well it seems every time i ask about pain medication for a legitimate reason even out of curiosity when talking to my doctor i am told he is not willing to discuss it with me.
now this isn't just from one doctor, this is from doctors in the emergency room, doctors at my local GP and pharmacists.

i would like to know of public pain management centres around melbourne, preferably in the eastern suburbs (ie. ringood etc), i was told the ONLY pain management centre that exists in melbourne is in caulfield, but this is the doctor that refused to give me cyclobenzaprine because it 'sounded' like a benzodiazapine' lol.

now in terms of medication goes, im curious to know at what point on the scale medications exist.
so for people in the know, could you please update the list.
please excuse the lack of medical terminology, and i also only know as far up as tramadol, i haven't been able to find out what is next on the list.
the reason i ask is that tramadol is not strong enough for my pain and i would like to know what else is up on the list with asking for oxycodone.

ie.
panadol
ibruprofen
ibruprofen+codeine
codeine
tramadol
etc
etc

any help here would be extremely appreciated.

ok, maybe what i wrote didnt get the answer that i wanted, but regardless, your post doesn't make quite much sense anyway.

i dont want to know what each medication does nor what strength or variation each medication comes in, i can research myself.
i know panadol does nothing for severe pain, i put the 'ie' (in example) as a very rough list of pain medication.

lets scratch the list an start at codeine.
i dont even know if there is something that comes after codeine that is before tramadol.
let it be known, i am not after opiods specifically.
i want a list of pain medication (not medication variables available to buy - like your 5mg endone)

is it such a hard request to have a list of pain medication listed in strength alone available in aus?
im not out to get shit to be a junky, i want relief from my pain without having to take 10 pills.

read it again and pretend your saying it to a doctor...

Theres nothing between codeine and tramadol really. Theres an even shitter opiod i cannot recall at the moment. desoxysomething.. it causes seizures and serotonin syndrome too

then codeine mixes

Codox is still in MIMs but it has no info besides call a number that now doesnt even work. And no pharmacy stocks it. it was 30mg pure codfeine tabs.

next is endone 5mg on par with the different mg's of morphine right upto blue nurses (100mg morph)
then oxycontins (sustained release oxycodone)

bupe is not strong but its high on the list who it is given to, they would give you oxycontin before bupe tablets or patches, and the pills are only 0.2mg (where as suboxone for heroin addicts get 8mg tablets x 2)

hydrocodone doesnt exist in aus as far as i know unless it was recently introduced

hydromorphone is diluid, pretty much hospital only stuff or dying cancer patients

fentanyl patches are the same kind of thing, as well as vials.

then the fucking king shit of all opiates sufenta forte is el grande. hardly ever oput of a hospital, carried by RN's nursing dying cancer patients and is a fucking great whack, but is best known for sedating patients for BRAIN SURGERY. along with oxygen and midazolam, so dont try it by yourself like i did and keep waking jup with a needle in your arm and basically going to a K world near death experience nod.....

i dont know how else to help you?

^ They still have pure codeine tablets available. There are a few generics around.

misk: There aren't really any options above codeine and tramadol besides going to the S8 opioids. We don't get hydrocodone here, which would be the mid-level opioid.

This isn't really Australian specific, but it gives you a rough idea of the strength of the different opiods:

I found this thread on BL too which has some good links:

For pain management, I understand it is prescribed in this order.

OTC meds
Codeine/Paracetamol (Panadeine Forte)
Codeine
Tramadol
Oxycodone (Endone or OxyNorm for instant release, OxyContin extended release)
Morphine Sulfate
Bupe or Methadone
Fentanyl patches

Not sure what else they prescribe.

sorry lagger, i misunderstood how you were saying what you were saying.
i completely understand the first post, but the second post is what i was wanting to know.
i had no idea of rate at which pain meds are considered either stronger or for more pain by doctors.

so that will help alot.
i think i will be able to get 5mg endone quite quite easily as i keep

lol woops, i wrote that post last night at about 10pm before even reading these other posts lol.
im a bit too out of it at the moment to read the other posts just yet, but ill have a read in a sec.

in terms of neuropathic pain, i have been taking neurontin for over a month now.
the first dr suggested at 3x 100mg a day (lol)
the second dr at 3x 300mg a day
and the last dr at 3x 500mg a day.

i have read that people with RLS have needed upto 2800mg a day to feel relief using neurtontin.
i have had 2000mg in on dose which made me trip ball slightly, but no relief was felt.
if i was to have 28000mg a day in split doses, i would go through a box in 3.5 days.
at a cost of around $30 a box, even if it did provide relief (which it doesn't) it wold cost far too much in combination with my other meds.

but im not sure if there are are neuropathic type meds (apart from lyrica which is upto $150 a box) available, so perhaps there are other options.

this is the exact info i was after, thanks mate.
regardless of whether im going to request to have it prescribed, i was curious as to what other meds are available.
i will do some research into whether it will help with my condition (RLS or fibromyalgia) in conjunction with my existing meds (conidine, baclofen and neurontin).

i do currently take tramadol, but its like taking panadol for me, i've only had one box (20) and first had 2, then after several hours i had 4, then again after several hours i had 5, at which point i realised, i could probly have 10 and it wouldnt have the desired result.

its very hard to ask a doctor about which pain medication is next in strength and then expect him to prescribe it for legitimate pain.

so thanks for the info, ill now discuss if endone will actually work for my pain with my doctor and see if he will prescribe it

yep its pretty shocking price wise and the tolerance sucks too. gaba drugs will all fail really due to excessive tolerance needed the only exception is ghb really but that will land some people in hell with withdrawals and dosing every 2 hours.

methadone is a good pain releiver i found wen i was comin off all the oxys etc and had no other source of pain releif meds( besides a heap of paadeine fortes ) and such after my car accident , i still have pain from the crash , but wen the peak of my meth dose hits the pain goes away totally , i dont get high at all even from 120mg, it just doesnt hurt where it usually does internally.. wich is perfect for my situtation , gettin my life bak on track and cant be sedated during daytime everyday all zombie like and such

bak to the point, 30 or so mg or less even wld prob work enuff for pain releif , recently had a big-ish convo with my methadone doc about done and its pain releiving propertys,. he said it does work quite well , then started crappn on bout how hitler made it as a painkiller bla bla bla sum bullshittz

i doubt theyd prescribe it for pain alone though u can find it other ways , its be good for ur daytime pain too cozx of being not too sedating , well it doesnt sedate me until 10 ish hours after i dose , and thats 120mg , not a small dose , not massive either . but ye

once u have a stable dose , theyll start u off one one take away a week , i got 3 ta's a week atm , all depends on ur situation , like if u cant get there certain days , sum docs r more flexible than others, its upto the prescribing doctor to decide on if and how many take aways u get and if u can get em all at once or got to split em between days

I have alot of friends in rehab at the moment for mainly opiates and they dont get takeaways at the beginning but once trust has built up n find a decent doc u can get takeaways 2 times a week after 6 months normally then after that u mite get 5 take aways after u have a great relationship with ur doc. Mates take it home all the time, not hard to do it LOL just use a little common sense not condoning this but can get creative by washing the subs or done with a drink n spitting it back into the bottle :) Thats just one trick i know out of a whole heap. Also found out it costs about 35 bux / week for the detox program. Well worth it and im planning to start it soon.

guys i really need some help with this.
i requested a referral to a pain clinic today from my local GP and was refused, i was told i need to speak to a psychiatrist at their clinic to rule out that my pain isn't in my head.

do i need a referral to a pain clinic?
where are they located?
i would like to at least talk to someone that works at the clinic as to how i can go about getting seen by one as i am out of ideas and out of time, i have lost my second job to my disorder still without knowing what i have and i have never asked for any pain relief in the 2 years that i have had the sever pain, yet the doctors look and talk to me like a joke, full of shit and making things up to get attention and drugs.

should be $25 a week unless its gone up and u have to wait at the clinic or chemist and asuck on the bupe. and show its gone. some people used to use wax paper to keep them to inject later or sell (yuck! mouth subs!) to people. if its a clinic your going to they usually break up the bupe into crumbles in a tiny cup for you to suck on so they cannot be stashed in their mouths for resale as pills

yeah methadone helped, but kinda felt like i was on a stronger version of codeine.
i went upto 25mg in one dose and more stimulated than pain relief, was weird.
i dont know what effects stronger opiates offer, but only one way to find out. ive got an appointment with a pain specialist on wednesday, so we'll see how it goes.
