Opiate Tolerance

No offense meant or taken, koko. The only reason I corrected you is because OxyContin is one of the most misspelled, and misunderstood drugs around, I've heard people call it oxycotton, oxyconten, oxycotten and a few other variations. I understand you're in pain and I didn't mean to be a spelling nazi haha.

It's true, huh? I remember my girlfriend telling me once that she had gone to dinner with her father (who takes Percocets recreationally and it isn't a secret to anyone), and for whatever reason, it being in the news or whatever, he begins talking about how OxyContin is terrible and "like heroin." The ingredient in both OxyContin and Percocets is oxycodone, so how can OxyContin be more like heroin than Percocets? You know?
 
Verso, you took the words right out of my mouth. There are so many people who think OxyContin is something completely different than oxycodone, or, even worse, that Vicodin is something different than hydrocodone. I blame the media, the whole "hillbilly heroin" thing, etc., ugh.

NIGHTSHADEX - You know nothing about oxycodone.

I had a serious car crash in 2006. I got put on oxycodone and have NEVER taken an illegal drug, snorted, injected, crushed...done anythign but swallow the pills like I am meant to.

Your body builds up a tolerance like everyone is explaining and in order to achieve the same "PAIN RELIEF" in my case - as i am genuine and taking them for genuine reasons, you need to take more.
I'm not going to go on and on but before you start slagging people off and offending people like me, that at 21 had a fantastic job, a wicked life, was happy and confident, hard working, kind and caring, get your facts right. Do you really think Doctors would keep up up uping medication if 10mg worked for all of us at all times. Why do you think pills come in different MG doses ?? Otherwise we would all be on 5MG and the large doses wouldnt need to be prescribed.

Concentrate on your own shit life rather then insulting genuine people, who through no fault of their own, are stuck with serious pain conditions, that need them to be managed by strong medications just to be able to get out of bed, to do the washing up, to have a poo or even cnsider facing the day ahead in severe pain.
I only just joined this site and this is my 2nd post and please everone else, forgive me for my outburst but how dare someone like you that obviously knows jack shit, insult someone like me that is suffering day and night - and have never done anything wrong, illegal, was a hard working citizen, financially supported my family, who now walks with a walking stick and already feels shamed enough to have to feel like a cripple/embarrassed & hides their medication because there are so many judgemental people out there accusing us of things we have not done wrong.

Do you know what it is like to be in so much pain that when you try to take a poo it hurts so much to try and strain that you are screaming in agony - just for trying to poo.
Do you not think that I do not feel ashamed and embarrassed enough.

HOW DARE YOU

- to everyone else that takes strong medication legitly, ignore idiots that know nothing of our serious and controlling situations, keep fighting. For those that take illegally, you do what you like when you like so long as you are not hurting other people in the process to get there

^I've got this cartoon image of an old, big lady with a bellowing voice. Her hair and make-up are horribly overdone. She is stuck in the past in which she was raised--often causing her to become flustered and enraged by the present.

PMSL - I'm a petite uk size 8 / usa 4 - blonde shoulder length 5FT 5inch's thats not been short of a shag or two - but the "How dare you" line definately made me feel like that big old lady with horribly overdone make up!!

If/when you get the chance, check out Captain.Heroin's Pain Management Megathread v2.0 over in Other Drugs forum. There is a lot of great information there about dealing with chronic pain.

Thank you huni, i've only just registered and fancied a little support asnd to talk to people in similar situation because noone else seems to understand so this is great!

Absolutely. No worries about just being a Greenlighter, we all were at some point and I've very happy I've stayed with Bluelight and been able to help so many people...and that so many people have helped me. The megathreads are great, they take some time to read through, but you will certainly find somebody who is experiencing just what you are and find out how they deal with their situation.

I want to welcome to you Bluelight and let you know that this is a great community of people that come from all walks of life and from all over the world to help each other. While I'm not a pain patient myself, I am an opiate addict and a user of amphetamines, benzos, psychedelics and basically everything else. There are people who use all sorts of substances for all sorts of reasons, browse through the different forums and check it out. :)
