Waitng for [insert drug] to kick in? Getting impatient?

I know everyone's been at that point where you've swallowed whatever pill or done your bump and there's that always-too-long waiting period before your high kicks on.

What's your trick to speed the process? I think everyone has something that they try to help hurry up the effect. For me, I will either go to the bathroom and rinse my face with ice cold water, or just take a shower. Nothing better than getting a good hit of ecstasy or railing some high quality powder and having your roll/euphoria hit you while in a steamy shower.

Anyone else?

depends on what drug it is I'm waiting on but I rarely mind being stoned, so, sometimes that can fill the void while waiting for the come up; not blazed out of your mind just a small toke or two to lower anxiety (some people get worse anxiety from weed, I don't) and kill some time. Strain dependent you could tailor it to be more towards what kinda drug you are waiting on, Indica dominant for downers, Stativa dominant for uppers..

Any drug, for me, and the perfect thing to make the wait for the come-up go by so much quicker is packing, and then smoking, a bowl of chronic. It gives you something to do to make time go by faster, but then, when you hit it, it can usually act as a catalyst and help you feel the drug that much quicker. Pretty much my routine when I have some opiates to do, I'll get up, eat or snort a bit of opiates, pack a pipe and then I'm good to go! Also, it was the perfect amount of time for waiting on the come-up for mushrooms, which always made me REALLY anxious waiting for them to kick in.

Since the only drugs I am prescribed kick in really fast I never have to wait long.

Oxycodone IR and Xanax. Both of them kick in really fast. Back when I used to do things like LSD and Mushrooms it never bothered me that I would have to wait an hour or so before I started to really feel it.

My ex-friend that is now a hardcore IV heroin user didn't like the wait though. He used to complain that it would take too long for him to feel it after he took the shot. You know you are hurting when that 5 second wait seems like an eternity.

Makes me glad that I seem to be immune to addiction. I have been on Oxy for years as well as benzos. Many a time I had to go cold turkey from one or the other (forgot to take my meds with me) and not once did it have any impact on me what so ever. Even after smoking for 10 years (3/4 a pack a day) I just decided to quit one day and stopped. No withdraw what so ever. According to my shrink I am probably one of the very few people on this planet that has a brain wired in a way that it can't become addicted. He says this is probably the reason I don't need to keep increasing the dosage of my meds all the time. Since my body never adjusts to them being in my blood stream.

Hell I can still get drunk off of one glass of wine, even after drinking for 20 years.

Every time I take something it's like I have never had it before. The downside though is that with the exception of alcohol I have a naturally high tolerance for everything. The first time I took Xanax (first benzo I had) it took 4 mgs before it touched my panic attacks. But on the bright side I will never have to go above 4 mgs per dose and if I need to stop them one day it will be like i never had them in the first place. Hell how many people can say that 10mgs of Oxy is enough to get them high after taking the same dose for years and years day after day?

How do I put this mildly? BULL SHIT!!!

You're probably an alien too, from Zeta Reticulii

vyvanse is the only thing i ever take that takes a while to kick in and i just respect the time cause its something i dont experience with other drugs. i usually do smoke a little herb when the vyvanse starts to kick in though and i love the combo.

patience is a virtue... the sooner it kicks in, the sooner it will be over

That's how I like to look at it, otherwise the Nearly Empty Stomach method is good enough for me, most of the time.

When I take buprenorphine sublingually, it kicks in before its done even dissolving, same with lorazepam/clonezepam under the tongue :)

Not an alien, at least i dont think so. Just have a weird body chemistry. I wont complain though. I have never tried meth, coke or any other stims so there is a chance that i could get extremly addicted to them but when it comes to the downers my body just never adjusts to them. I have also never IVed anything besides a little morphine is the er once so that also could be my ticket to junkie ville but since i will never try i dont have to worry about it. There is also another downside to my body that i have come across. Anti-biotics almost never work for me. So if one day i get a really bad infection i could be up shit creek.

With DXM, I usually pass the first 20-30 minutes doing whatever, and then all it takes is a little music, and darkness and let the games begin.

With opiates, I just do whatever, get comfortable usually. It is funny one of the first times I did Percocet (10 mg), I kept waiting, and waiting for the effects to come on, and started to get almost pissed, cause like an hour or maybe more had gone by. All I had to do was curl up in bed, in the dark, and watch TV. Euphoria hit me like a freight train. First time I did Lortab (15 mg) I was expecting to wait some, not an hour, but maybe half an hour, but I swear it came on with a punch not more than 20 minutes after dosing. It was actually pretty intense. Loved it.

Benzos I take everyday, but I take my morning alprazolam then shower immediately after. By the time the shower is over, I am much more comfortable.

yeah I love taking drugs just before getting in the shower. I step in all anxious about the upcoming day and step out a different person.

Hahaha whenever I shower all coked up I hit myself with double soap-poofs vigorously, best part is coming out CLEAN AS FUCK

I never get impatient about it, sometimes I do, but not that much.

Like others I smoke a bowl, it really is my absolute favorite and I think my before-opiates kik in bowl is one of the best. Kind of like people saying after-sex cigarettes are the best. :D

I go with the empty stomach method as well except when I'm doing oxymorphone, a nice fatty meal is a great potentiator and will keep that high going just a little while longer.

Nice to see a fellow VA native on here NeighborhoodThreat.. I live right down the road in Lynchburg and have a bunch of friends up in the Ric! :D

waiting to get hit by a drug rarely bothers me unless it takes an abnormally long time.
usually i'm with friends so we just keep talking and having a blast like we always are all the time until it kicks in and we have twice as much of a blast.

all the drugs at home i do i smoke for the most part, otherwise i just do whatever i was doing before the ingestion lol

I personally like to relax, listen to music, and then maybe draw a bit. Something I enjoy to ease me into my high
