4/10

Masta Ace - "Rap 2k1"

when you heard this style from buck?
Huh?

when have you ever heard that particular style of verbal flow from Buckshot The BDI MC

Um, I don't know. I think I misunderstood this thread. I thought we rated the song above us and then linked to a song of our own for the next poster to rate. I didn't know I had to be familiar with each artist's entire discography to rate. I apologize. Is there a sticky with the rules for this thread somewhere?

you mate a comment on the lyrical flow... I was pointing out why it was that way

liked the style they were going for, kind of like a bluesgrunge and the sax solo thrown in there was awsome. just wish they would have built more off of the idea. thought it was creative in style but not in composition and the chill vocals were cool but he didnt pull off the energy vocals very well. know what I mean?

overall original tune though

thought ide through in a movies soundtrack to mix it up

Waltz With Bashir OST - Andante-Reflection (End Title)

Beautiful guitar playing and songwriting but vocally sour. The vocals reminded me of Mark E. Smith combined with Bob Dylan.
6/10

Mark E. Smith gave them their fist big break, and they did a reprise of the 'Desire' cover photo too. :)

The Dylan influence became more prominent later. The guitarist at that time was classically trained. The vocals are something you either love or hate. Like Lou Reed, but from Birmingham.

I typically don't listen to think kind of rock, but this was a really well made song. 8/10

This is a Ukrainian band doing a cover version of Bob Marley's jammin. They do it surprisingly well IMO.

5'nizza - Jammin

I guess I don't really get it. It sounds very similar to Marley's version, but the instrumentation is so quiet. One thing I loved about Marley was the backing bands awesome basslines and that beautiful subdued reggae sound. You can't hear any of that here . 5/10--from someone who doesn't get it

Street Smart Cyclist - Hoods Up!

Nice. Are they from DC by chance? Sounded like some post-hardcore stylings kinda reminiscent of FUGAZI or something off of Dischord.
Good breakdown and build-up, and the syncopation makes the song, especially in the vocal interlude part and the slightly frantic guitars.
8.5/ 10. thoroughly enjoyable.

I discovered this band when I was studying abroad. They fucking rock.
Enanitos Verdes - Por el Resto

Close! Bethlehem, PA. Good call on the Dischord comparison though. Love that shit.

Live recording sounds CRISP. Keyboard/bassy intro. WOW guitar leads. Kinda reminds me of Lightning Bolt at half speed? Vocals in. Very nice! Obviously can't understand a word. Love the riff underneath pre-solo. Solo was sort of predictable. The start/stops are really fun.

Almost reminds me of Juanes, in that it's pretty much just generic hard rock, but very well executed and catchy as hell even in another language.

wait. the wah solo just .. aahh.. .a ahh MY EARS

ok thats over. love that buildup. crowd chants.

more cheesy guitar? maybe that's just my personal taste but i HATE that type of soloing.

Good rock though. 7/10

someone else post a video

yeah, apparently they were like the South American CLASH. I don't like the cheese guitar either, but most of the song just kills.

basically the lyrics are...
You've been hoping and praying on something that will never come
waiting for it does

and now that its gone,
all you can do is hold your cross
for the rest of your days
for the rest of your days...

Former guitarist Sergio Embroni committed suicide on February 17, 2011.

That just happened! Wow..
