So who likes benzos? El Benzo Threado Spectacularrrr 2nd Edition

Someone doesn't need to have 'severe' anxiety to get good use from benzo's. Nobody NEEDS benzos, except current benzo addicts, but since when is the only excuse to take something because you need it.

I used to think I was using bezodiazepines recreationally when I would pop a couple and go about my day and feel ace. Nowadays I draw less of a distinction between recreational and tehrapeutic in this sense, YES I feel good as a result of taking drugs but really the only reason I feel good is because it has therapeutically relieved my negative sumptoms.

I feel too often when someone enjoys their medication in any way shape or form, somebody decides that they must not be using it what its used for, or don't have the symptoms the yclaim. To me this is just BS, it makes much more sense someone suffering from anxiety will enjoy their anxiety meds.

Yeah you made a really good point! :)

Especially the bold part... +1000000

I think I'd sort of be and maybe be in the same boat as you... I have trouble these days going about my daily things wether it be going to the mall, movies or out to the city because of my 'mild' anxiety, but I'm pretty sure it's getting much worse over the past month or two which really suck.

This is because I just moved to Melb not knowing anyone, no family, grandma passed away, no job yet, cats gone, stressed etc etc - absolutely nothing with real life troubles concerned with a lot of members here and people in the world, just effects me cause that's a lot for me to take in, in such a short period of time.

What annoys me more is that I have a job interview coming up and when ever I am doing something where I get nervous I've had 'mild' panic attacks and like I said, lately it's been going on for over a month.

I let the doctor know this, yet he still prescribes me those desvenlafaxine pristiq tablets - yes I know he's probably doing what he thinks is best but when I'm constantly having slight panic attacks and especially in tough situations he should prescribe me something like valium where it isn't as strong as xanax (not to sure about benzos).

Anyway point is, I have to go back in 2 weeks and I still doubt he's going to prescribe me something that actually works because of all the bad press about it.

Looks like I'm going to have to catch a tram to St. Kilda, walk the streets and then buy some xanax off some hooker for like $[snip] or w/e the street price is or fly to sydney and ask around, really sucks that I have to spend 10 times w/e the price is to get a prescription medicine which would benefit my day to day life, sighhhhhhh

i think it is true, should only be around 5% leniancy of generic medications due to law but GenRX definitely make some SHIT xanax bars.

You believe they are weaker? Hope not, I just filled my prescription and said to the pharmacist 'yeah generic is fine' and ended up with GenRX.

I actually worked in a pharmacy when I was 17 and was told by the pharmacist all generics are the same as the real thing due to government regulation and by law the person serving you has to offer generics to the customer - it's also because the pharmacist gets money back at the end of the year for selling generics and ends up more profitable for them.

This was 5 years ago but so things might of changed and not sure how true the word was from the Pharmacist since she was an old bitch to work with lol.

And no, unfortunately I had no idea about prescription medicines when I was working, was to focused on weed.

If you notice a significant difference in the bioavailability/effectiveness of a generic medication, you should complain to the manufacturer. Might not do anything, but it would make me feel better.

It is accepted that there can be differences in absorption and bioavailability; this is why sometimes doctors won't permit brand substitution for a medication. Especially for things like warfarin.

I don't know about pharmacists getting money back at the end of the year for generics, but they do make a higher profit on generics usually compared to the brand name medication.

So like nearly every other day, 9:40am, can't sleep, anxiety etc etc

Just another day with out a prescription the Dr could of given me to help with this!

Well I'd like to do that and scrap this Indian Doctor who has trouble speaking English but if the Doctors talk or realise I already had an appointment previously then I'd be screwed and have 0 chance...

Maybe you could ask to be referred to a psychiatrist. Just a thought. Also, they're not nearly that pricey on the street. Unless of course, you want the hooker as well for a few hours :)

^^^ Hmmm, i dont agree. It doesn't matter if you've seen 1 doctor or 10! It's your body and if you truly think your illness is that debilitating then you should be pushing the point!

I8ve seen some very dodgy indian family run pharmacies that have benzos and other meds from india. and when i tried the valium from there which was their generic version instead of alphapharms it felt like i had taken a stimulant when i took around 20, it was seriously like they were caffeine, i forget the box name but the pills were yellow and had a little 5 on them and a score

I hope this doesnt constitute advice on doctor shopping as I believe I saw this info posted on Bluelight. I was under the impression you need to visit like 6 or 7 different clinics in a few months to get put on the "doc shoppers register" even if one is on this register I question the impact it would have, and you get taken off quickly.

You are certainly entitled to see several doctors and if it is different clinics they wont access your information from other clinics. Once at my usual doctor my usual guy wasn't there so I saw someone different for my benzo script, the next time I mentioned how the other doctor had told me in future to only see him for benzos. He wasn't even aware I had got a benzo script from another doctor at the same clinic on my very last visit until I verbally notified him, despite the fact I could easily see this information on his monitor.

I really don't think there is a great deal of thoroughness in checking this shit, and there shouldn't be really, if you are unsatisfied with a doctor or their medical advice it is your right to seek alternate advice.

There is a number doctors can call to check all your recent prescriptions, but despite having been literally thrown out of a doctors office for "doctor shopping" I have never had one phone in my script history and I have also never been put on the doc shoppers register.

I would like to say to the mods, I am not here trying to help people go shopping, but it seems to me muntedmunter has a legitimate use for these medications. I think it is only fair he be told that theres nothing wrong with him seeing a few clinics, since he seems to believe this could bring trouble his way.

Thanks again for the advice, it's much appreciated! :-)

I'm actually going to book another appointment at one of these lolpreston medical surgeries tomorrow and see if I can get another Doctors opinion.

I had the idea that they all sort of keep record of everyones visits, even though as you and others said it is my right to get another Docs opinion on this and that is what I will do tomorrow.

Hope they didn't actually kick you out btw, how humiliating and rude imo.

Yeah I don't know the right price but when I was in Sydney I paid some hooker in kings cross [snip] per xanax and it didn't come with a BJ- ripped off i assume.

Anyway, will let you know how it goes, fingers crossed cause I'm slowly getting on the breaking point with all this and considering I've been putting this off for quite some time.

They can see your previous medical history and what is prescribed and discussed come up on the screen at the clinic. But as drug mentor said, whether they would have time to or the will to look at it closely, is another thing. Doctors are generally really busy, running behind time, so won't often notice these things.

Like has been said, you are well within your rights to look around for a doctor that you feel is right for you. this is not doctor shopping, but rather trying to access appropriate medical care.

Happy to say I'm currently down to 15mg Valium daily (tapering for the 3rd time in the past ~5 years). To be down to 15mg diazepam is a good feeling considering the stupid amounts of clonazepam I was taking alongside large amounts of alcohol. Dropping to 12mg in a few days... I hope to not be taking anymore vals within a month or two, then it'll be another several months before my head will regain some normality.

Hope anyone else going through the same stuff at the moment is doing well :) Benzo/alcohol w/ds ain't fun :\

^i had been wondering how you were going with that, man. keep up the good work, i hope it's been as comfortable as possible.

are you aiming to get off it or just a lower maintenance level?

removed a few unnecessary comments. keep the the discussion on topic.
