I have been going through withdrawal for three days now got some really good advice from people on here. I have taken soma for restless legs and loperamide for the shits

About three hours after I took the loperamide my withdrawals went away
now not all of them but enough to where I am comfortable. Now I am coming off of a 390 mg hydro habit a day. Yes I am taking about 40 pills a day. Now I read that loperamide is an opiate but it can't cross the BBB( the blood brain barrier) unless mixed with p-glicern( missed spelled) now I did take a high dose of the loperamide on someone recommendation. But since I am trying to detox did I fuck it all up? Truth fully the only part of withdrawal o feel now is very mild I almost feel normal and its 9 hrs past since I took the loperamide. Could it be I just got past the worst of it. Now I still have no energy but the cloudy ness in my head is gone and hot and cold chills are gone. Slight aches but I am always in pain any ways so I'm used to it. Now I am doing this cold Turkey to help lower my tolerance. I have norco but taking them defeats the purpose and I don't have the will power to just take a few but for some strange reason I could take non. Hmmmm. So my question is did I mess it up with loperamide and if so how far of set back is it.I was in day three when I took it.

Despite it not crossing the BBB, in myself and many other individuals loperamide is successful in nearly eliminating all withdrawals. I would imagine you set yourself back a bit, probably similar to taking some suboxone. I have read about multiple people who have used it to maintain, even, and they had to taper their use down before stopping completely because they would withdrawal equally as bad.

Not sure to be honest how far back it put you, a little bit i imagine but definitely not like taking your normal dose of oxy. I would just try and not take any more[lope] unless you really need it for the shits, take a small dose.

i think dude is fine... it is def not like takin sub.... the affinity sub is way higher and does break the BBB.... but yea just dont take more... i'd actually get some sub if u can get an 8mg and split it into 4ths... u'll be fine but PAWS is gonna be a bitch just so u know

I am sure he will be fine, you are right. But taking lope in a huge dose WILL set you back a little during a detox. I know the binding affinity of suboxone is higher, that wasn't my point. A big part of withdrawal is psychosomatic, so regardless of how he is obtaining relief, you can psych yourself into feeling a lot worse than you really are. If you use the search engine and read the hundreds of lope threads, you'll come across various people who have used lope to MAINTAIN.. same as many use subs or 'done.. They experienced w/d upon cessation, just like suboxone. So regardless of the binding affinity it is still capable of producing w/d. Your mental state plays a HUGE role in w/d, if you think you're feeling sweaty you'll start to sweat.. If you think you're feeling anxious you'll have a panic attack.. See what I am getting at?

Bottom line is lope needs more credit than it gets, and it is a fantastic w/d tool. It also has a long half life which is also why he feels fine this much later.

If you just use the lope in small doses for the shits from now on though, you will still make it, no problem. The third day is the worst day usually, so just try and tough out the last few days and you'll be over the physical part.

Good luck, regardless.

hah i just read an article about how ur brain can dramatically change the effect of narcotic pain killers on bbcnews... so yea if u wanna feel like shit you will... if u go out n do positive shit ur gonna feel alot better and MAKE SURE U DRINK MAD WATER AND GET TONS OF SODIUM!!!!

^Yeah that's the truth. Basically just try not to psych yourself out. Let your body do what it has got to do, and don't worry about what hr it is, etc. You'll know when you aren't sick anymore. Since, basically, you won't be sick.

Hah that is so the truth right there

See the post I made in your thread "withdrawl question" - this sounds very similiar to what I did with Tramadol that I explained there - I took it at the most painful, unbearable point of my w/d, and I really dont think it set me back at all**. It was almost like taking the Tramadol during the most painful part of w/d, and then it was over the next day.

** This does NOT mean load up on Tramadol/Suboxone, take it while your body is getting rid of the other opiates/you should be detoxing, and expect to not have to have a painful detox, because you probably will still. But as long as you wait until you cannot take it anymore, and take the very minimal amount you can to feel a little better, not wanting to kill yourself at least, Tram/Subs can be a very helpful tool with detox imo.

i really think you should also read up on PAWS... because i know the first time i kicked, i had no clue their was post acute withdrawl symptoms and legit thought i was still dope sick for weeks afterward it wasnt until i was in a treatment center that i was educated on the effects of PAWS which range from minor physical wd symptoms no sleep n such to just very mental cravings like bad bad cravings... if u do not know about this you could think your still detoxing

While it is true he should read up about PAWS (imo it's the most difficult thing about getting off drugs.. PAWS lasts forever it seems like!), I think it will be very evident to him when he is over the acute phase.

agreed i think once you get your appetite back is a good sign your out of the acute stages of withdrawl, but then again everyone is different so i dunno just wait it out drink lots and stay positive!

I also was ignorant to PAWS when I tried to kick methadone.

I got through the acute stage after a month of hell and when the PAWS hit me I thought that I would just be like that for the rest of my life. I thought that was what being sober would be like and relapsed.

It will get better so just don't take any more opiates. Good luck

thanks alot for your support and more info. Its now day four slept about five hours can't go back to sleep though. I have been eating the while time forcefully though. Kind if like when your tweaking and you can't eat. But I did it I'm differently gonna read about PAWS. Thanks for the heads up for sure. I know its not easy there were times I thought I lose my mind that part is over that was day two. Well sleeping pills help with sleep or should I leave them alone as well?

Good job, man. Just take it day by day, keep it up. As for sleeping pills, what are you refering to specifically? Generally, though, taking sleeping pills for a couple days during withdrawal so you can get some sleep, is fine. Mandatory for me, personally. Things like benzos can obviously lead to another addiction, so tread lightly. I would try not to start using them daily for the next 4 months though, then they'll just be a crutch and you won't sleep without them. Just use them when you're having a real tough time here in the near future, so you can try and restore your normal sleep patterns as quickly as possible. Lack of proper sleep seriously drains you.

COOL I will keep that in mind. I was able to fall asleep again for a couple hours and beside the lack of energy I'm pretty hungry and I feel good. I know I'm not out of the woods yet but it is differently looking alot better and clearer. Thanks to everyone who contributed. I know alot about dope but not abbott getting off them.
