took cuttings to keep the size in check. I don't know what I'll do.

So today I was inspecting my plants , it's been 2 or 3 weeks into flowering and I noticed the top growing new leafs BUT one of the 2 new leafs are completely fuckin white! Like not just off colourd but grew in the whitest white I've ever seen on any plant! What could I be and how to fix ?

Is the whole of the leaf white or only part of it?

I wouldn't worry about it until lots of the foliage starts to show chlorosis. At this point you know you probably need to give it a good feed.

hey everyone, just a quick question.

i am going for my third grow. this time i am planting a seed i found in a bad of bud simply called "b" (beats me, its what my boy called it.)

but my question, what is the best type of medium to start with? i have some great potting mix that has worked well the last 2 times, but i would like to really jump start the plant so im thinking about maybe trying a different soil mixture to start with. any opinions?

^ I would advise against bag seed. The bud grown probably won't be anything like the bud you found it in.

Do you want to make your own medium or do you want to buy it off the shelf?

I would keep it simple and go for something like pure quality coir.
