Benzos to go with Xanax

I am interested in a longer term benzo to supplement my xanax, which I take for anxiety. I am leaning towards valium for the muscle relaxing quality, but I am here to ask your opinion. Which benzo would you take if you wanted longer lasting effects from 2mg xanax 3 times a day, klonipin or valium? Ativan? What dosage?

I'm leaning towards 2 10mg valium daily but I was thinking maybe 3 .5 mg kpins would be better. Thank you for your advice.

1mg ativan is equal to approx 10mg valium, although the valium is obviously much longer lasting.

I don't know the conversion for alprazolam off the top of my head, but 10mg valium is approx equal to 0.5mg klonopin.

I can't tell you what to tell your doctor, however.

This thread is iffy, it is borderline. Since we aren't here to tell you what to tell your doctor in order to get prescriptions, but I see your intents are legitimate (as far as I know).

So you are saying you want to have something ON TOP of the 3 bars daily? That is just kinda strange.. To me it would make more sense to have a decent dose of a long lasting benzo to take twice daily, and then have the 2mg bars around in case of acute panic attacks.

So I would go with valium/klonopin for the long lasting GAD, then have 2mg xanax on hand for an AS NEEDED BASIS. Dosages I am not sure. 2mg xanax is equivalent to 40mg valium according to all converters I use, but that may not be totally accurate.

I would say that 30mg valium BID ; with 2mg xanax PRN would be a reasonable dosage schedule. Your mileage may vary, and you may be different than I.

Your best, and most legitimate bet is to simply talk to your doctor about it. As long as he realizes you aren't some scum 17 years punk rat-ass sewer monkey, then he shouldn't have a problem working with you in order to get the best dosage/medication regimen going for you.

Good luck.

Ativan. Its long lasting (almost 2 days), less recreational and I found it to be the perfect anxiety reliever.
I can't recommend a dosage, though, since I'm not a doctor.

Here's a wikipedia chart on duration, usage and equivalent strength for most benzos.

Good info but not sure I agree k-pins and alpro are equal in potency... I realize the reaction time effects and duration are different which is why I suppose they even out??

Anyway that link led me to this one... which was informative for me since I refuse to buy from street and always worry of getting cut down or off since at at the mercy of my VA subs dr.

Diazepam and clonazepam would both be good choices, especially clonazepam since it's equipotent to alprazolam so the dosing wouldn't be hard to figure out.

If you are in the U.S., you may want to try something like prazepam (Centrax). It's a long acting benzo that's very similar to nordazepam and diazepam, but with a more subtle side effect profile than diazepam.

^ I agree, I like prazepam too and it's very underrated where I live. The only thing is to take a decent dose, around 40mg.

i have alot of 1mg ativans, but if your taking it to get high, it only gives you a short buzz but does help with anxiety, just dont drink alcohol with it, i learned my lesson the hard way
