New moderator applications open [Applications Closed]

It is time again to invite interested bluelighters to join the Australian Drug Discussion staff and help us to share the workload. Some of our current staff are very busy in their real lives and will more than likely be stepping down in the not too distant future. For this reason, we would like to get a new Mod on board ASAP, so that we can train them up before we lose the other Mods.

Some of you are well aware of the Mod application process, but for those of you who aren't, here's what we need from you...

PM two (or more) current Australian Drug Discussion Mods with your application.

Applications will include (and you will be judged on) the following criteria:
  • Reasons for why you believe you would be a good member of the team.
  • Some background information (tell us a little about yourself).
  • Sensibility-maturity.
  • Knowledge of Drugs.
  • Roughly how much time you can spend modding.
  • What Bluelight means to you?
  • What is HR?
  • Why you are interested in becoming a Mod?
  • Empathy and non-judgment.
  • Overall understanding of guidelines and principle aims of Aus DD.
  • Future direction for BL & some ideas for this direction.
  • Demonstrated dedication to Aus DD (as opposed to other BL forums).
  • Provide references to any claims or statements that you make.

Please do not send us applications along the lines of "I have been a bluelighter in the Aus DD section for X amount of years, I am respected and I deserve the position" (you'd be surprised!). Such applications will sit on the bottom of the pile, so please take your time and only send in informative and well thought out applications. If you don't have the time to apply properly, then you sure as hell don't have the time to moderate Aus DD properly.

The Aus DD staff would like to send their well wishes to all applicants.

Didn't you have to send your application to 2 mods when you applied Mr Blonde?

I know I did and I'm guessing it's for the reason which you state above and also other important factors such as finding out whether the applicant actually knows who 2 Aus DD mods are ;)
 
^ Lol at knowing who two mods are. :D

I don't think I had to send it off to two mods, but I may have just CC'd it to everyone... but yeah it is a good idea to send it to multiple mods. :)
 
Just incase the mod you send it to doesn't like you and deletes it :/

But, looking forward to people putting up there hand, AusDD is our forum, and if your passionate about it. Put up your hand and send in a well thought out application.

Wouldn't mind moderating ADD, I don't consider myself experienced enough though and know there are many others here that would do a fantastic job.

Not everyone has the drug knowledge of our wonderful phase_dancer, or the in depth knowledge and passion for psychedelics like psilo. But, all of us in AusDD do have a part to play in the forum. Mod's should know quite a bit about drugs for sure, but take myself for example, my knowledge outside of THC/MDMA/LSD/4MMC/2-CB is quite limited. However, my ability to find such knowledge and point people in the right direction is what makes up for it.

Also one's attitude towards new posters and posting that same damn link to the Ecstasy Mega Link page on the 1000's time with a smile is what's important.

Knowledge is only one part of the needed qualities. So, don't cut yourself short if you think your not as knowledgeable some people, because everyone has there strengths.

Just a reminder that this thread isn't for posting applications or nominations. If you have any queries about the whole process though then fire away.

I'd just like to reiterate what Sykik said. None of us are expecting any applicants to have the drug knowledge of p_d or psilo (hang about with them for a while and some of it starts rubbing off on you though). Key points are having an open-mind, being able to consistently devote time to the upkeep of Aus DD, and not being afraid to step on some toes enforcing the guidelines.

I have the intelligence combined of psilo and phase, back in the day when he used to dabble around in the hive...haha. but nah, ive sent off two pms to the modz of dis forum.

Well said belarki and sykik. You don't have to be a chemistry wiz or drug encyclopedia to Mod Aus DD. As long as you have an open mind, are able to work as a team, are willing to learn/enforce the guidelines and have some spare time on your hands, you could be the new blood which we seek.

My drug knowledge base exploded when I had a slow internet connection and I was forced to read about drugs, while I waited for my midget porn to download ;)
 
Only the the porn key... Midgets must be hunted down in ones spare time.

I can give you some pointers from my years of inter racial and amputee midget hunting, but I cannot just give you (or anyone else for that matter) a midget.
 
It's ok psilo, I know where you like to put your pointers. Does the porn key come in gold and encrusted in diamonds? Or is it just going to open up a door full of pictures of you, 'baitin over some fish sticks? If it is then i wont bother applying, I was hoping for something new.
