The White House is accepting user submitted questions for President Obama to address during the SOTU address but the issue that has been voted most popular by YouTube users is drug policy.

On Reddit earlier today, user whiskeysnowcone noted that the top 50 most popular questions were all related to marijuana use and drug crimes.

Currently it appears that other policy related questions have risen to the surface, but questions about illegal drugs still dominate the list of most voted on questions.

Will he address America's burning questions about pot? Probably not.

all the top questions are actually about drugs. All of them.

But clicking on the YouTube link defaults to one of the categories, instead of listing the most popular questions in all categories. So the trend disappears when you try to observe it.

Has the Govment hacked YouTube??????

This has happened atleast twice before and each time he didnt answer any of the questions only made a joke "I wonder what this tells us about the internet users". OOH every internet user is a drug user, didnt know that one.
Whats the point of doing this kinda thing if hes not gonna adress the questions!?!

fuckin awesome post

the top 50!??!?!? ALL of them! GOD DAMN!

...just how many of us are there?...

the top 50!??!?!?

It goes much deeper than that. I got tired of counting after the first few hundred.

  • The top-rated question currently has over 4000 likes.
  • The top-rated non-drug question currently has a little less than 300.
These numbers will likely change since YouTube is burying drug questions under the category "Other" so you can't see them unless you're looking for them.

Im watching the State of the Union right now online... There is no way in hell he is going to bring up drug use or drug crimes or marijuana... He's just going to blab about economy and jobs... 100% guaranteed

It's crazy how he and every U.S. president before him avoids the question like the plague. They have absolutely no answer that's going to make sense to a question as simple and to the point as, "As a otherwise law abiding citizen, why can I have a beer but not smoke a less harmful joint without fear of criminal persecution?"

Currently the most voted for question reads, "Mr. President, America accounts for 5% of the worlds population, but holds 25% of the worlds prisoners. It costs US tax payers over $40,000 per prisoner each year. Will you end minor drug charges to help ease the economy, instead of private prisons?"

But lets see

And just like every other time, it doesn't matter how much people ask he's just going to ignore it. Especially this close to election time.

It's not like this is the first time one of these poll things have been completely overwhelmed by drug policy questions and subsequently laughed off.
