Okay so my family is moving due to my husband getting a way better job offer. A job we never thought he would get. I am moving to Florida. I won't have any problems finding a psychiatrist but I am really worried about finding a pain management dr in the amount of time so I dont run out of pain Meds. Do they script you more in cases like this or tell you good luck? I'm pretty worried. I know it's Florida but I won't be going go any bullshit pill mill. It's hard to find a good pain dr. Any tips would be appretiated. I'm more worried about not being seen soon enough. Has anyone been through this?

Otherwise I'm stoked! We got a pimp house with palm trees and amazing flowers and landscape. New will OWN and not rent which is such a huge load of stress off our backs. We will live somewhat close to the in laws so we will have a sitter minus all my moms bullshit. This is the happiest thing that could happen to us but I have these concerns. Any insight would help greatly. Basically I need to hear that it will be okay.

Basically I need to hear that if will all be fine. Going off my Meds is not an option. Thanks all!

i was on adderall (with a psychologist diagnosis before my regular RX'd it) he wanted me to come in every month to get RX cuz he is greedy and wants his copay) so i switched to a new doc and she wants me to off the .5mg xanax i've had for 1+ year. i used 30 tabs about every 1.5 months for a year and she wants me off them. pisses me off. gonnna try a new doc again soon.

Talk to your current doctor about giving you a prescription with a refill you can take with you until you get a new doctor.

^ I see no reason your doc wouldn't help you transition, unless of course you've done something in the past to make him think you are just looking for pills, and it doesn't sound like that. Good luck.

Just a suggestion, but how about telling your current doctor where you're moving to? I'm sure doctors must have connections and friends in other locations right? That would probably assure you a relatively quick appointment. Don't know if it's possible, but it couldn't hurt to ask. I'm sure you also need to go about getting your records from him together for the new doctor. You're crossing state lines, so I wonder how that works into it too.

Florida is like the worlds biggest playground for pain management doctors.

They have a ton of them that are almost like dope dispensaries.

You shouldn't worry too much. Opiate addicts travel from all over the country to Florida because it is the best place for scoring pills from doctors.

Yeah if you're moving to Florida it should actually be easier. Get a 3 month supply, move there and you should be good and able to see a Dr. and choose one that you like.

To the above posters I have legitimate problems and have never fucked up the trust with my pain management dr. Also I'm not interested in dope dealing drs.

Is it legal for a dr wo write refills for opana and Roxi? I didn't think it was but I could be way off. Thanks all.

Ahh.....so you are above everyone else and thus don't need our advice roflmao.....

It doesn't make a damn difference if you have a legit reason or not. If you know what you need then you go where you can get it lol.

You asked for advice on pain management doctors and were told that they are everywhere where you are going?

BTW, I have always had legit pain issues as well.......but if you need to be on opiates all the time you better get used to being considered a junkie.

A bluelighter with almost 3,000 posts trying to convince people that they aren't really a drug person......I have now seen it all, I can die in peace lol.

But you were so scared of losing your meds, lol, not a junkie though.....not at all........Isn't denial tasty.

There is a difference between physical dependence and addiction. Believe it or not, there ARE people with real chronic pain who NEED a professional doctor to monitor and maintain their care, not just fire off dope scripts. Its responsible and intelligent to do, not "junkie" behavior.

sorry i dont have much to contribute other than just try to find someone else who also legitimately needs meds and ask for their doc or try to get a referral from your current pm doc? maybe they know some good places in FL.

Grats on your mans promotion though! hope this new situation makes everything better for you and your family
