Considering how strong Opanas are, it would be a good idea in the name of harm reduction to post a guide for the different methods of ingestion coming from Oxycodone.
After the NEW OP Formula came on the market, my area saw an influx of Opana's. I watched as many opiate tolerant people did way too much and had adverse effects, this is by assuming 40mg of Opana is just like taking 40mg of Oxycodone, which it is not.
I did some math, but it could be very wrong lol - I am a communications major not a math major. Don't attack my conclusion if it is wrong, if anything try to help find the correct conversion!
*Bioavailability and Potency are not the same thing, I'm assuming the bioavailability is the best way to make the most accurate conversions. If I am wrong, please correct me!
I came to the conclusion that 5mg of Oxymorphone is equal to roughly 20mg of Oxycodone when used intranasally. Here is the means of how I came to these numbers:
On Opanas website there is a conversion tool, for Oxycodone to Oxymorphone the conversion is .5 - so if you take 10mg of Oxycodone you are going to take 5mg of Oxymorphone, ORALLY.
The Following bioavailability's are estimates, they are meant to be in the neighborhood and I am using round numbers to make calculations easier.
Oral Bioavailability: Intranasal Bioavailability:
Oxycodone - 90% Oxycodone - 70%
Oxymorphone - 10% Oxymorphone - 40%
Using this information, 100mg of Oxycodone is equal to 50mg of Oxymorphone when taken Orally.
*To do the following conversions, I took the percentage differences - 20% for oxycodone between oral and intranasal, and multiplied that by the milligrams.
So, 100mg X .20 = 20mg. I then added 20mg to the original 100mg to get the equivalent intranasal dosing.
The effects of 100mg of Oxycodone taken orally is equal to 120mg of Oxycodone taken intranasally.
The effects of 50mg of Oxymorphone taken orally is equal to 35mg of Oxymorphone taken intranasally.
So now the equivalent does becomes 120mg of Oxycodone to 35mg of Oxymorphone when taken intranassaly.
We divide each number by 7 and we get 24mg of Oxycodone to 5mg of Oxymorphone.
I rounded 24mg to 20mg because in my subjective expeirences i felt 20mg to be more accurate of a number.
So what does everybody think about my little hypothesis lol?
