Thank you Chompy.
Also thank you Citiokid for the hope. My phsyc teacher suprisingly had the same exact thing when i talked to him about it. he smoked a shit ton at the same age, lasted a few years he said n shit. u didnt take any medication or anything did you citio? Just wondering what worked for you. Therapy, distraction, business are what help and have been helping me. i just want to get off medication, i feel thats what i need to do
I didn't take any medications.
It just kind of went away when I went to boarding school and got distracted, but there were a few things I did that made it much better, and eventually go away entirely.
People with DP (including myself five years ago) all seem to have the same obsession with feeling "normal" and are convinced their DP is permanent and will never end. They have little hope while in the grips of DP and suffer every second of the day wishing desperately to feel okay again.
That way of thinking is what creates the DP, and what sustains it. Anxiety and DP go hand in hand.
So if you eliminate the anxiety, your quality of life will increase immedietely, as DP isn't what makes you feel bad, its the anxiety that it causes. Once the anxiety is gone, you notice it starts to fade away. And before you know it, you realize you just spent a whole week clear headed and DP free.
I know how bad it sucks, but let me be 100% honest with you - it DOES go away. It will stick with you as long as you are terrified of it, so you need to stop being afraid of it.
Also, avoid spending hours cruising the internet reading stories about people with DP. All that will do is scare the shit out of you. The people who focus on the DP and post online will continue to have it.
Good luck to you! I'm sending you positive energy to help get you through this difficult time. but I promise, you'll be fine. Your life is not over, it's just beginning.
PM me if you wanna talk more.
Peace.
