The DEA is finally enforcing the JWH ban

Maybe...my question is, if it's not already in it's herbal form, but powder form, how the hell do they know exactly what to charge you with at this point?! Unless they have a field test that can discern all of the RCs...otherwise, if you have 250, not 018, how the hell are they going to know?

this is a great point, and makes me wonder if anyone has been arrested yet for having a spice-like product in an unlabeled bag?

That's why they're making THC schedule III prescription-only while simultaneously banning synthetics 8)

What really bothers me is how unconstitutional all this is.. What's next?
 
DEA is colluding with Big Pharm to change THC and derivatives to schedule 3. That way a generic could be marketed for theraputic use and they'll make billions more than they already do. Go to the Federal Register (gpo.gov) and do a search on "jwh" to find the link to a pdf of the Federal Register for March 1, 2011. The ban went into effect when this final order was published. You'll find some of the details regarding the emergency scheduling. From my understanding any prosecution for jwh would need to take place in federal court. State and local LE are not "required" to bust you for it. (unless it's already illegal under state/local laws)

yeah, they used to do it for cocaine, heroin, etc. back in the day befor there were field kits to test. why wouldn't they do it the DEA doesn't care how much there spending as long as there busting people. the dea gets off on shit like that. think about it if you got caught with an RC the cops or whoever isn't going to just let you go there probly going to get it tested

I guess I made the mistaken of logically assuming that at this point, with the current economic situation, they wouldn't bother spending that extra money. I definitely don't think like the DEA does I suppose.That still doesn't answer my question --- the fact that they banned certain JWHs, is there a test to discern between them (or, how exactly does a lab test working on a sample sent to them do this)? I just feel like the ban is on very specific things and it creates too much "gray area" for it to really be effective...it all seems like a huge waste of money.

Legalize pot, tax the fuck out of it = no more economic issues and closed budget gap, IMO.
 
I think that the forensic chemists would probably use GC/MS, the thing is that in order to do that they'd need samples of a known purity for reference, and there's an awful lot of synthetic cannabinoids.
 
Good. Im also glad they dont care about how much money its generating. Thats such a ridiculous claim if you wanna see money generated why not legalize coke and heroin.

I feel synthetic cannabinoids especially those pushed on to an unknowing populous marketed as "herbal incense" is terrible and needs to end. Im not for prohibition im for knowledge, think of how many people smoke those blends and have no idea what jwh is. Now they should legalize weed.

Blame people instead for not educating themselves on what they're smoking/putting into their bodies.
The people who smoke that shit before looking it up deserve any panic attacks or anxiety they may get.
 
^Can you guys actually give the systematic name, or draw the structure, or give the binding affinities of any of these chems? Looking up a drug on the internet, finding out a trivial abbreviated name, and then concluding that you're educated isn't much better than just taking it anyway. The fact is, these chemicals are very new as recreational drugs, and no-one can really consider themselves informed about the risks.

I totally agree with Yerg here. I know very little about these chems, which is why I often stay out of threads discussing them. BUT, they are extremely new, have no long term research on them for that reason, and I question the safety of them even after just a small handful of experiences with 018. Seriously, this should be further backup for "please legalize marijuana so people who need to take drug tests or don't want to deal with the risk of using illegal drugs don't need to go smoking or eating chemicals which could be highly carcinogenic with no research on them as a substitute for cannabis, which is probably one of the drugs with the MOST information, case studies, scientific studies, and history out there."

Lol i can! Oooo pick me i did 3 years of organic chemistry and psychology/neuroscience at a major state university, chemical structures and receptor sites are my passion! Well not the binding affinities, but the other stuff sure.

But that doesnt even matter because i agree with you thats what i meant when i said "having no idea what they are smoking" at least knowing its silly abbreviations a step in the right direction. After all John W. Huffman is its IUPAC name right ;)

i had ONE called WTF by jungle juice (i cant find ANY info on the net bout it) that after I took one huge bong hit, it felt like salvia mixed with a bunch of other herbs....but I dont think think theres any JWH's in it. anyone else had it. they also make ones called OMG and LOL, but they suck. they all suck. marijuana is an international medicine. at least it is to me. I use it to calm my anxiety, help my depression, help me sleep (HUGE insomnia problem) and to just have a positive view on life. sure maybe in like high school I abused it and smoked allllll the time but not anymore. now its just a little helper. like a natural prozac or zoloft. that actually fucking works
