bluelight.ru.....how safe is it?

Could police or drug enforcement folk get access to things like PMs if they wanted? I mean, stuff we consider to be private here...is it well and truly private?

I'd have thought they could go after anyone if they really wanted to but unless you're blatantly dealing, wouldn't think they'd normally be interested.

This is not an SSL encrypted forum.
Private messages are sent in plain text if police wanted information and thought someone was dealing from here in PMs they could get your ISP to log all http connections to bluelight and other sites for a certain time period and search through it,on ly way around that is to use things like undrugged used to and have tor encrypted proxies server and client side

Which is why you'd be smart to not admit to anything more than personal use.

Any info you send, doesn't go straight to Russia. The info has to pass through many points. Not just in Australia either, I'm pretty sure it will go through USA too, before it reaches it's destination. Alot of resources needed to access this info though so they would have to justify it pretty well.

On a serious note. I am sure police do monitor this site. Hell they may even have people who are active participaters in this forum (places tin foil hat on head and looks around suspiciously).

So it pays to be careful with what you say.

IMO though, the media and the police probably use this more as a resource to gauge trends in drugs and use. people here tend to be on the forefront of knowledge, and if a new research chem etc, comes on the scene it is reported here quickly, the police would then take note and follow up investigations on said chemical. Thats my take on it anyway.

I don't shit about IP addresses (don't even know what one is), so no idea how secure the site is.

BTW, is bluelight still on the blacklist for web censorship. Is this legislation still pusing foreward?

Perhaps better suited to the support forum. I'll see if I can lure an admin in to posting an appropriate response. There has already been some sensible advice though which is reflected in the guidelines: don't post anything incriminating, don't post any personal contact details (or pm them to anyone you don't trust), don't post any details for meet-ups etc.

... and let's just say it's safest to assume that Australian LE does monitor this forum.

For the record, we have never recieved a request or subpoena from LE for the database records, for this to happen it would have to be some sort of international law enforcement order that is observed by the authorities in the Netherlands. In which case, our hosts would have to abide.

There have been numerous threads asking the same question in Support so have a search for these. Bluelight is about promoting harm reduction and our policy regarding sources and availability discussion reflects that. Please don't post or use PM on Bluelight for anything that might make us a target of interest to such bodies; in part, yes, we are depending on our users to moderate themselves and consider the future of the site before sending PM's.

Please do, thanks

As someone said earlier, bluelighters and meet ups have been targeted in rainds previously, but this is nothing new. I know of police who have "befriended" drug users and dealers for 12 months or more before leading a bust. They baby sat kids, played guitars at backyard BBQ's all the while collection information and setting up wire taps etc. It does not take a very large investment for the police to employ someone to become a trusted member here and even become a senior mod if they are charming enough. They could even post on their over time. There was a time here when you couldn't even type the word "narc" because of a glich in the matrix. Coincidence???

It is not just the law you should be concerned about, any one here could be a cyber stalker. I have heard rumours of previous members collecting a data base of moderators names, adresses and trying to blackmail members. It is not that hard a feat to slowly aquire personal info here. There are plenty of members I have never met yet I could give you their first name and suburb where they live. Plenty would be able to call me at work if they really had the inclination.

But why stop at being worried about Bluelight? Every time I go to a doof, or smoke a spliff at the park while playing football I am incriminating that I support the illegal activites discussed here. I believe that life is to be lived though and the only way to change things is to lead by healthy example. Risky? Perhaps but paranoia is just as unhealthy. My advice for posting here is to sprinkle any information with a healthy amount of bullshit, that way the Feds will have to prove what is real and what is simply made up ;)

theres no reason for a jump through USA first before hitting any country that would make things extremely slow and shitty

Thanks for all the great responses, I think this thread is a good reminder to us all to be careful what we post as we can all get a little complacent about how much info we put on a public forum about ourselves.

As for law enforcement reading these forums or even joining as a member, and god forbid the thought of them becoming a mod.....I doubt it as I havnt really seen anyone posting anything that would warrant the time it would take, in the end most of us are just users of drugs and not huge drug dealers.....but you never know

*disclaimer: I do not partake in illicit drugs, I am a 89 year old pensioner that has a passing interest in youth culture

You're only as safe as how much information you provide! It is possible that the Aus police request certain information from the provider but it is highly doubtful this information would be passed over!

....they could get your ISP to log all http connections to bluelight and other sites for a certain time period...

This wont happen! It technically possible to do but the logistics of actually doing it means that it's not possible for police/ISP
to do*.

PillReports and Bluelight are hosted on the same server in Rotterdam. Very secure. Nothing to worry about.

The only risk comes from you getting off your face and rambling about your massive stash and revealing personal information.

+1

* how do I know this? let's just say I have first hand experience
