I don't have a very high opiate tolerance but I have been using 'done recreationally for about a month I usually do 15 mg but that wasn't doin much anymore so I did 30 yesterday and I felt great and eventually passed out. I woke up about ten times completly out of breath and drenched in sweat. When the high wore off and I was able to think clearly I realized I could have od'd or it could just be side effects maybe? It didn't feel Too overpowering but I've read up and know methadone is a tricky drug to mess with

Trouble breathing is one of the signs of opiate overdose, that's for sure. I think sweating is another one.

Sweating could also be a side effect of the methadone in general, but breathing problems certainly aren't.

Glad to hear you're okay now though

If you're questioning whether it was an OD or not, chances are it wasn't. Did you take a little too much and pass out because of it? Probably. Next time, take a bit less and see how that has you feeling. Being conscious usually makes your high more enjoyable lol.

There are different degrees of "Overdoses". Fatal OD's would mean, obviously, ya didn't' make it out alive.. Then you can have the luck of a non-fatal OD, involving getting revived via Narcan. In this case you'd like stop breathing for a bit, turn blue, need CPR, etc, and without help and someone to call 911 you'd likely die. Not 100%, but good chance. And there is simply taking a little too much and getting sick/passed out/etc.. What happened to you I believe was you just took a little too much, under estimated the vicious power of Methadone and the potency/half life of it, and just got a little too fucked up and passed out. While you're passed out, your body has to work extra hard to keep breathing and fundamental functions going which can account for sweating.

I just think you took too much. In my early opiate days I would take too much like that sometimes and wake up with a splitting headache, sweating, nausea, etc.

By definition, and "OD" is simply, "Taking too much". Now the degree in which you overshoot your intended dose/effect is what determines the end result. Death/Hospital/Or just dazed and confuzed 12 hrs later.

Nevertheless, the most important thing to do if you feel you are slipping too far, too fast, is CALL 911. Opiates aren't like fucking playing on the playground or some shit, it's life/death. Ideally when doing opiates having someone with you, or at least AWARE of the what you are doing and have them on standby/speed dial.

Otherwise, glad you made it out alive, taking too many opiates can be very scary/un-fun. I've seen it happen. Both with good results, and bad. Ideally we learn from the bad, as well as the good. Stay safe brotha.

I agree, I still consider this an "overdose" because you've gone past the line of feeling really good and feeling horrible/having bad side effects without any more euphoria.

I think different people have different definitions of "OD", which is fine with me. Depends on the context as well.

Again, I'm glad you ended up okay, OP. You experienced methadone's ability to sneak up on you first-hand...

i hope im not deraling this thread but id like to ask a question regarding overdose and nodding. i have never nodded off any opiates. sure if im high and i go to bed, then i "nod" i drift in and out of conciousness like go into a dream state and come back out. however it never happens to me spontaneously, like if i am not in bed trying to sleep. no matter how much i do, i remain present and aware and ive had friends confirm that i never nod off. i thought it was just a matter of dosagte but last time i did heroin, i tried to push the dosage to experience a nod and i took so much that i felt really uncomfortable. i felt like i had taken too much and there was no euphoria because of it, rather i just felt dizzy and very sedated and i could barely keep my eyes open but still i didn't nod. so what's the deal? can some people just not nod? i feel like i run the risk of ODing if i try. the heroin i have is supposedly pretty good too.

watch wat you r doing with the old green l now of 2 people of have died of o.d,s on the meth so be careful take care n play safe x

What qualifies of an overdose baffles me. According to my hospital records, I have overdosed 6 or so times, two of which have been on methadone mixed with benzo's. I believe those were the only REAL times I did OD, because I remember them giving me Narcane drips, and I also had to have a catheter inserted because it seemed that my kidneys got really screwed up. The other times I supposedly overdosed, but am skeptical about, have been when I took a lot of heroin, and got VERY serious asthma attacks, that landed me in the intensive care unit. Each of those times I was told that had I waited just a bit longer before calling an ambulance, that I could have died.

Then there was one time where I am almost certainly positive that I overdosed on cocaine, as I had been shooting it all night, and when I did my last shot, (which was a speedball with a ton more coke than dope) I felt my blood pumping in every part of my body, I started to sweat, I could hardly breath and my limbs went numb. I eventually passed out from the terror of it, and awoke in my bed
the next day alright.

Methadone is very easy to Overdose on, but I dont think that's what happened to you, unless you have a very low tolerance. I've taken dosages of 120 mg of meth without using any opioids or opiates in months, and survived (but did get INCREDIBLY high, and probably near an overdose.) that being said, everyone is different.

Opioid "overdose" isn't black and white. It isn't a "you did" or "you didn't" situation. Opioids cause respiratory depression, which can reduce the amount of oxygen in your blood. You can sustain damage and suffer side effects without dying if this level drops too low. If you're curious, get a pulse oximeter and wear it the next time you're nodding. I think you'll be surprised at how much your oxygen level can drop even while you're conscious.

Its idiotic to suggest that taking 120mg of methadone to anyone, especially someone with a low tolerance or who hasn't used "any opioids or opiates in months."

<Sorry this isn't on the thread topic but I am replying to this guy so ignore this post if you want to>

No man I am the exact same way, I never nod out unless I do a shit load and then try to go to sleep, then the same thing will happen to me. But otherwise a couple times I have purposely done a shit ton when I have a lot of money just to get really high and all that will happen is I get really really high, like face real itchy and feeling realllllly good for hours off a single shot, but at the same time really dizzy and hot and I might throw up, but if I sit still I feel good, but never nodding. It actually really pisses me off when my friends are sitting there nodding out, because it doesn't happen with me so I think they are just being over dramatic or something and it sucks while I am sitting there and have to ask them a question or need them to do something and they just sit there looking all gross. Seriously look at someone nodding out and its pretty gross to look out their face and shit.

For me doing more really just extends the length that I actually feel really good. Like If I do a 20 of some real good shit I will get the rush, and feel pretty good for like an hour or 2, then it slowly goes away. But if I do like a 50 of this really good shit, that ive seen people OD doing a lot less of it when they had no tolerance/just got out of rehab, Ill feel really good for like 4 hours and still high for another couple hours and then it slowly goes away. But I never get past that stage from feeling really good to nodding out/losing conciousness. I think part of it is I have always just had kind of a tolerance with opiates, It was the first drug I ever had, I was 14 or 15 and broke my leg really bad so I was on percocets for a few months cause I had to have a few surgeries a month apart from each other do to the bone not healing correctly, so Ive always kinda had a tolerance. I think it is because I always got energy, motivation, outgoing with my opiate high rather than the sedation that a lot of people get.

Methadone is some nasty stuff. took 60 mg one night and was fucked up so bad i was on the nod hard and the next day i took 70mg and i dont know what happened for the next 10 hours in till i came too unable too hear or see i could hear really muffled screams of someone. my senses coming back from oxygen getting to my brain again it was my mom totally terrified at the situation all i was doing was staring off into space and falling over yelling "What! What! because i couldn't hear or see anything and trying figure out what the fuck was going on. She rushed me to the hospital and they gave me narcan and put a oxygen mask on. The narcan induced terrible withdrawals instantly,it was pure hell. after about ten hours i was discharged from the hospital because my blood oxygen levels took some time to get back to normal. When my mom came into my room and found me there purple and blue and pale as a ghost not breathing she thought i was dead and after her shaking me I came to luckily. today my vision and hearing has never fully returned. please choose another opiate to get high on methadone is very dangerous because its half life is so long and it keeps building up in your system basically I took 130mg not 70 be careful guys

Ya I know not to do it on consecutive days thanks to bluelight but ive never had a reaction like that on other opiates so I'm just gonna stick to my percs and oxy

I'm going to go ahead and close this up as it seems to have ran its course. 'Did I OD' threads are really purely speculative as there isn't any way for us to know with any degree of certainty what happened.
