lage BHO extraction questions.

I'm not sure if this is the place to be asking this but i have some questions about making larger amounts of honey oil with butane . hopefully someone here has the knowledge and experience that'll help me out.

To start out with i have roughly 4.5 to 5lbs of leaf. I've busted it down to 2 and a half ziplock bags the medium ones that usually fit like half lb of bud but i've got it powdered. anyways i have went out and got a 2 ft piece of 2" abs.

my question is would it be better to use this with like three pounds that i will hold and force like 2 dozen cans of butane though or go to something smaller like 2 foot of shorter and 1.5" and do like 3 or 4 batches putting like 10 cans through each?

Would there any advantage to one or the other, would the yield be any different? another question. I am hoping to get like 40g of oil, is this unreasonable ?

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need a roughly tenfold weight of butane to leaf to get a good extraction. You can use 20fold even if you are looking to get a good amount. Yielsd is usually anywehere form 5 to 15% depending on the quality of the leaf and how much butane you blast through it.

A 2 foot 2" extractor is good if you have some way to port it to the butane cans, just remember to not blast all the buane through at once - the pipe gets fucking cold and if you aren't careful you can form a bubble of butane that will boil inside the pipe and spray powdered weed and freezing butane everywhere when you remove the can. Go slow and keep a steady trickle coming out. Make sure everythign is ABS or PVC, no polycarbonates or soft polyethylene that will melt or soak your hash oil up repsectively.

ok. could you expain what you mean by that ratio. weight of butane to weight of leaf. you mean like 2 z cans of butane to 1 oz leaf?
and by port i assume that a simple round hole at the top of the pipe isn;t the most effective? i'm basically recreating a honeybee but 2 feet long. and when i inject the butane i shouldn't press as hard as i can ?

I mean 10 ounces (by weight) butane to 1 ounce bud/leaf. 16 to 1 is good too. A simple hole will work fine as long as you can drill one the butane tip will fit into. And you'll want to press hard enough to get the butane out of the can, but only inject it in short 3-5 second "pulses" once there's oil coming out.

ok great. i'm assuming i'm going to go through like or 5 cans just to get the oil(liquid) to come out. then when it starts to come out i will do like you say , 3 to 4 second pulses and with any luck all will go well. i'm going to try this later on in the week so i will let you know the results. thank you very much for your help.

Smaller batches will produce more of a yeild. I usually use 10oz vector butane per 1 oz of ground up A+ nugs. I usually yeild 2-3 grams and then dip the oil into bubble hash or keif to make it were you can actually handle it without it sticking to your fingers.

it is recommended to use an Okief butane extraction tube or something similar.

it is best to do a large number of small runs, rather than 1 massive one. this allows a margin or error (dont ruin everything) and allows you to experiment and get different end products.

With such a large amount, you may want to get bubble bags and do runs with weed and bubble hash in the tube, that way you will need far less butane.

I don't mean to sound cocky, but you really should PM me and explain your process step by step, from there I can tell you what you are doing wrong and what can be done better. Me and my friends have been making and finding ways to improve BHO for almost 10 years now (since we were 15).

Even if you don't choose to ask for my help, at least take this piece of advice, DO NOT USE ABS!!! you will end up with excess chemicals in your product leached from the ABS. Use PVC pipe instead.

If you chose to do so I will explain to you how to make the most efficient Honey Bee (what we call the extractor) the correct butane to use, give you the step by step process to make the oil and explain how to make BHO that looks like keef, tastes like bomb hash (no gross chemical taste) and can be handled with your bare hands without fear of losing the majority of it.
