whats your plant nemesis

Soy agrees with me. I guess I'm just one of those people who feel more of the good than bad effects of this plant product. Wheat never did me wrong either.

The sugarcane is not my friend.

Goji Berries are my nemesis.
They ruined my life. Way too many little sharp seeds within a little raisin-like outer skin. That's what got me Ulcerative Colitis last year. I thought they'd be SOO healthy with all these great vitamins, and, as far as I know, they DO have some good properties about them, but their physical structure is horrible for the gut lining.
I ate these things by the handful as if they were just like raisins, and they are meant to be mixed to like trail mix or something like that, and eaten sparsely. Woops!

I don't really have a plant "nemesis" per se. Even those members of the plant kingdom which synthesize compounds that can kill have their place in nature.

I do know that there are many people who have trouble with metabolizing certain compounds found in plants though. Soy, tree nuts, gluten/gliadin cereals, and a few others come to mind.

oh delta9 i knew it man. i knew you will be the party pooper here. you always try to be so "positive" that it hurts. i mean i know positivity is always helpful to most people, but try to always see the other side of things plz. its good for you and people around acknowledging you posses deep contrast of things.

so can you try to find a plant you really dislike based on experiences, general history with other people or anything related to negative association when it comes to mind ? :\

Pumpkin seeds! At about four in the morning around last Halloween I was tripping on LSD, ketamine and methadone when I happened across a massive bag of them. Recalling bygone days of cute little innocent sandwich baggies brimming with 'em combined with hot cider and candied apples, I went about devouring the deceptive little fuckers with extreme prejudice and specious impunity. I thought, "these are great, and they're good for me"! "I have a new favorite snack, yay!"

As I finished my whiskey and sleeping pills and set down to my pillow for blissful sleep the folly of my headstrong ways became apparent. My face swelled up until I could barely see out of my right eye and my breathing became hoarse. At some point in eating those three cups of pumpkin seeds I crossed some threshold of allergic reaction. I paced around the cabin I was staying at, everybody else asleep, a half blind mutt with terrible breath and scabs on its face in relentless pursuit. Every time I stopped to ponder how funny it was that I had survived a pharmacy banquet of drugs that night only to be done in by a pumpkin seed overdose the dog would start licking my leg, leaving a cowlick of white foamy saliva in its tongue's pestilent wake.

I want your soul!

"Begone death! Shoo away you accursed hound of hell!"

I absconded to my room, leaving the dog behind the door where it sat for about five minutes like a perched vulture. Around 9 a.m. I decided I would live. The swelling in my right eye had gone down a little, too. The cabin's owners came back around noon, and I was forced to drive an hour and a half back home, sober but sleep deprived, embarrassed but wiser, and with one and a half good eyes.

mine happens to be the foxglove plant that some how keeps reappearing even though I am sure year on year I have gotten all of the roots, I dont like having them, they look nice but can be very dangerous, and I have kids who seem to attract dangers

Oh? How so? Pumpkin seeds are a malevolent force whose evil is only surpassed by those little berries on bushes in parking lots that stick to the bottom of shoes and stain carpets. They are a formidable nemesis.

Seems like the right thread to post that. I dunno what you're talking about, asecin. Maybe YOU'RE the confused one. Ever think about that?

I'm adding sugarcane to the list of my plant nemesi. It's not really the plant's fault, but geez, refined sugar is like crack. Seriously. It's this white powder... and sugarcane is to sugar as cocaine is to freebase coke. And it gives you a spike and then you crash... leaving you wanting more...

psood0nym, this isnt share your experience with drugs and tell us what stories you have when you were high. can you sober up and please check the thread again.

seriously, this guy is completely lost is there ignore feature here ?

Lighten up dude...
It was definitely more a trip report than the other posts in here (beside my own btw).
But he did get a quite nasty reaction to the pumpkin seeds.
If you know the theory of operant conditioning, you should understand he now has a mortifying aversion for those seeds.
It shouldn't matter how he got that aversion; he has found his nemesis either way.

3rd I blind, yeah what i meant was trip report and i didnt ask for those in my thread. he obviously got really high and acted like an idiot and now he hates something (thats not even a plant but seeds) and has to share drug stories in my thread. which is lame. no tnx dont share your personal teen high experiences plz. same goes to you 3rd i blind since i noticed you doing it too.

Well first of all, if you start a thread that does not mean you own that thread.
Of course there are certain rules etc., but you can always expect people to understand your intentions differently.

Secondly, most people in here add an explanation why they consider a certain plant their nemesis.
It might be just a coincidence that my explanation has something to do with drug use, why shouldn't I be able to express that?
I agree that psood0nym's post was tending more towards a trip report, but why not see the funny side and carry on? :)

That said, i have always hated the stinging nettle.
But after my encounter where I was literally eating and hugging the damn plants, I am trule afraid of coming near those fuckers.
And I think my aversion is a lot more solid than people eating some soy, having a shitty shit and declaring soy as the most evil plant of all times.
But that's just me, and you don't see me blabbing about "I don't agree" or anything. :)

now he hates something (thats not even a plant but seeds) and has to share drug stories in my thread.
@asenine: Pumpkin seeds aren't plants? What? So when you described soy as your nemesis you weren't referring at all to the bean (a subtype of seeds) then, but the rest of the plant? I also find your calling my post a "trip report" or "teen drug story"odd seeing as the entire story is about an allergic reaction to pumpkin seeds and drug use is not even described, only mentioned to provide context (please quote my description of drug effects and demonstrate that my post was in fact a trip report and therefore belongs in the Trip Reports forum). Also, I'm a 29 year old grad student, this happened last summer, and I wrote the post sober.

So lets iron this out. What you want your thread to be about is plants, but not seeds because what plants grow from and eventually grow themselves are not plants. Additionally, you only want stories of said plants that should, in your words, "fuck off and die," or that are "you're least favorite plant"? Reading it over it's so clear to me now! It's all been right there in your first post like a smack in the face. I can't imagine how I'd think such a somberly presented and exhaustively defined topic as your plant nemesis that should fuck off and die might be open to posting humorous stories of how one met a plant that bested them. What a gross misinterpretation on my part. You're right, I'm so lost. Can you please help me find the non-plant allergic reaction stupid teen drug story thread? I'll have a moderator get my posts over where they properly belong ASAP.

P.S. I totally hear what you're saying in your first post. I can't stand when "people cannot balance things in life and can only either concentrate on negative or positive". You're perceptive, equitable, and eloquently stated responses in this thread, and your refusal to focus on the negative (as you say you hate so much), has been a breath of fresh air in a world drowning in hypocrisy. God speed good sir -- and fuck soy, ANY SOY, fuck it!

hey psood0nym, matsuo and 3rd eye can you please refrain from ganging up on me and trolling me in a thread that was suppose to be civil and let people voice their opinion freely without being judged. you are really not trolling me as much as spoiling it for the others who come here now :/

You're welcome to behave civilly in the thread too. ;) It's also more useful if you report posts that violate our guidelines rather than muck up the thread with [???].

i sure will. Matsuo Munefusa has been bothering me for days now. in one of the threads i participated in, he called me a lame troll a product of a family of morons etc. then he later edited it cuz he is not that stupid to let that be seen. anyway, if he bothers me again, in pm like he did once or in forum, ill report. sick of his attitude and i cannot stand it at all anymore :(
