Pressing Pills?

First, I just want to point out that I'm not asking this because it's something I plan on doing it, I'm not even asking how it would be done, I just want to know if it's possible.

I've heard people say that it's impossible to press pure MDMA into pills and others say that you can. I'm just wondering if this is possible and if it isn't, why not?
