Do u tie off when iv'ing

Well I do not tie off when I shoot and my friend always does...he says that when u tie off u
hold up the shot so u get it all at once as apposed to not tieing off u get the drug gradually ....anybody no if theres any truth to this
 
There's no truth to it. Tying off just helps your veins become engorged with blood for hitting them. Once you are in the vein you to need release the tie before pushing the shot or risk blowing your vein anyways.
 
^^ true amapola. the tie-off is just to make your veins swell up, so they are easier to hit. blood is still flowing, and there might be a small possibility that more will hit you at once, but if it would it would be slight. if your IV'ing, it will all hit you pretty fast so theres not really any point in having ALL hit you at once... it already pretty much does, it would only gradually hit you, if you push the plunger slowllyyyy. or did half a shot, wait a few seconds, then do the other.
 
I have never tied off. Though I might try in the future because it seems that since I have been gaining a little weight, the veins in my wrist keep rolling. Damn, it's gonna be like having to learn to IV all over again;)
 
i always have to tie off to hit a vein cuz they have rececced so much and some have collapsed, i jus learned a few months ago that i was supposed to let go before shooting lol 8) ... well i fucked up
 
there's probably some truth to that statement, but the difference is probably negligible.

Depending on how visible your veins are you may or may not need to tie off to easily access one of them. As your veins slowly collapse and get destroyed than you will need a tourniqet to get a vein
 
it depends on where I am shooting. Having plenty of sites to rotate and a proper technique plays a big part in IV use period. There are however places that I can hit w/o tying off. also,applying heat to the injection site will bring the veins so the surface. also dangling your arms in a circle motion will also force blood to the vessels in your forearm and hands. for me tying off just helps keep a vein in place.

for the record I do not condone IV drug use. It is an addiction in itself for a lot of people-like me. but if you are going to do it,learn how to do it properly -,as well as alternate locations to keep your veins healthy and to prevent track marks.
 
tying off issues..

I'm new to iv'ing and have found that my hands are MUCH easier to hit than forearms due to seemingly impenetrable rolling veins.. Tied off once and injected before releasing,left a mean bruise... Released before injecting vein receded and needle came out! Suggestions?
 
maverick, it will make it harder to see the veins, but try putting your palm down(instead of up) and lay your arm flat, the veins won't move as much.
