Official Website of Melbourne Jazz Festival 2011 is here

$29 at the Forum, thats worth the price purely just to hang out at the forum for the night, the band could almost be seen as a bonus

p.s i am in no way affiliated with this band or trying to promote them for any other gain than i find it so beautiful it would be a sin to not spread the word

Sounds cool. Regardless of whether you've joined to spruik this event or not, I think it may add value to BL users keen on this type of thing.

I've edited the OP to provide a little more details and I will add the relevent event tags to the thread title.

Sonny Rollins and Ron Carter are 2 acts I would love to catch but costys are prohibitive. Faust are a surprising inclusion but could be interesting. I thought I heard Herbie Hancock was coming out for the festival, but I couldn't see him listed on the website.

Herbie is playing the palais april 30 for $120 - too steep for me - I will just pop headhunters on the stereo :)

Faust will be awesome at jazz fest - definitely going! Also sun ra arkestra on my list - the man is dead but the band lives on. one of my favourite quotes is from sun ra: "his story is history but my story is mystery"

Hypnotic brass look interesting - I can't believe noone is dancing on that clip linked above!!

Herbie is playing on 30th of April at the Palaias

So far 2011 is looking fun, i have tickets for

The Herd - 1st of April

BB King - 16th of April

Reggie Watts - 22nd of April

Herbie Hancock - 30th of April

Sun Ra Arkestra - 5th of June

Hypnotic brass ensemble - 7th of June

Ron Carter 10th of June

Living in Melbourne certainly has it's positives
