Joint Rolling - European vs. American Methods

i had never rolled the L joints before i read this thread, actualy where im from Ls are just blunts rolled from cigars. most of my joints were prego kinda looking like a cigg but i would pile more of the bud in the middle bc i wouldnt use a cardboard tip or "roach" but now i am roling cones exclusivly with roaches and a small amount of tobacco , i find them really to be better

This thread inspired me. I bought some rolling papers yesterday and tried flat with no roach/filter and then rolled another slightly coned with a cardboard filter. The cone with filter had slightly better hits but didn't taste as good. And the slightly better hits could be attributed to it being the second joint i rolled, since i haven't rolled in a while i probably did a slightly better job with the second one.

When i get off work today im going to roll a cone no filter and then decide which is better, cone or flat.

Even if the joint isn't a sharply-angled cone, it can still have a slightly tapered end so that the hitting end comes to a mouthpiece. My joints don't look like cones really, they look like skinny cigarettes that taper a bit at the end. The cone is really only for the last half or third of the joint or so in my joints (IMJ ;))...

I don't understand how people can find it so hard to roll neat looking joints. When I see some American joints it looks like they've just thrown the weed in the paper and just scrunched it up. It's really easy to get a nice tight, crinkle/air bubble-free cone with a bit of practise. It's not just for aesthetics, tighter joints are less harsh, burn more evenly and if you backroll them, use less paper.

Another thing Americans always seem to do is roll really fat joints, which is wasteful because every second you aren't hitting it, more weed is being wasted.

Nice slender, tight, long cones are the only way to go.

I'm not sure about the HR value of this thread if it's encouraging people to start smoking with tobacco. Smoking tobacco is bad for you, it's addictive, you shouldn't do it. Do as I say, not as I do.

idk which americans all you nonamericans are kicking it with, but i've never hung around anyone that rolls a loose joint. they're always nice tight little cylinders, about the same size as a cigarette, if not smaller

Yeah, I see nothing but beautiful joints and blunts from MY American friends.

I find joints pretty much impossible to roll. Something about it just doesn't click with me, and I've tried many, many times. So I just use a rolling machine which makes nice, very tight cylinders. Fat joints are my preference because the ratio of herb to paper is more in favor of bud and because they get you higher.

I can roll a mean blunt though.

Almost all my American friends can roll nice joints.

I dunno, in the circle of friends I grew up with must have been European-influenced at some level because cone joints with cardboard "filters" (what they're usually called instead of roaches here) were the norm. I haven't seen this practice anywhere else though, so I'm sure the practice was spread from overseas. This type of joint is the most efficient IME.

common practice in germany

I might as well post this in here rather than starting a new thread - I think there's a problem with my rolling technique and I was wondering if any of you guys knew where I was going wrong. I have to put significantly more weed/tobacco at the front of the spliff (the end that's lit) when I'm doing the mix else that end comes out too thin to smoke and the middle is bulky. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong - any suggestions?

When i'm rolling I try to push the fat chunky pile in the middle up whilst i'm rolling it into shape, spread it all out evenly.

I Dunno man, I thought I had you covered but it's really fucking hard to describe how to roll a joint >_< sorry bro.

Don't just put a big pile in the middle, spread it out in the paper before you start rolling from the roach to about a cm away from the smoking end of the paper (don't fill it up to the end or stuff will just spill out the end when you roll there). Don't be afraid to make the filler a bit too fat at the roach end, it will correct itself when you roll. If you're finding it too loose at the smoking end, just pack it down gently with a pointy object until it's nice and tight the whole way through.

You're really best off watching some videos and practising with some tobacco (unless you don't mind wasting weed on learner joints).

I can roll a much nicer joint than that in far less time without having to fuck around with all that stuff.

Practice makes perfect

I have practiced, I went through at least 6 or 7 packs of papers before giving up. I practiced on tobacco and on weed, by buying pouches of tobacco for a few months and just trying to roll the best joint possible. I got to being able to roll a decent cigarette, but I could never roll a good joint, except for a few miracles. Maybe I just don't have the coordination, but I find that a rolling machine rolls better joints then any human I've seen, including ones that are great at rolling. So I just use that.

Joints are alright, but honestly I'd rather smoke a blunt. The roach of a blunt is easier to work with and usually has more buds :) . I dont really roll joints but when I was in jamaica, I got hooked up with a niiiiice sack as well as a pack of Rizzla's rolling papers.... And these damn things were bigger than any joint paper ive ever seen, much like a blunt!

But who ever said smoking roaches is bad, is a retard. WASTE NOT WANT NOT DAWGGGG

I don't find it feasible if you go through 6-7 packs of papers you won't be good, or atleast decent at rolling. 200 joints/cigs and you can't roll a good joint?
