Running is a good way to lose weight and keep it off. If you're really, really out of shape it can suck when you first start, but after the first week or so, it gets much easier. When I was in college I ran about 5 miles a day, but I stopped when we had kids and put on way too much weight, and even still, when I started again this winter I managed about 10 minutes my first time and a week later I was doing about 20 minutes without a problem. I switched to running outside this week- much colder and a bit painful on the lungs at first, but I'm doing about 35 minutes now, but that's ending without being exhausted or panting or anything. I could probably do another 15 minutes at this speed, but I want to pick up the pace before I worry about hitting the hour mark again.
