A lot of propaganda in that article. The main reason is still down to the blight & floods, as that is why the price has risen - the opium is costing 3x-4x ore at source so it HAS to be the main reason. Obviously, because of that, when there is a seizure of 80kilos in November we actually notice it on the street & the police are trying to make themselves look better because of it & scare smugglers at the same time. Its all spin. When the price of Opium falls again at source, which will happen when there is a new harvest & therefore more around, then the price will fall on the street too. It will then be more viable & attractive to the syndicates again & it will be just as available as before. There is just too much money involved & too much at stake for it to remain this way indefinitely.

yep you on the nail with all the above, its just a waiting game for the next harvest now!

The streets of Manchester are littered with empty codeine linctus bottles. That'll tell you what the situation's like around here. Not that I've tried to score since the start of winter (y'hear that, A?x).

Still gettin pretty good (though smaller amounts) of stuff here which I'm well surprised at!
Don't have a clue where it's coming from, he just said "it's from a mate" and said no more - didn't want to pester.

Where abouts in surrey? I'm near the Camberley area and there's stuff around from what I here.

guildford here, which isnt too far from camberley, ive never been really into gear at all but a year ago i knew there was plenty around, but now im interested in getting some theres nothing it seems.

i've posted a few posts mentioning this and that a big part of me doesn't want things to improve, although my heart does go out to all the ppl who can't find decent.

i really don't want to go back to the life i had before, looking back i now realise how shit the gear was even before the drought, it's been going down the shitter for a good few yrs now, and most times i wasn't even getting a high or a gouch off the gear, it was just a habit a couldn't snap myself out of, just like a daily routine. now i realise i can manage just fine without the gear, and i'm not going to 'die' without it

i've got used to having more money, i actually feel better, i look better and healthier.
i'm defo gonna use this drought to my advantage

but know there are so many ppl who have serious mental health problems, depression (which i've gone through my self), mental/physical pain etc, these are the ones that need genuine help and if only they would legalise and prescribe diamorphine. but can you imagine this toff tory government giving a toss about ppl like us? nah, not gonna happen is it? seriously, not in my lifetime anyway. no government gives a shit, especially the tory bastards, it's just turn a blind eye & we'll all magically disappear

edit- sorry i'm posting on the wrong thread, thought it was the chat one...my head is up my arse & it's late, that's my excuse lol

To start, I am a big advocate of using the correct threads but it appears everybody is now ignoring that rule so I may as well ignore it too.

I totally agree, I rarely get a gouch of the gear (even pre-drought). Obviously I could if I spent a fair amount more or used some valium and/or beer but that's not the same... So in my opinion it was just part of my life and my daily routine.
Work, goto lunch, organise some gear for later, work, finish work and drive 20miles to Brighton and meet friends/users and score. My key worker told me that alot of my addiction is related to the kind of routine and procedure I go through to score... i.e the waiting for the dealer anxiously, dealer comes, trying to barter with him (as we normally had a few off us buying 2 or 3 each), etc, etc.
Taht coupled with my mental health issues (I'm currently severely depressed) but there has been some awful things that have happened to me. I'm not going to write them all here but if you were interested I posted a history of my life in another thread on Bluelight. It details all the things that happened to me to drive me to gear usage and my usage history from day 1 to a month or so ago. It's an interesting read (a little long but shouldn't take more than 10mins to read... if that, probably much less!)
I've been to the doctors and asked for anti depressants and anti anxiety stuff and they gave me citalopram (which is basically what they give to everyone). It has helped I am much less depressed (my depression peaked 3 weeks ago and I couldn't even get up to go to work [so i went to the doctors]). I was off work work for nearly 3 weeks. At this point, I couldn't do anything... talking to people made me cry and I didn't know why. Now after 4 weeks of taking the meds, I can happily go to work and deal with life in general but I am still unhappy. I know that if I could buy decent gear then I would be a great person and could happily take on the world without worrying. I got another appointment on Friday so going to try and get some benzos for the anxiety and also get them to double my dosage of citalopram from (40mg daily to 80mg daily, this won't be easy though as most people are on 20mg daily)

Anyway, I link to the post that I mentioned isHERE. If you do read it (which I'd really appreciate), post me a reply either in my PM, on here, on the social or in the thread my post is located in. I'd love to know what people think and if my situation isn't actually that bad and people are much worse off. Personally, I think I've had a really fucked up life and that has driven me to heroin. It's the only way I can cope with the world

Once again, I'd really appreciate people's input on this post as advice is ALWAYS welcome and I feel that my post was ignored in the thread I posted it too. Such a shame as that thread is meant to be for asking/giving advice. SO all advice is welcomed open heartedly, in fact I'd be so grateful I'd even send you muy complimentary drug basket which contains 15x500mg amps of diamorphine hydrochloride (pure heroin!)!!!!

North Dublin.

I just got a text from a really good & trusted mate to say that he has really good H!!! But last week another good mate, (although not as good a mate, he is more of a good dealer) told me that he had proper pre drought H & it just turned out to be 'good bash.' So I promised myself that i wouldn't score again until the drought is 100% over!!!!

Oh what to do.......... what to do.................. :!

As for the Serious Organized Cime Unit. It kinda cracks me up as almost comical the names that the UK government gives to its bureaucratic entities, its almost melodramatic. I know there are varrying levels of organized crime but they couldn't settle for organized crime unit or tranational...they had to useserious.8) Anyway, I would argue thet what the interviewee was saying might have alot of basis in reality. When the Taliban decided to ban opium in 2000 it wasn't for religious/altruistic reasons but they wanted to decrease the supply of opium, the way OPEC nations do oil, to increase the price of opium and fund there war against the Northern Alliance. Every now and again a developing nation with lots of oil will sell petroleum cheep on the world market which throws a monkey wrench in OPEC's plans. So anyway, the monkey wrench in this scenario came via the good ol' USA and our NATO allies. As you all probably know, the supply of opium and heroin skyrocketed, once the invasion of afganistan began and the Taliban were deposed. The USA under the Bush administration took the lead role and its common knowledge that they widely ignored opium growing- and probably ignored international please to do something about it in the interest of not alienating warlords that were helpful against the Taliban. Karzai is corrupt and his brother is a known player in the narcotics game. A wikileaks cable from one of the southern provinces (maybe helmund?) is very telling. At any rate it was in the UK sector and contained information criticizing the UK armed forces as being ineffective and asked that they be replaced by US forces. Anybody who knows the military world could tell you that the UK forces are among the most professional, well trained, and effective from the SAS, SBS, Royal Marines, Paras, to the regular troops, its a professional not conscript army.

My interpretation, the UK troops were too good, and whats more were starting to target players in the dope business. The request is that they be replaced by "more competent US troops." Now I think he was hedging a bet that the US would ignore poppy eradication like they had done traditionally in an effort to "win hearts and minds." We have Obama now "that was mum on the whole drug issue in his State of the Union Address-which is strange but off subject," who is more of an internationalist. The Russians were complaining in the fall that the USA wasn't doing enough to stop the "drug problem" and afgan corruption- they wanted to send their own troops, they, in fact stationed Russian border guards in Tajikistan that were subsidized by the UN. So without going to in debth, the USA is working with other countries, I suspect at counternarcotics efforts. Plus there were international cordinated strikes on the Northern and Southern routes, add to that more colaboration through interpole and the UNODCP and the blight, and the rains, and the Taliban that are involved with poppies using opium stooks under their control as a bank account for future needs. The UK and Russia have taken a leading role in fighting west-central Asian originated opium. Plus steped up domestic counternarcotics efforts- its probably a confluence of all these factors- but the British police and I don't know about the Garda, seem to be steping up their efforts domestically.

It sounds like the UK SOCU is working with its counterparts in the Turkish government. My advice is to lobby your MP or rep in the republic not to allow Turkey into the EU because that may be the bargaining chip that the turks are playing-push hard to characterize the modern Turkish state as the Hardline Islamic fundamentalist state that they've become friends of iran, which works with and probably covertly suports the type of people that blow up subways and would attack western nationals world wide, not the secular moderate state of old. That might piss off the turks enough to reopen there country as a trade route-or stop providing the level of cooperation and then age old corruption will take over and reopen that section of the trade route.

About SOCU, every bureacrasy has to justify its budget, like I posted in the social thread from Joseph D. McNamara, former chief of police of San Jose, CA:

T'S THE money, stupid." After 35 years as a police officer in three of the country's largest cities, that is my message to the righteous politicians who obstinately proclaim that a war on drugs will lead to a drug free America. About $500 worth of heroin or cocaine in a source country will bring in as much as $100,000 on the streets of an American city. All the cops, armies, prisons, and executions in the world cannot impede a market with that kind of tax-free profit margin. It is the illegality that permits the obscene markup, enriching drug traffickers, distributors, dealers, crooked cops, lawyers, judges, politicians, bankers, businessmen.

Naturally, these people are against reform of the drug laws. Drug crooks align themselves with their avowed enemies, such as the Drug Enforcement Administration, in opposing drug reform. They - are joined by many others with vested economic interests. President Eisenhower warned of a military-industrial complex that would elevate the defense budget unnecessarily. That military-industrial complex pales in comparison to the host of industries catering to our national puritanical hypocrisy-researchers willing to tell the government what it wants to hear, prison builders, correction and parole officers' associations, drug-testing companies, and dubious purveyors of anti-drug education. Mayor Schmoke is correct about the vested interests in the drug war.... And the conviction that the use of certain drugs is immoral chills the ability to scrutinize rationally and to debate the effects of the drug war. When Ethan Nadelmann pointed out once that it was illogical for the most hazardous drugs, alcohol and nicotine, to be legal while less dangerous drugs were illegal, he was roundly denounced. A leading conservative supporter of the drug war contended that while alcohol and nicotine addiction was unhealthy and could even cost lives, addiction to illegal drugs could result in the loss of one's soul. No empirical proof was given....Conservatives like Bennett normally advocate minimal government. Liberals like Califano ordinarily recoil from the draconian prison sentences and property seizures used in the drug war. This illustrates why it is so difficult to get politicians to concede that alternative approaches to drug control need to be studied. We are familiar with the perception that the first casualty in any war is truth. Eighty years of drug-war propaganda has so influenced public opinion that most politicians believe they will lose their jobs if their opponents can claim they are soft on drugs and crime. Yet, public doubt is growing. Gallup reports that in 1990 only 4 per cent of Americans believed that "arresting the people who use drugs" is the best way for the government to allocate resources.

So anyway, the man was probably pressured hard by the Torries to clamp down hard and come up with a workable plan. It sounds like they have other projects to keep the money flooding in, even in an era of UK cutbacks.

From the above quote though, it would be like your an insect exterminator- if you do your job well, you;ll have customers and referals, too good, there won't be any pests left and you won't have customers or some natural predator comes by to eliminate ants or bedbugs, ect...you'll be out of a job unless their still mice to go after. But were talking about government beaucracies not private sector who live in a different world.

Its to the US DEAs advantage to make high profile busts but not be too efficient because they are very specialized. In an ideal world drugs would be legalized and they could be reasigned to make sure taxes are collected, going back to their treasury department roots. Be safer for them. Maybe they would get paid more salary with all the money the US government would save and make from taxes.

The silver lining, the UK is working in colombia but the warlords in Burma need money to fight the central government and I came across a piece saying that they are resuming poppy cultivation and adopting more sophisticated tasmania like agricultural, alkaloid extraction techniques. So the shan states, ect may be the poor country throwing a monkey wrench in OPEC's plans in my earler analogy (if I haven't put you to sleep yet). Remember in capitalism the free market always finds a way. The 500,000 pound question is when and how.

I do agree that for some (like yourself) the drought is a good thing, but for me, as a human being with rights, we should have a choice, i.e. if we dont want to give it up, then we shouldn't be controlled/forced to give it up, its all very big brother, being controlled ect.. this drought has forced a lot of people to go for more harmful drugs, as some use opiates as a medication for depression, anxiety ect..i myself use it for depression, and an escape from shitty reality, as i believe we should have a choice, and not be controlled and forced upon us.

I am in complete concurance with zara and consider the right to use drugs or to choose not to use drugs an essential liberty or human right. Her awareness in my opinion is on a higher plane. If drug prohibition was just a case of the accused having their drugs taken away and sent to rehab or away with a stern warning I wouldn't mind it as much. In many countries and jurisdictions the perpetrators of the drug war are guilty of Gross human rights violations and they along with the drug cartels are guilty of Crimes Against Humanity. By perpetrators I refer to politicians currying favor with their constitutents not LEO, atleast the honest ones that are trying to do their jobs. Zara and I might not completely agree on specific solutions (though I think were on the same page) but I think:

Drugs should be legalized, taxed, and honsest unbiased drug education should be available.

At the very least we should stop filling our jails and open up more resources, harm reduction, rehab facilities based on the individuals choice.

Or if drugs and drug addiction aren't legalized, they should atleast be medicalized. In an era of real government debt issues I believe this saves money for the tax payer.

Quotes for the day: "He that governs least governs best."
"A patriot must be willing to save his country from its government"- something we yank wankers have failed horribly at I will freely admit and owe the world an appology.
"Those that would sacrafice essential liberties for alittle security deserve neither."

@ Jay R: I read your post and posted in darkside thread, It was a very compelling thread. It was a very compelling thread and had similarities to my story. You have everything to live for- a promissing career so put this behind you. Bupe might be beneficial as a short term detox med or long term maintenance since it blocks the rush- but don't know if its in widespread use in the UK. Hang in there- chase your recovery like your drugs- and consider 12 steps- atleast its free and is full of people that are living a sane drug free existance (not insane like me). The important thing is their happy doing it- and look for young peoples' meetings were you live. Please excuse the unsolicited suggestions. I almost forgot- areobic excercise does wonders. I had had 3.5 years completely straight edge clean 98-new years eve 01-02. I was going to the gym 5 days a week. I was the happiest I had ever been but thought I could go back to drinking occasionally, thats another story but I was in a deep depression when I was clean 4 months into it after moving from San Francisco to San Jose. Excercise helped lift the depression- 45 minutes a day weights and reading a book on the lifecycle for 20-20 minutes. Took 2 months but the PAWS were better and remember they are cyclical- but they establish new setpoints away from negative affect states as time goes on so long that you don't use, that fucks up everything but don't beat yourself up over a relapse, thats were the whole one day at a time concept comes in. Anyway, I'll respond next time in the other forum.

Out of curiosity, what is the supply situation in Ulster (or do I call it Northern Ireland) don't want to comit a faux pas. I'm sure there is a drought their too, but was there a decent scene in cities like belfast, londonderry, ect... are the troubles over? Who uses dope more, the catholics or the protestants?

* * u p d a t e : N o r t h d u b l i n i n n e r c i t y * *

One of my main men from way back when is very much back in business with 10/10, and he's constantly reloading (in fact he's off reloading now). Also, when I arrived at his house there were two other people there who informed me its all just about back to normal as regards supply, but the prices are still inflated @40 a pop. The sizes are beautiful.

I'm in debt now of 40 so I have to get that together by Saturday or I wont get my phone back. Ha, its been so long since this has happened. The gear is that strong that it was almost too much for me when I first got hold of it, none of us could keep our heads up and speaking was next to impossible.

My day has finally come. Four months down the line and it is finally here. I predicted February and by god I was right. My particular man is only charging 40 a pop until next weekend, then his prices are normalising and its back to 20 from then on in.

I'm smashed now until Saturday when hopefully I can get a lend, but I'm not smoking everyday ever again anyway, despite me probably being able to get a bag in 5mins on tic till next monday. I'd rather pay my debt saturday, then get one on lay until Monday.

Somni, I'll be in touch bro - expect a message. Keep fighting the noble cause, firends...

i can now get decent from 3 diff ppl
the stuff i had last night took off my rattle and had me stripping down after 3 lines even tho it didn't seem that great at 1st
and it easily held me 12 hrs overnight-not even a hint of any rattle this morning
not bad
and prices are starting to settle almost back to normal
about fucking time too

Dublin has been recently improving over the recent weeks in my opinion. ive been following the thread closely although this is the first time i logged in to post.

Ive been sticking to my script over the drought, just buying the occasional bag, and having looks at ones bought by friends and I can say that quality has gone from shite bash to good bash.

Now I hear reports of proper pre drough gear back around the city in a few small pockets. I've yet to see such gear myself but a friend of mine is getting some tomorrow so Ill have a look and get a verdict!

Dont want to jinx it but it looks as though the drought is finally coming to an end. :) Prices are still high, double or more at bag level. 30e a q for a small score or 15 bag. Dunno whether the drought ending is a good r bad thing. I like my occasional bit of gear to brighten up my script once r twice a month but I dont want to go back to daily use and get a double habit like last year. :(

I wanna know how come the Paddies always seem to get decent gear??? they get decent pills with MDMA in em!! While here in the midlands we get shite!! that aside scored a half decent bag in my own little Town last night maybe 7/10 although I had had a lot to drink cos was my birthday as well as ground hog day! had to do some speed this morning just to get up for work!! and theres me telling everyone in the pub Im getting too old for all this drug shit!!

Everyone who wants the drought to be over (didn't decide to go the clean route), please excersize caution if the quality is rising. Smoke if possible instead of using the needle- otherwise do a test dose- inject a cc/ or 2 and wait 10-15 sec you know by then. If you can pick up some narcan (nalaxone), have it at the ready.

I'm sure not heaps of people will be falling out, but some, used to dope wacked to shit might have tinny tolerances so be safe and those who choose to indulge, indulge safely and with the protection of Almighty Force of Good.

The artificially inflated prices might last- or things might get to pre drought levels.

Those of you who want to use, indulge in peace and safety, those of you who have been thinking of quiting hurry up- get into treatment, what not, the window may be closing or this might be a temporary improvement in quality for the dope players to maintain their customer base albeit at a higher price.

Bless you all, there are some good souls on this thread.

I said before that we will know when the drought is over cos you will hear ambulances running all over town

If I had a penny for every 'the drought is over because I got some decent gear' post then I'd end the drought personally myself by turning vast swathes of the globe into poppy fields.

Having said that, I saw somebody nodding at a bus stop for the first time in ages yesterday.

Nice to see some positive comments on the thread, but take the advice above and try to smoke a bit first before fouling your veins with what could still be packed with barbs and shite.
